If SSC is getting their stock, I think these guys were just released early...

With these guys shipping early what are the odds that there will be any stock left for this years' Spooktacular?
They will still be for sale, but I highly doubt that you will be able to get any discounts other than the monthly code.
Yeah, agreed. OT Stormtroopers sell themselves. No way will we see steep discounts on these. That's reserved for shelf-warmers.

They are early so they can get several runs of these I hope.

We'll see if Hot Toys are smarter than Sideshow in this regard. I'm convinced that they could produce several thousand of these a year and they will still sell out each time. There are some characters that every person new in the hobby will want and it goes double for this type where even if you already have a couple there is always room for three more.

Yes, nice pic! These look really great. But, no shorty for me. Just not a fan. I have one trooper on the way & maybe I'll pick up another "single trooper" down the road. Only "short trooper" I want will be the eventual Luke in the Luke & Han stormtrooper set.

Finally took a few minutes to scan through ANH for the first time since picking these up and have an even greater appreciation for these.

Although I've repeatedly endorsed these (i.e. gushed) as the best 1/6 figure ever, I'm fully aware of minor inaccuracies. I'd say these are 99% there. Slightly flatter lower "face", i.e. tighter angle...tiny adjustments to the tubes (shortening and slight rise to the centre-top of each tube) and very slightly larger eyes, sharper sculpt to the ridges beneath the eyes. Introduce slight asymmetry if you want to get really nerdy.

But these are nitpicks in the truest sense of the word. These differences are so minute as to be inconsequential, they're just not significantly off-model.

Even the way the armour hangs and sits between taller and shorter troopers...it's all there.

Regarding the apparent similarities to the SSC helmet sculpt...in my opinion it's something exaggerated by lens distortion and camera angles. The SSC helmet had one really good angle, so in a sense it was close enough to fool the eyes anyway, but the difference those last few percentage points make is exponential in terms of selling the sculpt.

All right, enough gushing already. I expect my cheque in the mail from Hot Toys. :lol

Would love to see a SS helmet on the HT body next to a HT unaltered. When I see the HT and SS side by side the helmets look very similar but the proportions between body and helmet are miles better on the HT.

Going to assume, as a man of good taste :D, that you've seen Breaking Bad, but this reminds me of Gale explaining to Gus the difference a few percentage points in purity make (in regards to Walt's meth). :lol

I have indeed, sir. And maybe that meth analogy isn't so far off when talking Plastic Bad Guys. :rotfl

Alright, Fantrooper, I want to see Stormtroopers fighting Snowtroopers on your living room floor. Make it so.

LOLZ...you must have missed a couple of my fan-posts... :lol ... shortly before the HT Stormtroopers from Hong Kong appeared, I went through and sold off all of my customized Snowtroopers and Marmit Sandtroopers.

All solid figures, but they didn't fit with my Minimalist Master Plan.

I know that makes some people cringe, but I have no regrets and I'm happy someone else is enjoying the work I put in. :)

I even let DX07 go because his colour-scheme and finish didn't match my collecting proclivities as a whole. Yes. Bringing OCD to a whole new level.

My favourite pieces have high contrast and/or saturated colours, so viewed as a whole, displaying HT Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the vicinity of HT Stormtroopers makes everything pop, especially against the modern white finishes and fixtures of our home.

DX07 is a phenomenal set, but I'm really committed to both minimalism and having my collection hang together visually in terms of colour palette and finish.

Right now I can do Spider-Man or Bruce Lee vs. Stormtroopers. :rotfl

If I weren't committed to managing the toy collection as such? I would buy every HT Star Wars release and display it together along with a couple of the better SSC releases and maybe the Tama Threepio.

Dodged a bullet there, I think. And the ire of my lovely, Star Wars-hating girl. (She likes superheroes and martial arts, at least.)

ZE_501, I wish I could be as regimented as you are with my collection man, definitely makes you appreciate your stuff so much more when there's less of it. Less is definitely more, but dammit it's hard to deny all this cool stuff sometimes lol

thanks to all the great pics and reviews in this thread, I just caved and ordered a set off ebay. Since I have an EX set on flex as SSC, I guess that means I'll end up wit ha set of 4, which is a good thing!

Anyone have any suggestions on what to use for ankle extensions in case I wanna make one of my shorty's a little taller? back in the day I used to chop up ballpoint pens to do this, but I imagine there's gotta be a better way these days.
