Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

That's what everyone says... Until it happens to a figure that they own :lol

Don't know if you saw, but back at the Gordon thread everyone who bought it, including the usual iminime supporters like Raymond Ferraro, intothevoid etc expressed their disagreement, despite Denny stating that the gordon clothing set will be different and will be improved.

:exactly::lecture

But my love for GBU wants to see an improved Blondie and Tuco.

Yeah I remember that... I think it was timing on the Gordon, its been what 2/3 years since Rainman's Blondie. Gordon was a few months or so... yes those who are looking to keep their figures as an exclusive, and a premium etc etc will obviously complain and not want it.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

The point is no one wants to be stuck with a subpar figure. :lol

From a customer point of view, getting a new improved figure that you missed out is no brainer. But there's other POV such as rainman's potential sales in his niche market and what the previous owners of the figure who has supported him in the beginning have to say.

Rainman ain't HT where they can afford not to listen to the customers. Like iminime, he have to listen (and always have) to his fan base, IMO. I'm saying this all without owning the angel eyes figure btw :lol

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I for one am not a fan of reissuing figures. There has to be significant improvements made to justify it at all in my opinion. Everybody wants the definitive version of each character but it is a bit of a slap in the face to those who supported in the first place and bought up the initial run's. Rainman and Iminime as Hydeous states above can not afford to do that they have to listen to there fans as they operate very much within a niche market and need to keep there customers onside. The bigger they get the less they will listen i.e. Hot Toys. I for one do not want to see this happen.

If Iminime and Trev want to do a Blondie figure then fine it's not like these are licensed figures it's all fair game. I am however a little but disappointed that Rainman has clearly ok'd it makes me wonder what else from his back catalogue will be revamped so to speak. The only figure he has done in the past that I could see needing a revamp is his Tyler V1 (and that's just the sculpt) and it seem's Iminime have plans for that one. The biggest disappointment for me is the fact that this is the secret project. I was told for months it was going to blow my mind and frankly this hasn't at all! Apart from Trev being back on the boards so soon I don't see what there is to get excited about. Blondie has already been done by 3 top artists I don't think we really need a 4th. That is however just my opinion and it is all subjective there are clearly a number on here who will strongly disagree with me and are very excited about this project.

Oh and I don't own any of Rainman's GBU Figs

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I would be interested in the rifle, but not if it increases the price.

The Rifle isnt a part of the release, Im just seeing how many hardcore Blondie fans there are who might be interested in it as another small project on the side...

What if I said that this release has been made to make sure it is significantly improves the previous 2 offerings (I dont remember a 3rd artist other than Rainman and Scott) And ofcourse to make sure its the definitive version. I didnt buy Rainman's Blondie set as well as Velvet Morning's. I had a chance to acquire both later too and had considered too because of my love for the character but was always dissuaded at the end with the thought that they werent definitive enough - for me. Primarily for the likeness on the sculpt, secondary for the tailoring of the shirt and some inaccuracies on the Poncho specially etc etc. Both releases had their own share of strengths and weaknesses.

And supporting and buying the initial runs shouldnt be any argument, those who bought it bought it sure well thinking that this was as definitive as it could be... So if someone can improve on it I really dont see why they should be disappointed on the new maker.

This project is between iminime and Trevor - they don't need rainman's approval.

I was replying in regards to the remake of angel eyes by rainman actually.

The other version was by addblue I believe (something like that can't quite remember the exact name). I'm sure this will be a step up on the previous efforts especially the sculpt as everything Trev works on turns out to be gold. I have yet to see Iminime come close to the likes of Rainman in terms of tailoring but they are getting significantly better with each release so only time will tell. My argument was more why another Blondie more than anything else why not do something else that has not been done before. Look the demand is obviously there this will sell out and a lot of people seem to be excited about this I just for the life of me can't see why. As far as 'secret projects' go this one has disappointed me.

Iminime and Rainman clearly work closely together. Rainman is there Art Director and does some sculpting for them. There is no way Denny went ahead with this without his approval its just common courtesy.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

i have one in diecast metal, but a new would be a great addition for this project

Although i can agree a little to that statement....but this give the chance to individuals who never got the chance to own RM Blondie figure....i have been dying to try and find one...lucked out and did find one but had that never would have happened this would have been a major score for me espeically have it done by Trev. I would love for them to put The Dude back out....but that i think would be a fairy tale.....:(

Yes, but Addblue didnt really do Blondie, they are just a clothing team. They made a clothing set for some Korean artists who were modding their own Rainman Blondie like Lalla and SeanStudio's Sean.

As for Iminime's tailoring skills, again let me remind you like all other aspects of this project, it is being ensured that the clothing too is a step up from the previous versions. As I can see you are not really a huge Blondie fan so inaccuracies which crop on us OCD fan's eyes are not the same, so the room for improvements which you dont notice in these releases are prominent to us.

In another way of thinking, a selfish one, I have waited for the most definitive Blondie, and I dont buy different versions of one character. And being personally involved in the project I will ofcourse be selfish and want to make sure that the figure I get is the ultimate best which cant be upstaged for a long enough time... the other buyers will benefit from that act of selfishness :lol

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

How many of you would be interested in a separate Sharps Rifle that Blondie uses towards the end of the movie to shoot and cut Tuco's rope?
I would maybe pick one up if the price wasn't very high, but I don't see this as essential, and wouldn't go crazy spending vast sums of money to get one.

Regarding the remakes, I have no problem with them. But then, I've never been one to get wrapped up in the "special, limited" nature of some of these figures. I like what custom artists like Rainman do because no one else is doing those kinds of characters with that level of quality (though Iminime is no slouch!). When I pay the money these things command, I feel I am paying that for a quality product. I'm not paying that because I want to be part of an elite club that owns something special that others can't have.

If someone else wants to tackle the Dude--great! I have my Rainman figure that I love, but power to whoever wants to capitalize on the character's popularity and give others a chance to have a Dude in their collection (in fact, I would encourage that because it would mean my chances of getting a Walter go way up!). I know others have a different perspective on this, but I suspect there are quite a few Rainman collectors who feel as I do.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

to be honest with you, I had a clear shot at a RM Blondie but because I was never a huge Fan of the GBU, i simply passed it up...i did like the craftmanship BUT i didn't think the price they were asking went with the product they were selling....NOW this one....just looking at the sculpt...without being painted...looks EXACTLY like Clint Eastwood....with the painting going on at Iminime's...this will be a little person....i know Axe mentioned that everything is being revamped for this figure...because i really hope that the clothing is on par with something like a Kato product...:)

True, but being the gentleman that Rainman is, he's not going to tell Denny how to run his business. Thats just common courtesy.

What, hes gonna say "dont do blondie, because I've done blondie already under my company Rainman Artwork. So since I'm a director at iminime, I forbid you to do that character." :dunno :slap

No but he could request certain characters are not attempted. I just don't want Iminime's releases to be comprised of re releases. It doesn't matter if its Rainman, Iminime or Hot Toys I am not a fan of reissues period. If others think this one will be noticeably better than the others that have come before then great it will sell well and it makes perfect sense as a business move doesn't mean I have to approve. I just don't see why Blondie needs to be remade but to be fair I am not a GBU or indeed a Blondie fan so as Axe previously stated any marked improvements with this one compared with the existing ones will probably be lost on me. I just don't want it to become the norm that certain figures that are already close to being or indeed spot on are remade to cater the markets need. If you miss out you miss out and you go to the secondary market. There's loads of stuff I want I don't have but still wouldn't want to see them remade.

Different people want different things that's part of life we just don't quite agree on certain aspects of the hobby. Each to there own. I collect because I love a movie or a video game or a TV show and I want a representation in my collection. I don't collect for value everything is displayed and you can count on 1 hand the number of pieces I have sold since I started 3 years ago. The reason I am stating this is most people's immediate assumption to someone with the POV I have is I am interested in protecting the value of my figures. I am not.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I am not saying its one on done for every character that could possibly be done of course as the hobby progresses companies will think they can do better and will want to put out the best option they can for collectors. Just don't want to see everybody doing the same characters all the time. In al honesty the main reason I'm saying any of this is pretty much for selfish reasons. I was expecting a lot more from the Secret Project not a figures that's already been done to a high standard twice. That being said I am happy for all that are excited this is happening.

Doesn't mean I can't be bitter lol ;)

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I think the remake issue is a pitfall and standard of the hobby. You have to take teh good with the bad. My Mark I Iron Man was worth nearly $1,000 the day before the 2.0 was announced. Now? I doubt i could get $150 for it. Same for the DX Joker and Batmans. I paid $400 for the DX1 when I bought it after it sold out. i recently sold it for $135. Barely half of the cost of the Joker 2.0.

It's just how things go in the hobby. It sucks to pay $1000 for something and then a year or two later see a better version out for $300 less... but the premium you paid was for having a figure that no one else had at the time you had it. Heck I bought a WGP Penguin and I've got a Sunhoc Morpheus coming... Ive probably put $2500 into just those two figures... chances are a year from now both will have bot only been re-released by others but also improved *well maybe except for Kato's morpheus coat.
