Didn't Sandtroopers disintegrate Uncle Owen, Aunt Beru and Jawas with their blaster rifles? Melting the former down to red blasted, charred skeletons? Wasn't Boba Fett known for disintegrating?

I see some people's points in here. The flamethrower trooper does seem redundant and only there to sell some toys. I mean, the Empire didn't have flamethrower storm troopers, the Republic didn't have flamethrower clone troopers. It's telling I think how Hasbro, Hot Toys and Disney is getting all these troopers out there with a quickness. It's just like the Ewoks in the 80s and the clonetroopers in the 2000s.
Owen/Beru and the Jawas were handled differently--the former set afire after being killed presumably, the latter shot to made look like Tuskens, and it was Luke and Kenobi and 3PO who burned them. It's all off screen, too, so it's mainly supposition--how did they actually do it and what's in the Sandtrooper backpack?

Anyhow, they definitely could have just used a stormtrooper helmet/armor the way they did with the Sandtrooper, but I don't think the idea of a trooper using a flamethrower itself as being problematic.

I think they fear running out of territories for new troopers that sound good. Snowtroopers and Sandtroopers work, even Skytroopers and Swamptroopers might be cool... but then you start to limit yourself to Jungletroopers or Mountaintroopers or Tropicaltroopers and it gets silly.

So they opened it up with more specific "things" now. Fire. Now you can have Flametroopers, Plasmatroopers, Electrictroopers, Bombtrooper, Combattrooper, Ninjatrooper, Bladetrooper.... you see where this is going?

I like the new trooper designs. Slightly different yet reminiscent of each other. As far as HT releasing all these troopers I look at it this way...it gives people options. And there's nothing wrong with having options.

This thing should come with real working flames. That's figure of the year material for me. Incendiary FTW. :lol

I would actually buy prequel figures just so it could light that **** on fire.

There were clones with flamethrower clone troopers on the clone wars cartoon...

Looks ok, but I'm glad it's out of the way. Easy pass. This is the last trooper right? We need characters pertinent to the plot now.

Please.

RELEASE THE CAPTAIN!

I almost went all in on TFA line, but too hard to keep up. Besides, I would hate to commit to these and then have Hot Toys pump out more OT characters. I just have to face facts... I can't have them all.

Yah I here yah. I only preordered the Tie Pilot as it has no NRD. I also keep thinking that there will be 2 more movies in the trilogy, plus Rouge One, plus....:panic::gah:

Thought about getting it all for TFA too.. so far I'm only getting Kylo Ren. Love the look of this Flametrooper though.

All the releases so far look fantastic, but there are going to be so many figures made from this film, it will end up costing so much money to have them all.

I'm tempted to preorder a couple from TFA, but I'm holding off for now. Will wait for the film.

I don't get the weird cynicism surrounding this guy, as if having trooper variations is now somehow bad, or they only did it to sell toys, like they were having trouble in that department before they made a flametrooper to save the bottom line. Come on. Flamethrower units have been used in pretty much every war since World War 1, or at least a good chunk of the 20thcentury. They're a specialist soldier that had a devastating function and were terrifying to come across or even hear about. I don't care if you live in a world with laser weapons, if a soldier with a flamethrower is coming at you it's time to run. This is all they were trying to do, I believe anyway, just show the new ruthless power of the First Order. Plus this guy just looks damn cool.

Preach it girl

I think what's so obnoxious about this is Disney is blowing their load on troopers too quickly. Cool troopers used to be exclusive per movie.

- Star Wars (Stormtroopers/Tie Pilots)
- Empire (Snowtroopers/AT-AT Pilot)
- Jedi (Scout troopers/Royal Guards)
- Menace (Battle Droid/Destroyer Droids)
- Clones (Phase II troopers/Super battle droids)
- Sith (Phase III troopers/Commanders/Magma Guards)

With Force Awakens, you have a ton of crap. I hope it doesn't feel too over stuffed with tons of exotic locations and troops and characters. In my opinion, the duck troopers and the big silver lady trooper should be more than enough.
