Neil, do they allow "Victim Impact Statements" in these cases? Just curious because you may be able to convince the judge for a fairly harsh sentence. :lol

I've already written one...
It's three pages typed. When I submitted it to the courthouse this morning the woman who looks after the victim impact statements said after reading it (I asked if I was in the right ballpark) that she wasn't one to tear up but she felt that it was one of the most powerful ones she had ever read. She asked if I was a writer and I said that I've got some things on the go (which I do)... Anyway she definitely thought that it was powerful and she was sure that the judge was going to appreciate it.

I hope that it punches him in the balls and sends him away for double what the judge might have originally given him. Coincidently the woman who read it had HER purse stolen by the same guy out of her locked office and she felt that my words captured her feelings of the violation exactly, which is what I was aiming for (she was never able to press charges as it was never definitively proven that it was him). I also let a couple of the people who I work with read it and they agreed that I had spoken for them as well. One had his elderly mother's home robbed by the guy (not enough proof) and in fact she came home unexpectedly and the guy was still in her house (she lives in fear) and the other guy had been warned that this thief had been seen casing his place (his wife and two young daughters had come home one day and his wife swore that she heard someone right outside the door speak to her). He's been literally terrorizing this community.

Anyway if I'm happy with the sentencing maybe I'll share some of the good bits on here. I do have a good section where I talk about possibly buying a German shepherd but not putting up a beware of dog sign as I hope that the next unwanted visitor in my home will be surprised by the loving embrace of his canine mandible.

Cheers, and thanks once again for all of the support.

And that is the number one reason I miss having a German Shepherd. Best damn dogs in the world :rock Heh heh, loving embrace of his canine mandible. Love it.

It's something, dude. And that's almost 3 years. Will he be eligible for "Go On Out And Do It Again Son, No Problem!"... err, I mean "Parole" before then?

Not sure, but as it's not his first time up river don't think there'll be early parole. But I could be wrong.

Good to hear that he got something, thats not a great sentence but not really a bad one either. I guess it depends on how much the stiff was worth total. If it falls below a certain level, the sentence will typically be pretty low. Yeah he may get out in 9 - 10 months but at least you know where he is for a while.

Ive just seen and read this for the first time. Sorry to hear what youve been going through DN but im pleased they got the guy and you got some of your precious items back.I hope the guy stays locked away for the full term.

All my best to you and your family :duff
