Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I'd like to see Iminime take on Willy Wonka, with sculpted hair and devilish expression.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

I think the remake issue is a pitfall and standard of the hobby. You have to take teh good with the bad. My Mark I Iron Man was worth nearly $1,000 the day before the 2.0 was announced. Now? I doubt i could get $150 for it. Same for the DX Joker and Batmans. I paid $400 for the DX1 when I bought it after it sold out. i recently sold it for $135. Barely half of the cost of the Joker 2.0.

It's just how things go in the hobby. It sucks to pay $1000 for something and then a year or two later see a better version out for $300 less... but the premium you paid was for having a figure that no one else had at the time you had it. Heck I bought a WGP Penguin and I've got a Sunhoc Morpheus coming... Ive probably put $2500 into just those two figures... chances are a year from now both will have bot only been re-released by others but also improved *well maybe except for Kato's morpheus coat.

Can't argue with any of that it is the nature of the game. Just certain things that really need an upgrade don't get it such as the HT colonial Marines got them all but would love to see them redone with proper likenesses etc. Hot Toys would kill the armour now. Yet we have 150 different Jokers or Iron men to choose from lol

Well, you have to see what sells on a HOT TOYS mass produciton level. On limited 70 piece runs sometimes Iminime doesn't sell out. Look at NEO and Smith... both still available. However Iron Man and Batman sell out quick even in runs of 2,000. Don't think the colonial marines would sell very well on a mass produced level. Maybe on an Iminime level though!

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

@ Wake---i think there were some missing elements which Denny tried to get but still fell short...both were good but both lacked somethings...specially Smith...neo was better but thats after refining the figure a couple of times through the help of Marf...

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Lol or maybe even Bill ;)

:lol I would love to see a Bill, but I think Rainman's version is so good, no one would want to attempt it. Bill is Hall of Fame.

But Trev, if your reading this, let's get a Bill!

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Too many posts I want to reply to...

Clint Eastwood's MWNN/Manco/Blondie has been an undisputed icon of cinema for over 40 years, of course he is going to get love from more than a couple of artists. Yes he has been done a few times, but there has been room for drastic improvement within all of the incarnations to date. The goal of this project is to identify those areas with room for improvement, learn from the "mistakes" of past releases, and deliver something that is a marked achievement despite them.

Now I never wanted to build up hype for, or even mention the "Secret Project", Bullet's disappointment being a prime example of why. That doesn't mean however that I don't think it's deserving of some hype, especially to the many collectors out there (myself included) that did not want to pay aftermarket prices for the existing customs, and are excited to own what is sure to be a magnificent figure at a more affordable price. Sorry if that rubs some people the wrong way.

I'm super excited for this release. If your a fan of a particular character why not own each version of it. It's a great way to display it's progress.

RE the hype not at all Marf I am glad people are excited for this one its just I am not. I know you must have put a ridiculous amount of work into this project and I'm glad a character you hold close to your heart u have not only be able to realise but also play a large part in. It was others saying every other day 'just wait for the super awesome secret project its gonna blow your mind'.

Turbo I'd love to see a Trev Bill or Wonka also he's the only one who could touch Rainmans Bill or possibly surpass his Wonka.

Couldnt disagree more on the Marines Wake they'd sell at mass production runs no problem IMO. To do there Armour justice and to include items such as working shoulder lamps Hot Toys would be the only ones able to pull it off.

Ultimately, you're just asking for the same thing arent you bullet? Trev's remake of Wonka or Bill is no different then a remake of Blondie except that to you the movies those characters are from are more important. To be frank, neither wonka nor bill are very appealling to me. I'd rather see Trevor sculpt something truly iconic. Maybe the definitive TOD indy Or 1/6 E.T. and Eliiot? Hell I'd love him just to do a jesse pinkman and/or roger sterling sculpt.

Last time i checked Trev did sculpts not full figures. Always happy to see more of Trev's work.

I think he was talking of just sculpts, but he specializes in sculpting in general statues and the likes, and a 1/6 e.t would more then likely be best done as a fully sculpted statue and that would be right down Trevs street.

My comment about full figures wasnt aimed at Wakes suggestions. A Trev ET would be awesome. My comment was aimed at the suggestion my want to see a Trev Bill or Wonka goes against my reissue stance. I have no problem with anyone having a bash at sculpts the more the merrier. Individual sculpts and full figure are 2 completely different things.

Re: [iminime] / Trevor Grove - *Secret Project* The Cowboy

Ok then my vote is in to do a remake of The Dude with Trev sculpt....lol. I won't have to dish $2k for it....

I think it's natural and part of the hobby to see icons and cult characters get done numerous times. With more and more of those options being picked up by companies like Hot Toys, customs naturally tackle the stuff that has a snowball's chance in hell at being mass produced. Combine that with the minimum interest it takes to make a project worthwhile to the customizer, and you're going to see rehashes.

This is the good news for the small customizers... actually... because 80's movies as iconic as they are will not sell figures to casual 1/6 scale buyers like modern blockbusters do.

I would totally buy a 1/6 breakfast club set. But not many would

Who knows could very well happen. I'd Love to see Trev doing a Lebowski sculpt not as part of a full figure though ;).

I dunno man, I see your point... but I don't neccessarily agree. Someone mike make a full figure Morpheus. The sculpt might very well be better than Sunhoc's... but Kato's outfit won't be surpassed. So even if someone has the new morpheus, the Kato version will always command interest. Same I think is likely to happen with Blondie. Unless Iminime is really upping their game tailoring wise I dont see the outfit and accessories out doing the Blondies on the market. That gives you the option to pick up the head sculpt and make an awesome custom.

Will it still be worth $2000? Probably not. But its won't be worthless either. And ultimately, the hobby should be about collecting things you would NEVER think of selling anyway right? (Although I sell stuff all the time).

Hot Toys has changed quite a bit over the years, and their definition of "mass production" now seems to be 5,000+ (my guess would actually be more on the order of 10K+ for many releases). Aliens is one of my favorite movies all-time, and I would love to have your optimism regarding the prospects for updated figures, but I really can't see it happening given HT's current business plan--focus on Batman, Iron Man, other blockbuster comic movies, Predator, and a stray figure from some other iconic or new license here or there (i.e., Sparrow, Indy, Terminator, Avatar).

Aliens really isn't there. I can see HT doing actual aliens at some point, but mostly as a complement to folks' Predator collections. If they did the humans, chances are we would get a Hicks and maybe. . .maybe a Ripley. Those probably wouldn't sell as well as another Iron Man rehash, so the line would be dead at that point and HT would do the Mark I 5.0.
