Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

I have about 20 SS Star Wars figures, a lot of them I got at $50 or less. There is no way I'm buying the same characters over again at $130 (or more) a pop. Would I want to? Yes, but it ain't happening financially.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

Done with armor soon? LOL, they are just getting started. I don't see HT getting the license, but I do see them continue to work with SS on it.

yeh as much as i would like to see hot toys take on it, i really dont see it happening anytime soon. star wars is bigger than any license that hot toys has ever had.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

That doesn't mean Sideshow is giving me the license. :lol

True but remember its not SSC's license to give its Hasbro's. While nothing will most likely happen it not out of the realm of possibilities. I forsee SSC's simply giving the license over to HT as more likely scenario in the long run more than anyone taking it from them but I just wanted noted that SSC has leased this from Hasbro and that hasn't changed.

I was just going to say the same :lol

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

6 months ago I would have told you I wouldn't consider Hot Toys SW because of the price. But now that I'm getting knee-deep in this new hobby, I'm not so sure anymore. The Belloq and Toht exclusives and Darth are more than I originally planned on ever spending on these 1/6 figures. But those 3 are all pre-ordered. I originally gave myself the limit of $100 a figure--no more. But then Darth comes along and it's **only** $25 more than my original limit. Then Belloq comes along and is $40 more, and then Toht is $70 more!

I think I'm lucky that I don't have any Hot Toys to compare quality with. I think the SSC stuff is terrific and I'm enjoying the hell out of having these figures from my 2 favourite franchises.

I think I would steer away from any figures that were already done by SSC. I don't know if I could justify having a duplicate of a figure that cost twice as much. It would have to be **significantly** better. With any new figures not already done by SSC, however, I think I would probably dive right in, especially now that the SSC prices seem to be catching up to Hot Toys.

I agree with Pixletwin, though. Saying you want the license and actually getting it are two different things.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

I'm sure there are plenty of people will be willing to pay $200 for a 12" figure

$200?

Yes, there ARE people who will pay more for quality. If there weren't Hot Toys wouldn't be around.

the difference in quality is very visible. One thing about both SSC and HT is that you wont feel ripped off. (well, maybe some of SSC's SW figures)

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

As soon as SS is done with their armoured figures, (which won't be long) I'll bet that HT get's the license, maybe sooner than that. There's just too much money to be made with the SW license.

the first part is wishful thinking, nothing more Chavez. The reason for it beig wishful thinking is the last sentace of your post.

now, having said that, at the very least. I'd LOVe to see a sideshow/hot toys partner ship for star wars. Imagine Hot toys tackeling the "harder" figures for sideshow?
How about a Hot Toys Chewwie?
Or Yoda? :naughty
Or C-3P0?
OR R2-D2?
Or Droids in general?

Or... Speaking of Droids... think about their terminator endoskeleton... and now, consider the awesome that would be a Hot toys General Grevious?

and now that you've imagined all those, try to imagine the respective sideshow version...... and it becomes easy to get excited about the prospect of hot toys getting involved.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

I'd drop SS SW in a second for HT, but it's not happening soon.

Some SS SW figs looks like Suped up Hasbro toys (Mace, Bespin Han, Maul etc)
And not like real 1/6 high end representations of the characters. Then some like Ben do.

I'd love to see HT do em.

I see SS only having at the most couple of more years with the license, with the remaining characters left in the line that SS could possibly make, and then it's time for someone else to make money off of the license.

There would me no reason why HT would not get to do the line in the near future,it's just common sense.

Don't get me wrong,I really do like what SS is doing with the armoured line, but I would really like to see HT's take on it,especially the human characters.

I can see SS getting HT involved in production, product development or even character choices if they are able to do so, if exclusives and regulars are sat on SS warehouse shelves due to their own production values, character choices and their on going increases in prices then I can see this as an option theyd welcome !

a few if's admittedly

but I think SS and collectors alike would benefit from HT taking over aspects

SS sells em stateside

win win imho

With financials world wide getting tighter collectors get more choosy, non descript mediocrely produced 2nd rate star wars characters wont play especially at these new price points

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

Hard to say if anything will happen with HT and Star Wars. They seem to be forging a stronger relationship with Sideshow, so it could follow a patter of increased collaboration until they take over or maybe it always stays with Sideshow but HT is called in for specific projects.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

Hot Toys getting the Star Wars license...hmmm...

not likely.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

I have to admit. The thought of an HT Jedi Luke makes me giddy. :google

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

You feel it, too?

:chew

Can't wait till they get the license.

;)

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

SSC has made a fortune off of SW. I don't see them giving it up voluntarily anytime soon.

You're gonna wait 3 more years to buy SW figures?

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

It would be nice if the SW license that Medicom has went to HT.
