I had to pick TDK, only because I was sooo pumped, the hype, the online clues, Ledger's performance, the midnight showing, the fans at the midnight showing, all together one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I know I should base it on just the films but it is too hard to because TDK was the first time I was so engulfed in the hype of a film release. Truly amazing. Inception was probably a superior film though :lol I loved it.

I think people are quick to say Inception is a "superior film" because TDK was "just a comic book movie." But the fact is, it's so much more than that. It's a dark crime drama with a lot to say.

Again:

TDH 93% @ RT
Inception 84% @ RT

...last time I checked.

Again, I still can't say which I personally liked better.

Whilst TDK was an amazing film I thought Inception was just incredible. How original it was , the ending , the acting , score , everything.

Bale always bugged me as batman. Not as Bruce Wayne ( in fact I thought he was the best Bruce funnily enough ) but always as batman. If I could have any batman figure it would be 89. Never got around to getting one.

Inception is this generations Blade Runner to me. Although it was completely unrelated in every way for some reason it felt to be the same type of film to me. The ending leaving questions and things like that. It's one of the few films I'll try my best to go to and see twice at the cinema.

You know what bothers me about this thread (and many others like it)? Why isn't this thread called "Inception or The Dark Knight or Memento or The Prestige, which do you prefer?"

I think Inception had the rather unfortunate burden of being Nolan's next film after The Dark Knight. Thematically and in most ways it's very dissimilar to TDK, but of course people are going to hold it up to that shining example of Nolan's pedigree.

If this movie had been released before TDK, it would've gotten the same attention as, say, The Prestige. The Prestige was an original film that had big name actors attached but didn't quite catch on with moviegoers despite its high quality. I actually still like it more than either Inception or The Dark Knight, but this thread certainly doesn't want to include it. Why? Because of the of the popularity effect that came with The Dark Knight's phenomenal success.

Inception is just like The Prestige, except it had the luxury (or misfortune) of coming after The Dark Knight. It makes me wonder if The Prestige would have gotten more attention if things were reversed and it was released now.

Inception is better because of the long lasting feeling you get after you watch the movie. Plus, it's just better made. There's a ton of weird little glitches in TDK that bug me. Like the bus hit, lack of blood at scenes, the Joker's hair.....it's still awesome, but it seems like more thought was put into Inception then TDK.

Wow i really found The Prestige a disappointment, ironically i found The Prestige of the film dull and uninspiring! Maybe i am missing something

I loved The Prestige. How Jackman went from being victim to villain.

Plus it was Batman vs Wolverine :yess:

That was kick ass. You hated Bale for the longest time....then as the movie progressed, Jackman got more twisted, and evil, Bale was revealed as a nice guy..well..one of him :lol...it was such a great change. Nolan did a great job. Helleva ending too.

I guess, since it's the same director it warrants a response.

I liked both movies alot.

I can't really see myself watching Inception in it's entirety as much as I've seen the Dark Knight from beginning to end. I think they are two different kinds of movies.

I feel like the Dark Knight is as solid as he could have made with that story, those actors, and those characters. I think the Score is also the best work zimmer and howard have done respectively.

Inception is clearly the movie that Nolan wanted to make and it shows...not that the batman movies seemed undesirable with him behind the lense; he just put more of himself in to it, I think. That being said, I think that it shows the kind of work he can put out and also get other people to work up to it. A lot of great performances. And this is zimmer in a more rock and roll, more fun musical phase.

I think this movie was more fun and freeing for the creators, and the Dark Knight was a movie that they had created to live up to expectations and hype...and I think it does, and is therefore more enjoyable to a widerange of moviegoers.

No matter how you flip the coin, you are going to get impressive larger then life work out of nolan and his cast and crew.

Inception was quite enjoyable for me, but I feel it might not be for everyone. Both movies lean towards being "heavy," with emotion and intensity. While inception is really fun in spots, it goes pretty deep into a rawness I think alot of people share.

Very good point! :hi5: :exactly:

The Prestige is a better comparison, because both it and Inception are the kind of movies that require multiple viewings to get your head around. (Same for Momento.)

Only thing is, I didn't like The Prestige very much.

Plus it was Batman vs Wolverine :yess:

:lol :yess:

The way I remember it, pretty much every character (except Micheal Caines' character) was an a-hole, driven by ego at the expense of their own well being and those around them. That's my problem with the movie - no truly likable characters. I wanted to see it again to figure out all the nuances of the plot, but couldn't bring myself to watch all those ****** bags again.

I guess that's not a great reason to criticize the quality of a movie, but that's why I personaly don't like it as much as Noland's other films. :dunno

By far TDK. But then again i am a huge Batman fan. I thought both films were great but TDK is hands down my film of choice.

Loved Insomnia. Memento is the ____.

Also, the other twin for Bale's character was extreamly likeable. He was the hero of the story.
