Honestly, I’m curious to see if anyone rehairs/repaints this guy. I feel like it’s actually a great sculpt and I’d be curious to see what the tongue in particular would look like with a really high end, caked on, mob scene/seriously raccoon eyed paint job.

Has already been done by Heise if I’m not mistaken

So far I'm going to have to go with sculpted over Artisan on most examples I have seen. It just looks better IMO and have pretty much felt that way since it went up for PO. I had the Artisan in my cart and passed. Ordered sculpted right away when released.

It's just a opinion don't freak out.

This picture is the first time where I’ve felt HT is better lol. This IA Joker is really their worst release.
Comparing stock (without intention to swap) I guess I lean a little towards Hot Toys. But it's mainly due to the coat. That's the biggest factor that sets one apart from the other, in my opinion.

I don't know what reference these companies are using (Hot Toys, Inart, JND...) and I'm not as frustrated by whether they opt for a prop or screen approach, but the worst part I think, is their outfits are never consistent with either.

You see parts with a blueish tinge using screen reference, and others without.

And then there are parts that aren't even in the ballpark of either.

I'll say this too. That they're all so different from each other highlights a glaring problem. They're not basing this on thorough research (because if they did, they'd have a much better result). But they all seem to wing it instead.

Were you to mix the best parts from all 3 figures, you still won't get close enough to a faithful representation.

I truly understand Nick's frustration.

I think this is why I tend to forego some accuracy for as long as the overall figure looks good to my own eyes. No one can even say "go custom" when it comes to the clothing b/c the custom artists have all been some form of different from each other when it comes to their take on TDK Joker's outfit as well. And as we know, no amount of notes seem to get them to change their initial proto most of the time therefore it just becomes another artist's interpretation of the suit rather than trying to get it to match a prop or screen look. They seem to get it "close enough" to what they're trying to achieve just as the official companies do. The one real difference (at least in the past) is the quality of materials used is typically better on the custom clothing compared to the official as well as the tailoring itself. But, as far as accuracy goes, none have been perfect. Some closer than others, but it appears there's always something off no matter how much money you throw at it.

Yup. It's unfortunate. The talent is there. Just needs the right guidance / direction.

I think there's more to that also like ego. The direction can be there but if they aren't willing to accept the direction/critiques for improvement, like what appears to happen more often than not, it's not going to matter how much talent you have.

A lot of that for sure.

In fact, one person's ego is what's keeping Iris from taking another stab at this character. And I believe she'd be the best for the job.

I have the artisan on PO with SS, but the more I’m seeing, the more I think I would prefer the sculpted hair. I assumed it would be overproduced and readily available if I changed my mind on the artisan, but it’s looking to be out of stock everywhere. Funny dilemma to find myself in.
