Deadbeatpad. I too only recently have in to my terminator instinct. I collect Star Wars and only Star Wars. Not because I don't love other stuff but because of space and cost. However I recently caved and am making some room and money available. I have bought in very short period of time. T1 arnie. Pre ordered the new bd one. Bought a dx10 and built a dx13. And bought the t1000.

I know I'm weak.....

My point. One arnie is not enough. I love tech noir look but need bd as well. After all I need to see some metal!!!

Deadbeatpad, I was in the same boat as you. If your going to own terminator figures it makes sense to have a clean one and a battle damaged one! I preordered this one as soon as it went up (like you the dx13 was my first t-800) but earlier this week I caved in and bought the dx10 and mms136. Great figures! I never set out to collect terminator figures but they look fantastic.

You can never own just one terminator figure, its a black hole with multiple versions and then multiple updated versions for the multiple versions you already have...

At first glance, I thought your T800's had formed their own band. Look at the Battle damaged one holding the metal rod with the eye operation one sitting at the table and tell me they don't at a glance look like a singer and his back up piano player.

Yes, I got my first DX13 then about a week latter the second one turned up. I will probably get two T1 Battle Damaged figures. One of the T1 figs I will mod to look more Battle Damaged, rip the paints, weather the boots etc.

I'm sticking with just one T1 bd figure for now. I look forward to seeing your weathered version.

THE FILMS
Contrary to some other posters on this thread, I have to say that the first Terminator is not only my personal favourite of the series, but also possibly one of my favourite films ever. I totally disagree with the posts that suggest Arnie looks silly in it, or that the '80s music and wardrobe let it down - those are some of the parts I enjoy most! I absolutely love the score (I'd buy it on vinyl if I could find it!) and the T1 look Arnie is my preferred one, especially with the original clothes and parted haircut. On a side note, I love how Reese looks too; in fact, I dressed up as him last Halloween. Here's a pic, and here's the full length. Sorry my living room is no Tech Noir, but nice to meet you all the same!

I don't disagree that it's a B-Movie (it's pretty much Cameron's first feature after all, it wasn't going to be a super budget blockbuster), but I love its dark, sci-fi horror tone and the moody aesthetic. Plus I think it's just a slightly tighter piece of writing than the second. Don't get me wrong, I think Cameron is the king of sequels in terms of changing genre and really ramping things up with the action (Aliens is another favourite film of mine and, again contrary to most, I possibly prefer it to the original), but for me T2 is the first moment where his worst traits begin to seep in, especially in the Director's Cut; too much heavy handed moralising about human nature. Don't get me wrong, I agree with his points, but those bits of dialogue are awkward and don't quite stand the test of time without making me cringe a little. So yeah, if I wanted one of the films immortalised on my figure shelves at the expense of the other and the products were of equal quality, I'd definitely favour T1.

I agree (except that I still hold Alien higher than Aliens, even though like T2, Aliens is a much more epic movie.) T1 is just a perfect story. Period. Likewise, Alien just had the most "alien" feel to it. Aliens was just a shoot 'em up bug hunt that totally killed the mystique of the "xenomorph" for me.

Well, yes, it did reduce the Alien to a very killable insect-type creature, but the story was plausible and the overall film was just excellent so I excuse it for that personally. It didn't necessarily contradict anything in Alien or even the deleted cocoon scene from Alien. And even Ridley seems to consider it canon, wasn't there a ''building better worlds'' reference in Prometheus? Which originated in Aliens, not Alien, unless I'm mistaken.
