I don't think the design really stands out. He looks like an second class villain from a Japanese Manga or something. It does look better than Rourke in orange pants though.

true. but I've always just assumed projectiles(of some sort) and flying where standard "Iron Armor" stuff

Do you think there would be anyway for HT to attempt to build the new IM suit over a TT for the new figure?

I don't see how that would really improve or benefit anything, just make it way harder to pose and like a hundred times more likely to break an arm or leg joint.

Remember guys that is the comic book adaptation of what Whiplash might look like, not was he will look like. Also, the flying components were in the boots with the compartments in the palm the stabilizing pieces. Those could easily be in there. As for long range weaponry, the whips extend really far and as far as we know he is a brawler so he'd want up close. Who knows though it might look completely different.
