Excellent custom. Congrats on that!

Ok so the 2nd head is conjecture. As for Yulli sculpting Heath first:

Hello!

Happy New Year~!
I want to say hello to you guys here!
Please be happy every day in this year! ^-^

For the past year, I have done quite a lot of sculpting and art direction works, but I think my sculpting is not good enough.^^ So today in 2012, I want to start again and do my job better and better.

For the most interesting works last year, number one is Jack Nicholson’s Joker.
This character is very funny and has a devil face. When I sculpt this kind of head, I must need to think two points: one is Jack Nicholson’s normal face before make-up; another one is Joker’s face after make-up.

If we only check the face after make-up, it is not good enough because it may only look like Joker, but not Jack Nicholson. So I check both normal and make-up faces very carefully when I do this job. And I got this idea after making Heath Ledger’s Joker head sculpt long time ago.

First of all what does she think by a long time ago? Does she mean when she first started doing the V1 and BRJ Jokers or the DX one, which still looks nothing like Ledger.

She may have gotten the idea a long time ago but she never did anything about it until now.

Yeah I'm sticking to my DX01. Maybe pick up some of the clothing and accessories if they aren't overpriced on eBay. Prefer the 01 headsculpt.

Now where are my Rises figures!?!

Reserving judgment until I see more pictures and hopefully a second sculpt. Until then, I'm happy with this one:

I love the tailoring, this shows you how the good of a tailor Kato is.

Did you sand down the arms like Kato said to do?

If you look at any of the previous hot toys sculpts of the joker they look ok but there are far supior sculpts out there.heath ledger was the joker, with 3 small prosthetics and makeup on.a good headsculpt should look like heath ledger with small prosthetics and makeup on.I start by sculpting heath first ,no joker reference photos until I am adding scars and an expresion.if I was to take the makeup off and sand down the scars on any of the previous ht releases it looks nothing like heath.

Steve? ...are we evvvver getting any of your sculpts?:monkey2

Here are my thoughts on the headsculpt.

UNDERWHELMED. It's a nice headsculpt but I don't feel like this is some big leap in advancements considering this is their 5th go at a TDK Joker portrait. It looks like they merged the slicked back hair Bank Robber Joker head with the DX 01. I mean, it looks like we could have gotten this in 2009 really.

I mean again, it's by no means a bad sculpt but I don't think this is a significant upgrade that's on par with the improved clothing. No smile? Another "serious" expression? Still the dark green, moss colored hair? The big puppy eyed PERS (unlike the smaller eyed Jack Sparrow and Keaton Batman)? I don't know, I just expected more. Even the clown paint make up isn't that different from the DX 01.

I sort have have this one between these two,

Big whiff on the choice of expression IMO. Hoping there's a 2nd sculpt but not holding my breath.

Sculpt is definitely an improvement over HT's previous offerings, but honestly, I was expecting more - let's see with the full reveal and the 2nd sculpt.

Anyway I think the expression is actually this:

And here is a good angle to compare the sculpt

I like what I see overall but I have 2 main issues
1. Hair is still wrong
2. If you're using an expression from the interrogation scene (which I'm convinced it is), then paint the damn thing in that scheme! Of course they could give us another head with that scheme so let's see

It's not, but just straight up sculpting the Joker isn't wrong either.

:lecture:exactly::goodpost:

exactly mr. face. some people don't see a useful discussion of the merits and drawbacks of both approaches, as much as an opportunity to pick one side and go for for all out nuclear war.

Pre-ordered with OSB. He can sit alongside the DX01 and compare notes.

Ordering this one was the final impetus I needed to cancel the '89 Jack Joker - who needs a dead Joker impersonator anyway!

Now if only HT gets the license to make a Cesar Romero version...

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I'm actually using standard true type upper arms (bicep and tricep) parts on the advanced TT which was the other suggested option.

I wonder if Kato had to make the shirt bigger this time in that area or if Hot Toys is making a special body for this one (standard/advanced combo).

Umair, do you know anything about it?:dunno

It isn't if you can nail it.

So far HT have not nailed it and I get the impression they are sculpting joker straight up. As previously just stated if you take off the war paint and scars of the HT heads you are left with a sculpt that just resembles 'somebody' and not Heath.

I'm not sure what issue you are referring to exactly, but I do know that you're just angry and more than a bit jealous because you know the others are right!

:lol Fourth attempt at Ledger Joker, sixth Joker/Ledger head and it's still off. It's not Ledger's face since many customizers have nailed it but it's still off. Especially the hair!
