SPOILER***

To me it looked like Harry was pretty much dead after Venom threw him off the building, he was stabbed pretty bad so I didn't think there would be that moment afterwards where he was lying there still alive with Mary Jane there, so perhaps Peter thought he was already dead. He didn't have a chance anyways, and it's not like Peter could take a moment away from Venom to go talk to his dying friend.

Harry sacrifices himself and gets mortally stabbed by Venom, Peter witnesses it. I would think he would go after his former best friend as soon as he was capable. Instead he spends several minutes chatting with Sandman first. COME ON!!!!!!! That was the worst piece of behavior I have seen in a while on the silver screen.

I didn't like that too much either :(

I attended the midnight premiere too, and it audience was quiet and it was close to a perfect showing
:chew

I actually think that how the film ended was just not right. That final fight is a real cliché and almost reminded of Batman & Robin (I'm a bit rough on this one :D ). Plus, that alliance between Pete and Harry was too predictable. I do hope that there will be a 4th film that will properly conclude the saga. It would bother were SM3 to be the last of Spidey's films.

SPOILER:

Another thing I did not like was the last sequence.

Both 1 and 2 had Spidey moving quickly through the city with his theme music. Part 1 was really good with the US flag behind him as he went towards the camera. :)

This one...nothing!

<sigh>

Again, it is good but not great.

I also felt it was the weakest of the 3 films, but not because there were too many villians, or it was silly or lacked action. The one thing that has made the Spidey franchise great has been the focus on characters - this was no different, it's about another landmark in Peter's life.

I thought Venom looked great although some of the sand CGI looked kind of bad. They've set up Brock as an alter-ego to Peter - when Peter gets the symbiote his inherent goodness means that "evil" for him is sporting an emo haircut and taunting his ex-girlfriend. But when Brock gets the symbiote it's all about kidnapping and murder.

I overheard a lot of disappointed fanboys leaving the theater, so I don't know that this film will do as well as 2, but I'd like to see it continue - especially if it means more Gwen.

Spoiler

I loved what they did with Harry, although I didn't think he had to die. The butler coming out and convincing him that Spidey didn't kill Norman was kind of cheesy though.

i couldn't stand the insane CGI camera moves in the first spidey/harry fight. i could barley tell what was going on with all the tumbling and falling camera moves. it was like the spidey/doc oc fight on fast forward.:rotl

i liked part 2 better, but then again, i'm not a spiderman fan.:monkey1

it's funny how some fans will never be happy. they ***** about superman fighting a kryptonite island and then they ***** about too many villians in spiderman 3.

Yeah for the first time an American film is released earlier in France (feels good to say that :lol )
I saw the movie this morning and it was really good. Better than the first two IMO. Sam Raimi wanted mostly to show how Peter Parker felt especially when he's possessed by the Symbiote. I don't want to spoil everything so I won't say much.
The only character that truly disappointed me was Venom. First, we HARDLY see him (I think you all guessed that it was pretty difficult to make a 2-hour long movie with 3 villains...). Plus, what the hell happened to the character designer? Did he lose his mind? I mean Venom looks bad (not bad ass, just BAD). Even the Medicom figure looks much better! I think the people who had the responsibility to design Venom for the film should have read Spidey comic books from the 90's to see what Venom's like and how he should behave.

Overall I spent a great time and I'm sure you will too.

We in argentina was saw yesterday:rotfl

talk about a perfect 5... out of 10! talk about a perfect balance (do one thing right, another wrong)... talk about giving us a complete middle of the road film! the franchise needs an overhaul! Raimi's dumbed down liberty taking, cookie - cutter, mask - offing, approach is more than old... each of the three films is now burdened with the same formula... just insert new villan! sloppy! he likes to keep ramming the "with power comes responsibility" theme down our throats... perhaps Raimi should apply it to his own craft?

I have been avoiding this thread for the last couple days now and I finally got home from seeing it. I thought it was really good and I do not want to sound girly but that movie was an emotional rollercoaster I got watery eyed a couple times throughout it.:monkey2 I wish Venom woulf of been in there longer but who knows with 3 more movies coming who knows what to expect.

Yeah i thought it was very good as well.(what i expected)Something felt like it was missing for me though when it was all over. But overall i liked it a lot, loved seeing nerdy PP get his pimp/ dance moves on though...GREAT!!!!whole audience was bustin on that!(will give my Medicom PP that much more life and meaning when i look at it :D )

I was a little disappointed myself. For me it lacked the heart, wit and charm the first two had. A bit too chessy(the butler speech) and silly(the "I gots me some new threads" dance that Peter did). But overall it was watchable.

And I'll be danged if I didn't catch glimpses of K.D. Lang in Toby while he had his hair combed down in front.:D

Harry gets stabbed, falls off the building, Spider-Man takes care of Venom. THEN he chats with Sandman. I don't know about you, but if my best friend could be dead or dying, I would rush to find out and be by his side... It felt totally dishonest in terms of behavior, especially talking about Peter Parker. And let's not forget Harry was wounded to save Peter. And most importantly, Spider-Man could get Harry to a hospital within a few minutes. Every second counts and he listens to the apology of the man who murdered his uncle, instead of rushing to save his friend. As long as Harry's head was attached to his body, Peter would/should have hope that Harry is still alive. Ain't buyin' it!

Just got back.... I have to say I'm full of mixed emotions. I liked a lot of it, in fact some scenes were as classic as I expected them to be. But, that said...

I just think the whole Emo Pete dancing in the street was a little too campy for my taste. It just seemed like it dumbed down the material and made it laughable. The Symbiote saga is supposed to be one of the darkest chapters of SM history and I can tell you one thing.... Pete was NOT dancing in the streets during that classic tale. The Jazz scene also seemed out of place, although pretty impressive to watch.

They did some stuff right with Venom, but didn't give it enough time to really feel as threatening as it should have been. I would have liked to see it go further.

Harry was perfect IMO, loved the transition he went through... and it was badass to see him play Peter like he did. Much better than his Father in that regard. Sandman was perfect, but again... not enough time to fully flesh it out and make him more of a whole character.

The biggest issue this movie had was that it tried to cram WAAAY too much story into a single film. You can't have that same level of character development and buildup that made SM2 so great.... not with one movie. It could have been a great Sandman movie... or a great Venom movie... and an outstandingly great Goblin movie.... maybe with a Venom cliffhanger ending. But instead we get too much. I appreciate the effort by Raimi, Tobey and co. .... But it was too much to take, and felt too rushed.

But I have to say this... Best Bruce Campbell bit ever, at least in the Spidey movies. Loved that part. The whole theater was laughing. :rock

Campbell is the most over rated nerd creation so far and he can eat my nuts! Oh my gosh this black suit is effecting me! :D

yeah... the Bruce Campbell bit was perfect......... for an SNL skit... just another example of one of the many tacked-on scenes of the movie (so many characters to deal with and they choose to break out a Mr. Furley / Jack Tripper routine?)

No, that would be Kevin Smith...

The campiness of the evil Peter bothered me at first, but as I said previously - evil Peter is just silly and that's what they were going for. The reactions of the women on the street made it obvious that he's just being a super smug creep because Peter CAN'T be truly evil.

Just got back and its late so a short summation of my thoughts. I really liked it. Overall, it was very well done the best of the three so far IMO. I liked the whole symboite suit part but I prefer him in black honestly. There could have been more character development as far as Sandman and Venom goes. Also they could have used Venom more in the movie or saved him for Spidey 4 that's my main gripe from this movie.

Saw it last night and I must say for a movie that is supposed to be very dark it had many funny scenes. I loved it, if there was a top 10 greatest super-hero throwdowns then this movie would have at least 4 on the list.

The opening fight with Goblin,jr.

Black Spidey vs The Sandman

Harry vs Peter

Spidey & Goblin vs. Venom & The Sandman

Not to mention the climactic finale Venom vs Spidey and his pipes

I liked that there is a slight cliffhanger at the end.

I anxiously look forward to part 4 as I watch it today for the second time on IMAX.

I just got back as well, and I have to admit I'm more than a bit surprised by some of the, well... venom in some of the comments. Was it the best of the three? Maybe, maybe not. But it was very good. I can understand some of the complaints (such as the butler), but those are minor quibbles to me.

Maybe my enjoyment of the film comes in part from the fact that I have never been a big Venom fan. For me, he got just about the right amount of screen time in this installment. After all, the core of the film was about how Spider-Man interacted with the symbiote suit, not how Venom came to be.

Just got home... WOW!... I must say that I was bored out of my mind! Out of the 2 1/2 hours I thougth there was 20 min. that was good. The dancing, singing, and CRYING were terrible. I went to the film with 6 people who overall like Spidey 1 and 2. All 7 of us agreed that it sucked. If I could I would take my money back in a heart beat.
