There seem to be a lot of fans with the same problem they accuse Lucas of. Star Wars is not their own. Those who have no issue with culling from everything available in the license, that which they prefer have the right approach. Those who believe that the existence of elements of the license which they personally dislike are somehow degrading that which they do like, are in serious need of a check on their grossly overbearing pretentiousness.
I am arguing for the continuing availability of the original trilogy precisely to maximise everyone's enjoyment of SW. I may not enjoy them, but I have nothing against the SEs, EU or any other incarnation of Star Wars existing.
What upsets me is that Lucas is actively trying to suppress the foundation of everything that has come after it. Its not like when he withdrew some obscure embarrassment like the SW Christmas Special that barely anyone had access to outside of bootleg copies. He wants to do away with the original version of the films that defined Star Wars almost entirely for twenty years.
