Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I dunno man, I see your point... but I don't neccessarily agree. Someone mike make a full figure Morpheus. The sculpt might very well be better than Sunhoc's... but Kato's outfit won't be surpassed. So even if someone has the new morpheus, the Kato version will always command interest. Same I think is likely to happen with Blondie. Unless Iminime is really upping their game tailoring wise I dont see the outfit and accessories out doing the Blondies on the market. That gives you the option to pick up the head sculpt and make an awesome custom.

Will it still be worth $2000? Probably not. But its won't be worthless either. And ultimately, the hobby should be about collecting things you would NEVER think of selling anyway right? (Although I sell stuff all the time).

I'm far from unbaised, but I see the outfit on this figure beating Rainman's. :monkey3 There are several issues with it that are easily corrected, and will be with this release.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

i'm really happy with the rm brawler butcher but would love to see him tackle a v2 dandy butcher. and i'd love to get my hands on an rm wonka dx as i think it's an amazing piece. wouldnt be averse to a guy like trevor taking on wonka but there are so many characters from movies that havent been done which i would like to see happen more than new versions of the same--if it's a totally different look of a character, like in the case of a v2 eagle eye dandy butcher, then i am more supportive--even if it's of a character i dont really care about cuz i can understand that to someone else, it's worth it. that being said, i have like 6 jokers plus a bunch of joker sculpts i dont even have on bodies right now. so i realize i'm being somewhat hypocritical. but everyone values different characters as iconic. and i get wanting the perfect version of a beloved character. but only so many customs get done a year. and of those, even fewer are really top of the line. seems somewhat a shame to have to use up so small a space with stuff that is already out there, cause as i've found, if you look hard enoough and wait, you can get the stuff you've missed. i've managed to grab nearly all my most wanted in a matter of four months, in some form or other. sometimes i cant get the full set but am more than happy with an H&C or even grabbing a sculpt and working a bash.
anyway, i'm not trying to take away from the excitement of this release. i am really looking forward to it myself and have passed on previous opportunities to grab Blondie. but when i scroll through the customs section or interest threads, i often see the same titles.
sorry for the rambling.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Time to jump in. 1st thank you Iminime for collaborating with Trev. I was a little sad to see him go earlier this year. I own some of his sculpts and I'm looking forward to picking up this project. I can only imagine how great this will come out.

I'd love to see Trev and Iminime take on "Hook" for the art of it. Movie or not there are certain characters that just stand alone. Hook would be my pic.

Ultimately, you're just asking for the same thing arent you bullet? Trev's remake of Wonka or Bill is no different then a remake of Blondie except that to you the movies those characters are from are more important. To be frank, neither wonka nor bill are very appealling to me. I'd rather see Trevor sculpt something truly iconic. Maybe the definitive TOD indy Or 1/6 E.T. and Eliiot? Hell I'd love him just to do a jesse pinkman and/or roger sterling sculpt.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I've had 3 Iminime figures in-hand so far, and based on that, the tailoring was hit-and-miss, and nothing approaching what I've seen with Rainman, which often puts the best Hot Toys quality outfit to shame. But my most recent figure was Ra's, and it was a step up from the Seven guys, so hopefully they continue in that direction. . .I am glad someone else is tackling the shoes though, if I'm to be honest. All the Iminime characters I've seen had Shaquille O'Neal size feet apparently!

and having said that. I think the Serang Hook Interest Thread needs a bump! :wink1:

I get your point, but there is seriously a lot of room for improvement in the sculpt and clothing departments when it comes to the past offerings of Blondie, imo. And he's a character that deserves to be "perfected."

I hear you, and the boots look wonderful so far. :rock

The Blondies on the market arent really anything amazing in terms of tailoring you know... and I wont even go about the sculpt. Then there is movie accuracy in terms of the accessories. The existing customs fall short for my personal taste. I have no hesitation in betting Iminime's effort should outdo the previous offerings in the tailoring department alone. The previous ones clothing have a host of inaccuracies and issues which is also one of the reasons why Blondie was chosen. quality and fittings wise Addblue would be the benchmark, and even that has its faults...

as for the worth of the Iminime figure... Im glad in a way that its an Iminime figure and not Rainman simply because
1. Many more can afford to have it. 2. Iminime's name doesnt invoke 'price skyrocketing elitism', so those interested in the secondary market wont have to pay crazy prices... Plus I I know that some of the quality thats on Iminime's figures are taken for granted simply because the price they ask for is quite cheap and it automatically makes people think its inferior.

Are you referring to outfits/tailoring axe, or something else? Because I'm not using hyperbole in my previous post. I've had a handful of both Rainman and Iminime products in hand, and the latter just can't touch the latter. It's not meant as a major criticism really, because you are paying less so you can't go into it expecting the same level of quality IMO. But Rainman really does warrant the relative price (at least for the outfit/head sets) when you see the level of craftsmanship that goes into clothing and accessories--which is absolutely the top of the line.

In terms of the head sculpt/paint department I agree with you, but based on the evidence I have seen in-hand, I think the disparity between Rainman and Iminime is pretty significant in terms of tailoring. And there's a reason Rainman is so popular and successful beyond just being a brand and name. He puts out Quality (with a capital "Q") products.

I was not referring to your post Sam, or to anyones for that matter. Im giving a general statement that most people will tend to judge quality on terms of what price they pay for which is not always accurate because technically speaking there are inflated prices on a lot of products and cheap ones too for a lot of stuff out there... that was all about it. For example the ZY Toys suit. As cheap as it is, its a solid suit. Surprising because compared to the other suits available at its price the change in quality is dramatic.

Ok....Will it be on the new truetype? This release deserves to be on those newly issued TrueTypes.

I did suggest that and Denny is looking into it. Only deal is the True Type might not be out in the market to wholesale distributors before. Because they have been announced, but not available. Only the muscle is available at Toy Hunter as far as I know in small quantity. Stock to major distributors is far off.

i hear you. and i do agree that there has been room for improvement on the blondies. look forward to seeing what comes of this project. i am pretty sure iminime will up their game again on the release. and i'll be rooting for them.

Rainman nailed the Rattlesnake!

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Thats the wrong gun for GBU... Clint used that one for some episodes of Rawhide and in Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More...

GBU has him using a Colt Navy Cartridge gun. And the sculptor has nailed it... and not surprisingly simply because he is one of the industries top weapons designer/sculptor

Hey Ant I am going to the Napoli vs Rome game Jan 6.
The Derby del Sole... always an intense game though Napoli and specially Roma are not the title contenders they used to be. Napoli though has been on a resurgence since the last couple of seasons while Roma have steadily declined since their heydays with Batistuta and Totti...

Im sure Maradona is still revered in Napoli as a God like he is in Argentina... Enjoy the game. Try to catch the Milan Derby or the Rome Derby... those are games where emotions really run high.
