$500 for a hollow plastic batmobile with nice detailing and paint job, thats as much as i'd be willing to spend..maybe $560 tops. Finding room for this Batmobile would be a daunting task.

IF Batmobile to batmissle with shield option??? still worth $950

Agreed but don't care if there ain't no room to display as long as I got 1!

Now when they announce $700 everyone will be thrilled with how cheap it is. :lol

Maybe $400 because it hollow plastic:), no gatlings, no engine, no turbine, no internal working LCD display and no irritating fast forwarded techno pop song when you push the car!

I'm not saying that the HT Batmobile should have those features. My point is that you can get a lot more model car for your money from non comic fantasy/ sci fi genre companies. Danbury Mint 1/12 scale cars are still limited edition collectibles. I forgot to mention that the Danbury cars also have windows that roll up and down.

With all of the features that this car has, even with the scale difference, the Batmobile should not cost more than this, which was $495. A Big Wheel is a lot bigger than these models, and it doesn't cost $495. these Hot Toys are molded, and considering the simple paint scheme on this Batmobile and the much more complex one on the Danbury mint cars, the Batmobile should not cost more, but it likely will, just because comic people's passion for what they buy is usually greater than model car collectors, and NOT because comic genre collectors actually get more or even as much for their money. They get fleeced more because companies like HT know that they can fleece people more.

You are right. While a Big Wheel is bigger, it's a lot less intricate, and the makers of the Big Wheel *are* the trademark owners of the Big Wheel, so there are no licensing fees involved. There are a lot more factors that go into consideration when pricing a piece like this too. One is supply and demand. Part of the appeal of Hot Toys products is that you can't just walk into any Toy's R Us and pick one up like you could a generic action figure. And part of it is, the "wanting it tax"... like you said, we fans of a comics/sci fi characters, movies, props will often pay more than the sum of the manufacturing cost + a reasonable profit margin for the seller, just to have an item that we really want. Even considering that, for most of us, there is a limit.

As has become clear from the most recent posts in this thread....$950 is way beyond that limit.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was exactly the plan! Start a false rumour about some ridiculous price and later come out with the slightly less ridiculous price....... And it'd work on me. I think I could stomach that considering what I paid for the Tamiya fatboy for my T-800. :monkey3

It shouldn't cost more than the Tumbler, which was 400,500?The tumbler has a more advanced design too so i assume it was more difficult to do than the Batmobile.

But who knows,we know they had difficulties getting the license or if it was Nicholson only,so they probably had to overpay to get it so that might affect us collectors too.

Agreed, the tumbler was incredibly complex with a lot of parts, lights etc. This is basically a big (better) Mattel plastic shell. 900$ ??

No way.

Tumbler originally retailed for $399.99, and the Bat Pod was $299.99. the 89 Batmobile probably will retail for the same $399.99 but you know the eBay Dealers when this is first available will be selling it much higher. i still laugh when I see Tumblers on eBay & Amazon for $3000+...yah, i dont think so!!

They can keep the machine gun feature, the shields, the turning wheel and the light-up feature, sounds etc if it means that the price will stay under $300

eeeeehhh. I'd really want those features to be honest. Well not the shield thing, I have no idea how they could do that anyway. But the pop-up machines guns and lights are important at the least - otherwise this thing just won't seem like a high-end piece.

Between 2008 and 2011 there has been massive inflation + HT probably pays their sculptors and engineers a lot more now than they did then.

So Expecting Tumbler price of $400 is unrealistic. Which is why I was thinking $500-600. But $950 is crazy.

I think the machine gun feature is essential for this, and being a Hot Toys, the light up feature is expected considering they do it with Iron Man. Turning wheels are important for posing. I doubt there will be sounds, and I don't care about the shields. I want light up lights, jet exhaust, small lights in the gun barrels that flash would be nice, as well as a light up instrument cluster.

If $950 ends up being the price I'm 100% sure you can write off ever seeing an 89 Batwing....sorry no, I'm not. I am sure I wouldn't buy it though.

A 1/6 Batwing would have at least a 4 foot wingspan to look even close to decent looking. Actual scale wingspan probably 6 feet. Batwing would definitely take up more space than Batmobile, it seems to me. I seriously doubt we'll ever see one, regardless of cost, unless it's a one off, like that 1/6 scale Hasbro Millennium Falcon made for display.

The wings would have to be detacheable for packaging it up and it would be a new size precedent for HT but if anyone was going to have the balls to do it, it'd be HT. Thats why I backtracked after I said I was sure it'd never be done.

LOL $950!? kidding me? i was pissed about the iron man gantry pricing but this takes the cake.
