Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

$200? I have spent between $120 to $165 after shipping for Hot Toys figures. All my recent Sideshow purchases have been in the $108 range and climbing. The Hot Toys premium is continuing to shrink with Sideshow's price ascent.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

You're gonna wait 3 more years to buy SW figures?

No man,I'm still buying SS's armoured figure's,for the meantime. But once HT makes the announcement then I'll be looking into collecting there's as well, maybe even trading off SS's figure's for HT's.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

It would be nice if the SW license that Medicom has went to HT.

Is it consensus that Hot Toys is better than Medicom? Cos, I gotta say, I haven't really liked any of the Medicom offerings in SW or Indy, especially at their price range...

Don't worry, there are civilized Medicom fans!

Even if you put aside the stylistic issues, and I consider Medi and HT to be apples and oranges, the bottom line is that Hot Toys is the juggernaut of the 1/6 world. They are so far ahead of anyone else as far as quality, likenesses, tailoring and accessories that, IMO, no one else even approaches them.

I got out of the 1/6 SW game a while ago but if HT did produce some figures that might get me back in.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

it will happen...

if Darth Vader can find his way to Soul Caliber and E-FX can swoop in and resume what Master Replicas started, anything is possible... who would have thought that HT would go with the Planet of the Apes?

i will wait with bated breath... it may not be next month... or next year... but it will happen.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

medicom - hot toys - sideshow... good time to be a 6th scale collector... seems like its getting better and better... HT doing Star Wars would be awesome... love the detail HT puts into its 6th scale...

How do you know HT will make an announcement? Its nice to dream and wish, but you make it seem as if its a done deal. As of right now, there is no reason to believe that HT is getting the license, period. If you are going by the interview, you are getting your hopes up. Like I said it would be nice, but most likely it isnt going to happen (Any time soon).

With head to head licensed products, I'd say the scale tips pretty damn far into Hot Toys direction.

You talk about me being so sure that it's GOING to happen, but you are so sure that it WON'T happen?? Some of you guys are acting like you don't want to see HT with the license.I mean yeah maybe I am over reaching a little bit,but it's not like I'm saying something that is just completely outrageous. As I said before,it just makes perfect sense that HT would be given a shot same as Medicom and Sideshow, especially since HT does such a great job with the figure's that already produce.Maybe HT won't have the license at the same time as those two companies but soon after one or both are done with it.

And I took a lot from that interview, your right about that. When a company such as HT expresses that kind of interest in a license like SW,it sure does tell me a few things.

Few companies wouldn't want the $tar War$ license. :duh

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

I have to admit. The thought of an HT Jedi Luke makes me giddy. :google

Oh yeah. Look at SLJ from HT's SPIRIT offering, its leaps and bounds over the Mace Windu likeness offered up by SSC. IF Hot Toys were to do it they'd be masterpieces not to mention I like their bases better as well with the name plaques but as many have said its possible but not probable.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

Oh no...I'm going to have to sell my car to afford them! :)

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

Let's also not forget that Lucasfilm regularly makes companies change sculpts to their liking. Look at Mace Windu. I'm all behind HT doing characters SSC deems "too difficult" like Chewie and the Droids, or hell, an HT Greivous thought made something funny happen in my pants.

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

HT may get the SW license all from a statement that says they would like to do it?
Wow, that's a lot of reading between some very, very large lines

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

Right?

OHNOES!

Hide!!!!!

Re: Hot Toys may get a shot at StarWars!!

True but remember its not SSC's license to give its Hasbro's. While nothing will most likely happen it not out of the realm of possibilities. I forsee SSC's simply giving the license over to HT as more likely scenario in the long run more than anyone taking it from them but I just wanted noted that SSC has leased this from Hasbro and that hasn't changed.

You seem to be assuming that the sub-licence agreement between Hasbro and Sideshow isn't legally binding while the licence agreement between Hasbro and Lucasfilms is. I very much doubt Hasbro can terminate the sub-licence at will, and if it can Sideshow needs better lawyers reviewing their contracts.

Its also common for assignment of any licence or sub-licence be subject to approval by the original licensor - so any transfer to Hot Toys would require the approval of Sideshow, Hasbro and Lucasfilms.

Anyone reckon that is going to happen in this lifetime ?
