The planned follow up to Genisys is apparently now cancelled:
‘Terminator 2’ Pulled Off Paramount Schedule | Deadline

Hardly a surprise. However, since this figure may be the only "mature" Hot Toys Arnie will people be more likely to buy for the novelty? There's also the potential attraction that this will likely have a low production run... always bait for some collectors.

I don't know if I can live in a world where we never find out who sent Gramps back.

That's pretty much why I'm still buying it. I don't mind so much it looking like a hybrid of different versions of Arnie from that movie, because outside the remaking of the scenes from the first two movies, the movie overall didn't do that much for me. It's kind of old Arnie to me in a jacket, and not really 'The Terminator'. Not much in the way of accessories. Tbh, I'm not even bothered whether I pose him with the weapon or not, but I most likely will.

As for the head. Scarlet Witch looks to be an improvement from the first pics, Matrix was a bit of a disappointment, and Thor was much different. (Whether for the better is down to opinion).. I'll make my mind up on which of the three it is when I get it in hand..

Genisys won't be getting its sequels? Just like Salvation didn't? I'm shocked.

Hey we should reboot it again and write it as the first of a new trilogy! *Fails* Oh...well....hey we should reboot it again and write it as the first of a new trilogy! *fails* *scratches head* hey we should reboot it again and....

These people have short memories.

The good thing about movies is you can sweep them under the furniture if you want. Terminator 1 and 2 will always be like the first two Alien movies to me. After that, when they get to the point of retconning, rewriting and are frankly inferior to the earlier efforts, then I tend to treat them like Star Wars EU material..

I enjoy Alien vs Predator for what it is, but I just can't put it in the same space as the first two Alien movies, or Predator (1) for that matter.

We can do that? I thought we could only do positives.

I was actually going to adapt a Terminator quote for my post - ''6 billion human lives stayed at home when Terminator Genisys hit cinemas on July 1st 2015. The people who saw it called it average at best. They left the theatre only to face a new nightmare...the prospect of 2 more redundant films.''

In seriousness, I'd say they're done now. They figured Terminator:Salvation didn't do well because Arnold wasn't in it and it wasn't a time travel story so they felt there might still be a large audience now that Arnold was available again and by reverting to a time travel plot - they were wrong. Genisys was an attempt at a partial reboot and I think they'll know that a full reboot would be even more futile.

I can't remember, did you see it yet?

I notice you're often late to the party on some of these ''much anticipated'' sequels and reboots etc :lol

So I am oddly tempted to throw the $75 I have in rewards on this guy and pick him up...

The film was pretty much garbage. Not as good as Terminator Salvation even... maybe just on par with the awful T3. Arnold was basically the only thing enjoyable in the film. And that is just because he is Arnold.

But- I do still like the idea of an old man Arnold Terminator. And this figure being inaccurate to the film (1984 look but with the 2017 wrinkles) actually strangely makes me want it more. I could look at it and not think it is from Genisys but is instead a "What if..." old man Terminator.

Does that make sense?

Sallah

That is sort of my reasoning for having it. I don't like the damaged head. The accessories are next to none. Compared to MMS238, the only thing it potentially has going for it is a much newer sculpt. (and we are all varying in our opinions of it, from being the best likeness yet, to being Tommy Lee Jones)

It's old man Arnie, being an older version of the Terminator to me.

And.. I've only watched the movie once, so I must rewatch it... but I kinda dug the earlier stuff in the movie I'll be honest. But once it moved past the T-1000 stuff and more towards the John Conner stuff I went off it. Doesn't help I just can't quite cope with Reese and John Conner. Even the Star Trek and X-Men reboots come prequels did a better job of casting.

Wall-E is a bit like that for me. I really enjoy the first 40 minutes, and then I go off it once it moves back into normal Pixar familiarity..

Hopefully the fig is gonna be released soon. I wonder if it will be a real shelf warmer, seeing as how the movie bombed. :dunno
Still amazed HT are making a Endo from Genisys.

Hehe no it probably doesn't make sense. But on the other hand it might be a fun figure to have next to other younger Arnolds. And that could be enough to own it... And then try to forget this horrible horrible movie... If you can.
