Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Apparently the single trooper offered will also have a height variant and he will come with the grappling line on his belt.

I lie. But that would be an HT move. Have to get all three to be complete.

Verbal21: Thinks SE's are better than theatrical editions and that ewoks are more badass than wookiees. Just making sure I'm up to date on your preferences. At this rate I can only assume that Ben Quadinaros is your favorite SW character. :)

Nope. There is no "better". Star Wars is Star Wars to me and just because Greedo shot first or Luke's lightsaber is tinted wrong in the Millenium Falcon, it doesn't make me think of it any different. What IS annoying is all the old farts who have been complaining since 1997 that can't accept the fact that there is a lot more to it than what there originally was in it's theatrical release and have to complain anytime something PT/SE related.

Yes, the PT was underwhelming but it is what it is and I'm assuming Ben Quadinaros is supposed to be insulting, but he didn't really bother me:dunno

Sure there is. Why would you assume that anyone else would have to consider two different things as being equal in quality? SW 1977 is not the same movie as SW:SE 97, 2004, or 2011. Therefore no one has to pretend that they are the same movie. They have different release dates, different running times, different scenes. I'm not sure why that would be hard to grasp. Now saying "I grew up with the SE's and I just prefer them" is one thing. To each his own and all that if that's where you're at. But pretending that different cuts of the same movie are NOT different? Why?

Of course there is more to SW than its 1977 release. Merchandise, Holiday Special, sequels, prequels, revisions, animated spin-offs, etc. That doesn't mean you have to take it all in whether you like it or not.

I believe you, I really do. I think you have ESB Fett as your avatar and sig to be ironic. ;)

Look dude, it's the same movie to me, I don't care what anybody else thinks and I'm not gonna try to make anybody change their minds. I won't lose any sleep.

But I'm curious how there's irony in my stance about the movies and my sig? I must've missed asking for your approval since I'm not a fan up to your standards:dunno

Oh it was just an old fart making a joke about your sig. Nothing more. I like the original OT and want you off my lawn, you're cool with the SE's, bla bla bla, it's all good. Awesome ST figures huh? ;)

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Yes I do think that SW did strongly indicate in 1977 that at least a portion of Stormtroopers were clones. TK-421 could have literally been the one trooper's clone name and Leia's "aren't you a little short" comment does suggest that either the Empire has height requirements for enlistment or that they manufacture soldiers with a certain physicality. You could really take it either way.

Even with the different heights that we see on screen they could still all be clones. There's no reason they couldn't have a dozen or even a hundred different clone templates.

My belief is that there is a mix of clones and enlisted men. TK-421 was a clone, the two guys chatting about the new model of speeder or whatever on the bridge next to Obi-Wan were normal dudes. I'm not dying on that battlefield or anything but that's just what I assume when I watch the original SW. Luke and Leia both reference the Clone Wars so it's not like it wasn't a concept being imagined at the time.

According to Wookieepedia Stormtroopers were mixed; Stormtrooper Corps

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Imagine when the day comes that the PT fans can bash the ST noobs. A potent mix of OT vs PT vs ST. :panic: :lol

I seriously doubt that will ever happen. :lol

Though it will be interesting so see how the Sequel Trilogy is received. It's ALWAYS cool to blast whatever is new. That's a given so naysayers are guaranteed. All I'm really hoping for is that the new trilogy is at least as good as ROTJ (which isn't the tallest order) and that there are lots of cool new designs for ships, characters, and things. I honestly think that SW is pretty easy to get right. Even the new Rebels cartoon is fun. Just do that on a big budget blockbuster scale and I'll be good to go.

^^^^^ Imagine the day when everyone enjoys the franchise and stops trying to "impress" folks with knowledge most don't give two hoots about...

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Eh, complaining about people trying to impress other people with "knowledge" probably just means you have very little. Enjoy the pretty lights and go about your day if information upsets you. Why even bother participating in online discussions?

It always amuses me when geeks try and call out other geeks for knowing too much about geeky stuff.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

The ST movies have the potential to crap on the OT more than the PT ever did (based on what OT veterans say) too. :D

I disagree. A sequel is always easier to ignore than a prequel, IMO. ROTJ will always be a fitting end to the saga if the ST doesn't deliver. I actually think ROTJ messed up a lot of things established in SW and ESB but even it doesn't bother me like the PT.

A lot depends on how well the original OT characters are written and acted and not the actual story itself.

I tend to focus my attention on things which I consider important such as relationships, personal and professional goals etc. Movies, hobbies serve as a nice break away but I'll focus on the pretty lights works for me thus far. I'll come to the boards to watch those with movie magic prowless battle it out, it is fun to read...:wink1:
