Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

lol..not nit picking...but if you look at the doctor staff he did earlier in the year...all look off...and stylaized...and yet they were made with incrediblt detail...not takinng anything away from him skills but on the realistic facial expressions....there are other artists that are better....Iminime's artists.....Trevor, adam, and even RM!!!....just saying...:)

You forgot Beto! :thwak

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Adam and Trevor have to be two of the most source-accurate sculptors Ive come across. Most of Serang's sculpts have his signature styles and some characters actually fit that style very well just like Hendrix did. His recent van Gough and Beethoven are very good examples of his stylistic touches... RM too has his stylistic touches although some sculpts have less of them like The Butcher while some like Stansfield and Dexter show more of his own style...

:lecture:lecture:lecture

That being said Serang's Hendrix is probably the best all round custom i've ever seen.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

you're right...i did..but thats because he hasn't stepped out of his comfort zone...which is strictly horror...and although HE IS the master in his field...he would need to diversify some for me to include him with the other artists...cause like it or not....the other artists have a wide variety and are very progressive with the customs they decide to take on....:)...sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone to see how well you really compare to the other folk in your said field...:)....i don't have a doubt that if Beto jumped in and made a hendrix or a Blondie that he would knock it out of the park....but until he does so...he will only be considered for one type of custom...:)...i will be glad to own 2 customs from him though...:)

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

i'm also not gonna lie but a Bob Marley will prolly work for Serang's style...i really want to see how he will do the dreads....:)

Ya but I have yet to see a rainman sculpt that actually benefits from his "style" like Serangs Hendrix does from his, his Dexter and Peewee are two of his worst sculpts for that reason alone, while Doc,Bill and from what it seems so far Anton are are three of his best for not having it and in effect are more realistic sculpts.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I personally think Rainman's Ra's al Ghul has a pretty cool quality to it that a more realistic Neeson might not bring to the table. But to each his own.

and the only reason why that happened because RM had to listen to what the people wanted and since this wasn't his project entirely, he had to make some changes...for the better...:)

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Well I don't know about that. Rainman makes changes on his own projects as well based on input from collectors, so it isn't like he takes the "love it or leave it" approach every time. And there are still (IMO) some more accurate Neeson sculpts out there. But I like Rainman's the best of all I have seen. Pretty sure I liked every iteration of his Ra's (I don't recall how many changes were made).

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I want a beetlejuice! But I he won't update his second run list!

Beto's runs don't work like that. The 2nd Test list is just to give him an idea if there is enough interest to get a second run going which it looks like there is.

With Beto it's a case of you need to be online when he says its going up (Which is usually at a moments notice) and it's 1 2 3 go first paid get's them. He then refunds everyone who paid outside of his run numbers i.e. if he has 15 of them the first 15 get them everyone else gets refunded.

I was extremely lucky somebody pulled out as they needed the cash back and I happened to be online when Beto sent out some PM's to people on that second list saying there was one up for grabs. I paid there and then and luckily I was the first to get my payment through.

What imaginable comfort zone are you talking about? The guy loves horror so that's what he will make. You think its any easier to sculpt Robert Englund as Freddy than some other actor? And hes has also sculpted a human likeness Bruce Campbell/Ash which was fantastic. His new upcoming Ash looks insane as well. So what I'm saying is I will always include Beto among the greats in the same sentence. I just don't agree with why you couldn't.

Beto's Freddy Kruger pt 2 is probably one of the best achievements in 1/6 likeness. It is dead on accurate Robert Englund with makeup. Overall that figure is a marvel, after owning more Beto figures than any other artists in my collection, I can say without a doubt, he and Lu are my favorite custom artist. Beto and Lu's skills are not limited to horror. I've seen other stuff outside of that scope that will blow you mind!

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I really can't wait for Beetlejuice to arrive will be my first Beto figure

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

actually i also owned that headsculpt and it had a hint of cartoonish aspect to it when it was painted...sorry but it did...again...thats my opinion...was it better the sideshow's?..by far the best bruce campbell...all 2 sculpts out there (that i know about at least which is sideshow's and Beto's...which doesn't leave too much to argue if you ask me...)

There's more than two. I think Beto has made at least four to five.
