As great as the Dark Knight is, its just Batman Vs Joker. Its the same dynamic thats been around for what, 40 years? Granted Nolan did it better then anyone, but Inception is much more original and really makes you think. Dark Knight is more about having a fun ride.

I didn't love TDK because it was a fun ride. I loved it because of what it said about human nature. And Heath's performance of course.

This is how I feel about the two as well. TDK is a 9.5/10 for me too so that says alot. Still the only thing that should really be compared is that the same man directed both films.

Eh its about human nature yes, I get the whole making choices and people won't mass murder because a clown said so, but at the end of the day what keeps people coming back to rewatch this film is the cool Batman stunts like jumping off a building to get Lau, or him fighting the SWAT team. Of course Ledger's performace was great as well.

But I'll be watching Inception at very least a few more times just to fully understand everything going on. Let alone the incredible visuals. Sort of like THe Shining, which I'm sure many consider boring, it holds my attention because I want to solve the mystery and love the intrigue.

There are differant types of people with differant reasons for going to see a movie, and some just want to turn off there brain and watch a Superhero kick some ass.

I have an anual movie party that all my closest friends are invited to, and in 2008 we watched The Dark Knight. Here is a part of what I wrote in the invitation:

There can be no doubt that The Dark Knight was aptly named. It is indeed dark in tone. It artfully asks us to confront some uncomfortable aspects of the human experience including fear, loss, madness, and nearly impossible choices. But in the end it leaves us with both the triumph of the hero and the triumph of the human conscience along with the assurance that we all have the potential for good despite the chaos and evil around us...

That's why I love the Dark Knight. There are scads of movies available if a person just wants to "turn off there brain and watch a Superhero kick some ass," but that is decidedly not what makes me want to give TDK repeated viewings.

I plan to watch Inception again this weekend, and I will absolutely buy it on bluray. But I have no idea which of these two movies I will "prefer" when I look back on them in 5 - 10 years. Only then will I be able to form an objective opinion.

All I can say now is they are both amazing movies, that are leaders in their respective genres.

Inception is just better. It's cooler, its way more intense. The writing's better, the acting's better, the effects are better....it's so incredibly complicated that it makes sense. The film is an experience. Way more of one then TDK or Avatar ever was.

why bring avatar into this, avatar doesnt even compare. It was meant to be an entertaining film and not complex. just saying.

I think it is unfair to compare the two however i would have to say i think Inception is a more accomplished visual treat which taxes the mind in a good way

Especially the part with the whole city flipping upside down. I love avatar but that part was awesome.

I honestly cant even vote in this. To me, its apples and oranges. Nolan's non Batman films are films for film lovers who want to be challenged by narrative structure and themes. His Batman movies are a little "for the masses" but that doesnt mean they are any lesser quality than his other movies. He is just a master storyteller and thats all there is to it.

Avatar was billed as "Game changing" and to some "life changing".

This movie was more of that.

So I watched TDK again. Still good...but Inception was just so much better.

Yea becuase of the 3d and not the story. Iception was a complex story that had original things to it. Thier two different movie's.

English mother ____er! :lol

Right...but still, Inception was a game changer. It's set the bar so incredibly high for films today, it's insane. And for a summer movie, no less.

Nope. Inception is legit. Why? Because the stupid people cannot grasp it....so they can stay away in Twilight land. (you're going to take that personally...but I'll hope you dont)

No i'm not cause i dont like twilight like that. How is this movie doing in the box office ?
