Re: Hot Toys-The Terminator-MMS 238-T-800-(Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure

Sure the headsculpts are bigger, but built like an average man????

The body for this figure is not as thick as it should be (as it uses the T2 terminator body), but it is far from average man.
but it was "a figure (head+body) that seems to be built like an average man", not "a body that is built like an average man"... i think that's what a-dev meant because that's what it looks like.

The figure is pretty good right out of the box. I find that the headsize vs body proportions is most noticeable when stood beside other Terminator figures. IF you don't have any other figures, you might not feel the need to mod it at all. With the collar up, you don't even necessarily need to thicken the neck...

PS. Your frozen T-1000 looks spectacular! Congrats on that work!

Thanks. I was lucky to get the frozen T-1000 from Elvis1976, I'm sure he's generally very busy with stuff but he must have had a lull period and so he actually came to me about doing that, he said he'd been wanting to do a frozen T-1000 and he knew of my reputation for (at least back then) buying every Terminator custom possible. I sent him my figure, he did the work on it and sent it back....for a fee obviously :lol

I worry about that figure though, gathering dust and so on. Not like I can run a lint-roller over it. So I usually keep it covered by a clear bag. I also hope it doesn't discolour from light over time.

Yeah, the stock figure isn't built like Arnold - certainly not T1 Arnold - and the larger heads play into it, throwing off proportions and making him overall just look like an ordinary 'fit' person and not a Mr Universe bodybuilder.

Most of the characters Hot Toys makes these days get body-sizes that were once the preserve of Arnold figures. I mean how ridiculous is it that the Man of Steel General Zod (Michael Shannon) in fact has a bigger body than the one this figure comes on. That's the body Olbertfrog is either using or harvested parts from to increase the size of this figure.

Michael Shannon

Arnold Schwarzenegger

I mean I'm sure Shannon put on a bit of muscle for MOS but

i saw Iceman recently, Shannon is one huge monster, but of course it's not a 80ths Schwarzenegger.

I haven't seen that but did see Man of Steel. Sure he can put on muscle when required like many actors. But all those guys in today's superhero movies are getting DX10 magnitude bodies (and apparently in some cases even bulkier)...so maybe it's time Hot Toys adjusted peak Arnold Schwarzenegger bodies accordingly, especially if the heads are always going to be as big as those of MMS238.

I've never seen the John Matrix Commando body in person so I don't really know how it compares. I would have bought one but all the camo-paint and the super-tan makes it useless for Terminator-bashes.

no, i didn't mean muscles, i mean he seemed big overall - tall body, giant hands and so on.

One thing not to Forget about the man of steel Line, is that the bodies are oversized compared to the usual hot toys figures.
They gave zod a bigger body probably because of the armor, it gives immediately an impressive presence.

The mms 238 would have been great with any of the usual Arnold bodies if the headsculpt was smaller, i think the best size is the mms136 technoir.
Makes the body look big as it should be. Dx13 is a tad too big for my taste.
Mms238 head is as big as Man of steel zod and Supes heads.
My mms238 custom body is an over kill mix of zod legs (with soldier story muscular add on that give the sculpted muscle look) and abs, Supes shoulders and biceps, mms136 chest cover with neck mod, ttm20 forearms.
I had all these so it was fun but Zod body is enough, neck mod is needed tho.
A future option is The BvS superman body with buffier chest, wide shoulders, sculpted thighs, should make wonders with the mms238 without frankensteining it.

Oh and P. You missed these ;)

might miss something less than $49 because not items are visible for me :)
12 pairs are still enough for now.
what really bothers me is that i missed the last DX13 bodies.

well that sounded bad.
but i hesitate now that it's actually 12.
- punk who gives the clothes
- terminator standing without any weapons (waiting for clothes to arrive)
- WRONG
- technoir colt
- technoir UZI
- burned shot one-eyed terminator with a shotgun
- hand repairing
- eye cutting
- police station (SPAS aiming, AR on the shoulder)
- biker (bike still not finished, but will be armed with AR aiming)
- extra full technoir set just because it's beautiful
only 11 - didn't reach the dozen :(
used every weapon coming with 136/238 (including fists / repair instruments) except for a revolver.
full BD wears very BD MMS02 boots (don't want to go through that damaging again), and full BD on his knees in fire has MMS136 boots (no point in replacing boots as they aren't seen).

================

edited after two weeks: got the 12th pair just to have 12 pairs :lol

I have a MMS238 like new that I would like to trade for a HT Kane or Dallas if anyone's interested?
PM me if interested!

One of the pant legs (left leg) is quite loose, even baggy, compared to the tight fitting right leg on my figure. Where on the right leg the pants are tight and bunched in front and behind the knee, the left is just loose. I saw someone comment on it on a video too which made me think it may be relatively common and perhaps there was a simple "solution" people have used; not that it's an actual problem.

On a side note, the pictures a lot of you have put up are insane. Usually I have a pose in mind when I buy a figure, but I've bounced between six or seven different poses thanks to the inspiration from you guys. Really had a blast with this figure.

Tired of waiting for hot toys 1/4 version so im doing mine :)
Still a lot to go but cant wait to do a first test.

^^cool, is it all from the PF?
Will you use an enterbay body and hands?

Yeah thats from the pf ;)
Ill be using it with a 1/4 enterbay bd body, clean grey shirt, clean jacket, gloved hands, 1/4 dyed rambo combat pants.
I tried to track a cheap pf to use the clothes but no joy :(
Hope everything Will fit together.

I've been contemplating doing this myself for over a year now. I have a spare PF and Enterbay figure, but hard to tear them apart, especially since Hot Toys is definitely doing this.......:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

If you want a set head boots weapons let me know :)
I wonder if the pf jacket pants suits the enterbay body.

No they aren't. Years ago they strongly hinted that they were with a teaser image of a 1:4 AR-18 and 12 Gauge shotgun but it never came to pass for some reason. Now they've started Iron Man and Star Wars at that scale so anything else will be lucky to get a look-in.

they couldn't produce enough plastic to make big enough bubblehead for an 1/4 terminator.

Ahh come on.....Hot Toys wouldn't tease something and then not produce it. It's only been four years, give it a chance.
