Always a good chuckle that people think a “hero” not going out to beat up low level street criminals because he has nothing to do is a worse offense than straight up murdering people because you’re afraid.

I guess I tend to forget that for some people it’s just an excuse for the violence rather than being about anything heroic.
Now now. BOTH portrayals can be off the mark.

After all, the whole reason Bruce became Batman was due to a low level street criminal. And the whole reason Batman works as a vigilante and doesn’t just become The Punisher is because he shouldn’t just start killing dudes.

I won’t spare the old animated version either. They made some really questionable choices later on…

Anyhoo, Batman works best when he’s got the anger, vengeance, brooding darkness, and drive for justice… but not any one extreme.

It’s one reason I advocate so strongly for an extended Bat-family. They often keep him in check.

Lol! I remember watching TDKR in the theaters. When Bale said that "Where is it?" line and sounding so similar to TDK "Where is she?", a bunch of us started laughing at it.
Lol yeah he didn't really feel threatening at all in that scene. His best Batman voice was in BB, but even then he overdone the "What I do that defines me," part. Pattinson seemed pretty good and consistent with his. I prefer voice modulation as tough as it is to do a mean Batman voice on screen.

I just came back from seeing it again and I remembered years ago seeing someone brilliantly recreate water droplets with glue on a Saving Private Ryan custom. Obviously, there’s no way to do that on a mass scale, but there was something so cool about seeing Batman just drenched head to toe with the rain trickling down his cowl that I would love to see recreated.

I just had got an email from SS that my order for Batman (Deluxe) was cancelled by mistake, thankfully my NRD and rewards points where fully refunded. I had to call and make sure it was though, should get the refund back later this week. But as I was adding the figure to my cart again I realized as cool as the deluxe is I'm not really going to use the wing suit, the explosive gun isn't something seen in film so no big deal. Only thing I'd want is the dio but I might just be happy to have him standing next to the batsignal or on the batbike. So I'll probably get the standard to save a bit of money.

That is true on the Nolan statement but that can be said with Bruce from TNA through Batman Beyond as well. The point is he became Batman again and this was borrowing from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. So it's not out of character for him to disappear for 8 years. What's out of character though is him wanting to quit because he believed Harvey was the answer and he can have a life with Rachel or that ending in TDKR. At least with TDKR, I can see it more with Nolan closing the story completely.
Yes but Miller's Batman had been active for over 20 years when he disappeared. He came back when he was 55.

Bale's Batman had been in the cowl for what, a year? Maybe two at most when he decided to stay home. He's supposed to be in his 30s I assume, certainly not 55.

The closing monologue in TDK was so good, 'we'll hunt him because he can take it'. Turns out they didn't have to, he just quit. Hard to believe Gotham wasn't still full of crime and corruption in those 8 years.

That's what I did. Got the regular plus the batsignal, since they're selling them separately. Save 55 bucks by skipping pieces I will never use.

This isn’t explicit. Batman could have easily been active for 5-8 years before Rises. By the time of rises he’s no less than 40 at youngest and the ending of Rises is completely open ended so who knows how long he was Batman total.

Yeah they should have just gone ahead and created one extra "Rain-Soaked Version", since that's how he looked in most of the movie anyway. 😄

I'll be honest I've never liked Bale as Batman - I love his films, his supporting cast are great: especially H Ledger, C Murphy, G Oldman, M Caine, M Freeman.
But Bale himself.... meh 🤷‍♂️ never been a fan.
- I don't like his bat costumes.
- I DESPISE the hoarse voice "wHeRe's ThE TrIGgeR!" it just sounds ridiculous and is rightly mocked.
- he's ready to quit as Batman by film 2.
- he (and everyone else around him) have a bad habit of over-philosophizing about the morality/symbolism of Batman too much - which I can stand when Caine's Alfred does it but its done WAY too much
- he uses very little detective skills and mostly relies on fancy gadgets given to him by Fox, who (alongside Alfred) ALSO seems to do most of the legwork on the detection & information gathering.
- His personality is a little too much like his "Brucie Wayne" public persona - there isn't such a clear divide between them, his obnoxiousness seems to spill over into his Batman & "just Bruce" scenes. Batman is something that Bale does, its not who he IS.

Weird call out on the "personality" divide since Pattinson's batman and wayne literally act the same. It's wonder how no one figures out who he is.

Cheesy *** monologue at the end and angsty "you're not my dad" tropes to boot.

That isn't to say I hate the Pattison Batman though, probably my third favorite.

I mean it could've been possible for them to do it. If I remember correctly, the broken cowl that Bane came with had little water droplets/spots on it

Lots of interesting opinions going on and I can't wait to see the movie tomorrow. I might get this guy if I enjoy the movke but for now can't wait to get the Dx19 in a few months hopefully
