New International Poster For The Karate Kid
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on May 03, 2010

The greatest action hero to have ever been in movies, Jackie Chan, twittered this morning (well, this morning my time anyway) that Sony finally released the international poster for the remake of The Karate Kid starring Will Smith's perfect love child and Jackie.

I've seen the movie and while it looks nice, it's pretty much the exact same film from the 80's except little kids are hitting on each other and it's creepy (especially when the little girl does a stripper dance). But instead of teenagers, this one has stupid little kids beating up on each other and Jaden Smith stares at his hands a lot, confused as to which one he's going to use to slap his future ex wife with.

The poster would actually be pretty awesome if they took Jaden out of it because he looks so goofy. I don't know if it's that chipmunk little face of his, his hair, or the fact that his father keeps shoving him into movies. I can't wait for the Smith's remake of Goodfellas in three years.

Check out the international poster below.

In case you're wondering what the poster says, I've translated it for you:

This movie will make a ton of money.
And there isn't a damn thing you can do about it.

Love,
Will Smith

:lol:lol:lol

The kid soo looks like Reily from Boondocks!

I probably wouldnt have as much problem with this if 1. the kid was actually learning karate and it took place in America or Japan or 2. if your gonna have the kid learn Kung Fu in China, change the name to The Kung Fu Kid. Karate and Kung Fu are two seperate martial arts created by two seperate cultures. Seriously have some respect.

I would probably give this a chance if it had almost anyone else but Will Smith's kid. I just can't stand him. He's already got an attitude. I love Jackie Chan though.

I hope it bombs.

I saw the trailer for this movie tonight at Shrek 4. I don't care what anybody says. It looks like a very good movie.

Except for 1 thing. The movie is called "Karate Kid". In it, Jackie Chan tells the kid, "I will teach you real Kung-Fu".

I won't see this....ever. TKK was a classic 80's movie that I own on DVD. I have zero interest in this remake. Just more proof that there are not many original ideas left in Hollywood.

I personally think a remake of this is a bad idea, especially with Jaden Smith. If he waits till he is 16 or 17, then maybe, but not now with a ROMPER ROOM version of one of my favorite movies.

UPDATED CAST:

Daniel - Jaden Smith
Johnny - Haley Joel Osmet
Ali - Dakota Fanning
Mr. Miyagi - George Takei
John Kreese - Samuel L. Jackson

Funny vid thanks for sharing.

I like your cast choices for miyagi and kreese, would be so much better than this chan and jaden smith **** stain of a movie.

Don't like jackie chan and the whole jaden slant is just for the black dollar which makes me wanna vomit.

It will be corny as jadens head and will have a 50 cent soundtrack lol

the original movie was on last night, and i watched it. i haven't seen it in a quite a few years, so i had forgotten a lot of it, and i have to say...every single bit of it was brilliant. miyagi was hilarious, and brilliantly acted, along with daniel. every one did a great job in the movie, and whoever wrote the screenplay deserves a s__load of praise.

this remake will ruin everything this movie was. it will make new generations forget the original, and that will be a huge disappointment. hollywood.....WAKE THE F UP!!

There's a huge difference between a good trailer and a good movie...
also, it looks beautifully shot, but that doesn't mean the movie is good either...
The great thing about the 1st one, was the awesome relationship between Daniel and Mr. Miyagi, and it's obvious that's missing here, even in the trailers.

Also, the concept of something like this re-make really happening, seems so far-fetched, that it feels forced.

And a few comments regarding the trailer:

- Smith's kid is a terrible kid actor... (remember him in The Day the Earth Stood still... oh and in Pursuit of Happiness... *cringes*)
- Looks pretty but with no real substance... the whole put the jacket on seems quite forced... oh and the bamboos-tied to the wrists :cuckoo:
- Jackie Chan beating up 12 y.o. ??? :gah:

I could go on and on, but why bother!!

Yep,
and don't forget that Pat Morita got nominated for an Oscar for his performance as Mr. Miyagi...
I finally caved in and got the Blu-Ray combo,
I saw the first one already and it's awesome!!!
I'm watching the second one, and I've always thought it's quite under-rated, I love it too!!!
And they look beautiful in Blu!!!
:rock!

I will say that I can't agree that the remake will somehow "ruin" the first one. How so? In 10 years NO ONE will even remember this remake or pay attention to it, but the original will still live on for those that love it. The remake doesn't ruin anything about the original IMO. I just don't care about it, won't watch it and pay no attention to it.

:goodpost: :lecture :lecture :rock

I won't see it either, no interest.

Love your new Avatar Shell!! :hi5:

The Tournament announcer said it best in Karate Kid 2:
"People are gonna be talking about that
last kick for years."
