Nothing is confirmed, its just a post from a guy over on OSW, so no need to panic just yet.

I do suspect though that lots of people who are complaining about the cost will eventually end up getting it (assuming the $950 price is correct), considering some still pay over 1k for the Tumbler these days.

Can't compare new retail price to the secondary market value of a long sold out item.

I'm not comparing the price itself, I'm only stating the fact that people will still buy it, even if it goes for that much.

It's absolutely a must have, but I don't know if I'd go beyond 750 for it. More screenshots of the final product with Keaton Bats may break my will to be frugal....

Of course people will buy it, but only 20-30% of the the volume at $500 I'd say. In other words I think HT will generate more revenue at a more reasonable price point, than at $1,000.

Yes, I never assumed otherwise.

I prefer to invest to a real car if its $950
or i can buy a super radio controlled car

yes its a piece of art but on the end of the day it is just a molded piece of plastic guys.....
These prices are not collectors friendly any more

Eh, we are dropping almost $200 for glorified action figures. Why would HT think we wouldn't spend $500 for IM diorama, $450 for Iron Monger or $950 for a Batmobile. No need to start being reasonable :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Wow! 950 is a lot.

And this is coming from the guy that has the IM Gantry and Jake Sully on preorder and is actually not totally shocked at 450 for the Iron Monger.

950 pretty much ensures I won't be getting this guy. I only paid a little over 4 for the Tumbler!! And even when you factor in my Batpod the two together are still less than the 89 batmobile.

Yeah can't say this is entirely unexpected (if true).

What the 1/6 collecting community REALLY needs is a true competitor to HT. Enterbay has been blowing it for too long and have nowhere near the scale and resources.

Somebody needs to challenge HT, and fast!

Collectors unite! Listen up HT! We want the 89 Batmobile priced at 300 flat! Or else you can go suck it!

:nana:

If $950 is true, I think Hot Toys thought process was that it would look like a bargain compared to the $2,000 Toynami version. I for one wanted to get the Toynami, but could not justify 2k-the only piece in my collection that was worth over 1 grand to me was the MR Millennium Falcon. If the Hot Toys has working head lights, cockpit lights, rear jet engine lights and the option to raise the gun turrets-than its a lot more appealing and I might have take the plunge.

I really believe, things are changing in HT. A board meeting happened at somepoint where they decided they could be reaping a much bigger yield. They have become complacent and over confident IMO. They know they will sell this stuff regardless of the price. Which is fair enough if the quality of the product remains or excells. But there seems to be too much product coming out and not all of it is as good as it should be.

Its not entirely unreasonable to believe that this could retail for $950.

A few things to consider: HT lost money on the tumbler, its been three years of wild inflation, this should be larger than the tumbler and this could be a really expensive license for HT.

So.....:dunno

$950?? :monkey2:monkey2

At 950 they're not giving you anything to think about. It's an easy decision. $700 maybe people suffer and bite the bullet. But this might be another rebellion moment, like Indy.

Until its confirmed though, no one should go cutting their wrists just yet :lol

It's a little unfair to compare some of these features to this Batmobile model, no? Especially since they just weren't features of the car as it was in the first movie.

I'm not saying that the HT Batmobile should have those features. My point is that you can get a lot more model car for your money from non comic fantasy/ sci fi genre companies. Danbury Mint 1/12 scale cars are still limited edition collectibles. I forgot to mention that the Danbury cars also have windows that roll up and down.

With all of the features that this car has, even with the scale difference, the Batmobile should not cost more than this, which was $495. A Big Wheel is a lot bigger than these models, and it doesn't cost $495. these Hot Toys are molded, and considering the simple paint scheme on this Batmobile and the much more complex one on the Danbury mint cars, the Batmobile should not cost more, but it likely will, just because comic people's passion for what they buy is usually greater than model car collectors, and NOT because comic genre collectors actually get more or even as much for their money. They get fleeced more because companies like HT know that they can fleece people more.
