You know us Indy fans only require the correct ingredients to make us enjoy an Indy movie even if those ingredients are out of order we can nudge them into place making our brains accept the final recipe.

Raiders was perfect straight from the kitchen.

TOD and TLC had the proper ingredients we just had to work hard as Chefs putting them together for an acceptable outcome.

Unfortunately KOTCS was missing critical raw ingredients that would require a reshoot to fix. How could they forget the Salt and Pepper.

Sounds like DOD is a McDonalds Happy Meal.

Yeah there was endless discussion of an Indy 4 throughout the 90s, even one involving Kevin Costner as his brother (which might have been fun.) Amblin was open to discussing it at meetings at the time.

I'd always thought Dennis Quaid would have made a better Brother for Jones. Maybe into Archeology too, but still obsessed with the 'Fortune and Glory' aspect that Indy grew out of. Also how did this movie get made without anyone thinking that Ke Huy Quan should be part of it. I mean has anyone at Lucasfilm see EEAAO. I'm still hoping this is good. Critics know a poor review will generate more clicks.

At the end of the day if I like something I like something and vice versa If I dislike something I dislike something no matter what other opinion is out there.

You can scream in my face that Fury Road is a masterpiece it isn’t for me.

You can scream in my face that Thomas Jane Punisher directors cut sucks it doesn’t for me.

This movie has been in production a good half-decade before Ke Huy Quan got "hot" again.

(Besides....I always assumed something bad happened to Short Round between Doom and Raiders. It's not like Indy ever mentioned him again in the canon material....)

I almost went with TDKR….

But as a replacement for Fury Road.

I wouldn't mind a new actor playing Indy, but it seems clear from the last two movies that there are no other good ancient artifacts or maguffins out there for him to chase, at least that are on the level of the Ark and Grail.

Plus the sense I get from the reviews is that the entire idea just feels too tired and played out by this point, and something that belonged much more to the 80s and that style of filmmaking.

I agree on the Punisher Director's cut. Makes the movie alot better. Fury road is decent but it is no Road Warrior.

Those are certainly among some of the most iconic lost artifacts but something like Excalibur or finding Atlantis could still rival them for an intriguing adventure. Combing a crystal skull and El Dorado might not have been the best idea but each would have been decent McGuffins. I feel ToD stones are actually the weakest of the series by a long margin. Even the Staff of Ra headpiece was more interesting, but there isn’t a shortage of well known and lesser known artifacts they could have had Indy go after.

Yeah there's lots of artifacts out there, and I'm sure they've all been considered at some point, but none have the same kind of religious or cultural importance behind them. And they've also already been seen in numerous other fantasy movies so it would be hard to find a new approach.

True no one had heard of the Sankara Stones before, but that movie was still coasting off the love for Raiders so it didn't much matter what he was looking for.

They are very much alike in mannerisms, voice and of course looks. Good call
