all this talk about harming someone is funny. if youre going to do it, then just do it.

Its too easy to say, if it happened to me i'd kill him or i'd snap, etc. it's a different story when you really have to deal with it.

Though it was a different type of situation, I have dealt with it before in the past when one of my ex-wife's co-workers was harassing and stalking her. Her employer and the police could/would do little about it. It's one of those ridiculous things where he had to actually harm her physically or overtly threaten her in front of a witness before they could do anything about it. So I took it upon myself to have a "nice chat" with the fellow. I told him in no uncertain terms that what he was doing was wrong, unappreciated and needed to stop before things escalated and he wound up regretting he were ever born. Problem solved.

That said, I don't see many people in here exactly calling for Neil to go and actually harm the guy physically.

I hate to hear that your home was violated....it happened to me before as well several years back (they got my custom shop Fender that I recorded and toured with) and it sucked. Having said that.....if you planned on doing something to someone, running to a collectibles company fan forums and posting about it is not all that great of an idea (though I assume it does feel a bit better to blow off some steam). I would suggest putting the Batman costume away and working with the police to hopefully catch the guy.

Agree.

The quiet one is always the one to watch.

I had my car broken into once, and that was a terrible feeling.
Cant imagine a burglar in Bagshot row! (or Tattoine for SW fans)

Its one thing when its just you. Buyt you have a family that depends on you. One stupid mistake and you AND youre family could be payin' for quite some time.

Dont get me wrong, Ol Tooks been known to blown a gasket every now n then, but use your head. It makes the most sense in "TheBig Picture"

So sorry to hear about this...but I am very glad you and your family were unharmed. If this guy is an addict, have you checked pawnshops to see if he sold your wife's parents' rings? I'm sure you have probably already thought of that. I do hope the police come through and are able to nab the s.o.b. I also worry about you taking matters into your own hands.....but it could prevent future break ins in your area if he knew that you and your neighborhood were on watch and were not going to stand idly by. Whatever you do, please be careful. :)

Sorry to hear about that. I am not familiar with Canada but if there is a Pawn Shop in the area, you could look there to see if your stuff is there. It's no consolation but at least you will have your memories back if they are. I hate theives but like everyone said, try not to do anything rash that you will regret. My advise is to update your locks and get a surveilance system with cameras at every angle of your house. They aren't that expensive and can usually be installed yourself. If nothing else this will deter someone from trying again and it will give your wife peace of mind.

I'm sorry to hear what happened. That really sucks and I sympathize with you as my old house was broken into twice. Luckily, I didn't collect Sideshow back then or I would had hunted the ******* down. But I was missing my bike and stereo.

Just be happy your family is safe from that lowlife. Nowadays, I have two large dogs, a large samurai sword collection, and a vast collection of hunting knives in case some turd decides to step inside my house and take a look around.

It is legal to hurt someone if they break into your house, correct? :lol

If you are in your home at the time of the break in you can do more than just hurt them, as long as you're in fear for your life (which any rational person should be).

This leads me back to my Michael Moore arguement. He went to great lengths in his Bowling for Columbine movie to say that guns should be banned. He said the crime is so much less in Canada. Yet in this one town in Georgia crime went way down when they made it mandatory to own a gun in your home. That's right in this town it is mandatory that you own a firearm. Granted Darth you weren't home. Still guns are not such a bad thing if not abused. https://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a38a75857671c.htm

You're referring to Kennesaw, correct? Yes, it's true that there is a law on the books here that makes owning a firearm mandatory for all homeowners. This of course has been ridiculed the world over for many years now (in my opinion, any law that mandates owning anything is rather silly, but that's neither here nor there). But what the anti-gun people will never pay attention to (or admit if they do) is that Kennesaw has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire Metro Atlanta area, if not the lowest.

That's my point. :D

it's easy to say you will hurt or kill someone. doing the deed is a different story.

sorry to hear that you lost irreplaceable items neil.

Long day.
Thanks for letting me blow off steam.
People are jumping to conclusions-- I needed to vent... thanks.
I'm just going for drives. That's all. Just got back from one now.
Very relaxing.

Sorry to hear this bad news!

There have been several break ins around here recently. I think that as the economy takes a downward turn this year, there will only be more of them.

:sick

As for violence, I am a devoted pacifist.

If you try to hurt my family, I'm going to pass a fist right through your face.

Glad to see you've got your head about you Neil. Just hug your wife and little girl and thank God that they are safe. :)

Hey Neil sorry to hear about your break in. Hang in there man, this loser will get his in the end.....My mom was mugged at gunpoint during a visit to Argentina by a 16 year old drug addict, he took a necklace that my father had given her 30 years earlier. My mother was shaken up and upset. I was infuriated when she called and told me. This loser had been mugging people all over town, he eventually got caught by the cops and decided to shoot it out with them, he wound up with a bullet in his head....I had mixed feelings when I heard what had happened, but I realized this guy was real dangerous and lucky that nothing happened to my Mom. As long as your wife and baby are safe thats the most important thing.

Haven't read all of the posts so I don't know if it has been said.

If you confront him...

you could end up throwing a punch and making him BLEED THE AIDS VIRUS you said he probably has.

I would not want the aids virus that close to me... screw that!

The guy is obviously a loser. Your family is safe. He will get his in due time. Let it be.

Neil, where abouts in Canada are you from? I'm here in Alberta, sorry to hear the bad news man, hopefully your wife will get over it soon! I wouldn't like to see my wife in tears either, take care!
