Neil, where abouts in Canada are you from? I'm here in Alberta, sorry to hear the bad news man, hopefully your wife will get over it soon! I wouldn't like to see my wife in tears either, take care!

East coast... Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks Josh...

So here was my week--

Monday:

1)Take my SUV to the Autoglass Shop to discover that the small chip can no longer be fixed so they have to replace the entire windshield. (cha ching $$$)

2)Get home with my daughter in my arms to discover my front door kicked in (already gone into that at length).

3)While making sure that the SOB is out of the house I discover a massive puddle at the base of my stairs-- left by someone's boots you say? (and that's what I thought at first) No, I've got a massive leak in my roof with the excess snow but at least I finally have an excuse to use that nice bucket.

Tuesday:

4)Things can only get better, right?... Wake up to discover that the eaves trough (sp?) at the back of my house ripped off and came down due to the build-up of ice... taking out my back light as it did so.

Wednesday:

5)Last night my mother was rushed to the emergency room for a dangerously elevated blood pressure.

Well-- at least I'm supposed to be getting the 1:1 Yoda from Rory Monday, so things should even out right? Who wants to put money down that it arrives in twenty seven pieces thanks to a fervent game of Fed-Ex hackie sac?

Update for anyone that cares. I've been driving around (with a nine-iron in my SUV) not solely for relaxation-- I've also been looking for the SOB who broke in... and before the vigilanty experts chime in, I am smarter than the average bear. I'm not going to randomly attack someone... I'm trying to find him so that I can tail him and hopefully catch him in the act. Find him, tail him, observe him going into someone else's home and then call the cops on my cell and wait for A) them to arrive or B) him to exit the premises where I'll "detain" him until they arrive so he can be caught red-handed... That's what I've been doing (and blowing off steam here has been good, thanks) but here's what's officially happened while I've been playing the role of Nancy Drew.

The police picked him up and held him for questioning that lasted over 9 hours. I believe they have him admitting to one of the officers that "yes, he broke into my home". They played up the emotional angle about me only wanting the tape back of my daughter's Christmas and if he promised to give it to them he wouldn't be charged with the break-in. He was let go to get the tape-- unknown to him he was still under surveillance (well additional surveillance to the amateur golfer who was driving around a every available opportunity to find him only knowing the street that he supposedly lived on and not the specifics) and while being observed he broke into another home IMMEDIATELY. The police are looking for him to bring him in (I'm not entirely sure how he could have slipped them if he was being observed but anyway) and as it was told to me it seems pretty definite that they've got him for the new break-in and possibly mine (with his admittance of guilt and some other evidence)... I'm anxiously looking forward to some good news before the end of this week as it was stated that he'll be "going away" which I know will be a sigh of relieve for this community as the stories I've heard since Monday boggle the mind how this guy has been allowed/able to continue to do B & E's like this.

Anyway-- my wife and I are getting an alarm system and things are somewhat returning to normal. I've gone the pawn shops in the area and I'm still trying to track down the missing items (particularly the lost rings)-- That's when I'm the Hardy Boys. I'm Nancy Drew with the nine iron.

Thanks for all of the positive thoughts and support. It's been greatly appreciated to what has been a pretty crappy beginning to '08.

"Dexter"... Is that the serial killer show on HBO? Haven't had a chance to catch it yet. Heard good things.

Showtime, and it is a terrific show. He's a serial killer, but he only stalks and dispatches bad people. ;)

Season 2 just ended and Season 1 has been on DVD for a couple of months. I highly recommend this show to anyone on these boards. :rock

That's great news Neil... It's a horrible feeling when your home gets broken into, especially when you have kids. Some people out there are just begging to be taught a lesson, I hope when he is being sodomized in prison... he learns his.

I truly hope things get better on your end bro, and that your family and yourself remain safe in the future. The alarm should help.

I'm glad you didn't have to confront him face to face though, Canadians are not ones to mess with....

Hell, the VIKINGS came into NE Canada and were run off.... They found the natives to be TOO hardcore for their liking. And if Norsemen are intimidated by the locals, you know they must have been bad ass. :lol

I hope it all works out in the end. My thoughts are with you.

Aside from an alarm, I could also recommend you get a dog. I have two, and believe me, no one approaches my house. :lol

Just read this thread now, and i'm glad things are starting to work out for the best. I hear ya, if anybody broke into my place or ever tried to hurt my family or take our stuff, i'd want to take it into my own hands as well. Glad things are getting better! :rock

Thanks.

Love the new signature!

Update for you supportive FREAKS.

The RCMP (Canadian police) have recovered four of the five rings that were stolen (I say four of five because we discovered that there was a fifth ring that my wife never even realized was missing). It's good news as both her father's wedding band and her mother's wedding set were recovered and obviously they have a huge sentimental value.

Anyway the guy's in court on Tuesday so I'm hoping that they give him something substantial.

No chance of recovering the video camera or the tape with my daughter's Christmas on it as he sold the camera to a drug dealer and the tape was tossed.

Neil glad to read things are at least getting a little better. My grandmother told me on more than one occasion that what goes around comes around. I do honestly believe that.

Hadnt said anything earlier but Im glad he was caught and at least you got the 2 most important rings back. Sucks about the tape though. I hope the case is iron clad though and he goes away for a decent amount again. Do you know if he was on parole or anything? Ah well I am sure you will be at court just to see what happens. Know I would. Anyway, glad things have come out as best as they could.

Very happy to hear that you got most of your rings back. :) Hopefully the legal system will hand down a proper sentence.

I missed this thread until now, glad to hear things are working out. Its really f'd up how someone can be so messed-up that they'd do something like that.
