Why is everybody excited.... :huh

Stupid, stupid choice. Why no Mola Ram, or Grail Knight, or Henry, a Colonel Vogel in SS uniform or anything with visual appeal.

This was a real disappointment.

I think Sideshow, the company that did a whole line of female-heavy characters in Buffy, could at least do Marion Ravenwood.

Why don't you guys get together some capital and some investors and start your own 1:6 company and make the figures you want. Until then, buy what they offer or simply pass. They aren't going to shut down production of this figure because you guys won't stop complaining about it. Take it or leave it and move on. Some of us are actually looking forward to this.

I'd love to start a figure company. I'd hold a poll every other month and let people vote which figure they want next in a specific line for starters. That way at least the essentials get made.

And thanks for explaining that my complaing won't stop the company from making a figure they already started on. I'm actually completely retarded and never would have guessed. *cough* Gentle Giant *cough cough*

No believe it or not, my hope is that in fact someone who works for SS reads my complaints and those of others, which are by the way, not just im a crying whiney ^^^^^ posts, but for the most part offer good, well-thought reasons this is not a good idea, and take it to heart. Maybe work up the balls to show it to the guy running the show down there so he can see were not happy with the way things are going, and then jsut maybe in the future, they'll get details right like hair or shirt color. Or we can just go back to Mego being the best quality figures available, which would you prefer?

Its complaing and those people who complained who grow up to have the jobs making these figures, and they make them better because they know whats wrong with them. Thats why we now have companies like Hot Toys.

Oh, some people are looking forward to it? Well then, I guess there's no more room for discussion. Let's go ahead and lock this thread.

lol.

This choice for the next Indy is all a marketing strategy. They know people will buy this figure just like they bought Belloq. They will toss in some cool exclusive to sweeten the deal to make the figure seem worth the money. Im sure somewhere down the line they will release a Marion or Salah. They would be dumb not to. The demand is there but they want to push these weaker choices first to keep the line going. They dont want to flood us with all the main characters all at once. If they did that then they wouldnt be able to keep making money off us :D

Seems like releasing weak choices first would kill demand. "Let's release Monkey Man and Sapito before Mola Ram, Marion or Henry Snr. That will keep the line going." Thankfully it's not that bad, but you see my point.

As much as I hate this release, I think you're wrong about the rocket launcher. The one at the propstore doesn't have the sight on it, but the still from the location seems to show that it had a sight at the time. That seems to be the only difference between SSC's and the prop.

Above is the actual granade launcher from the film which was constructed by the prop dept. It's minus some parts but shows the correct scale and detail which Sideshow seems to have gotten a bit wrong...again. It leads me to ask the question, don't they study this stuff? Who is in charge of that?

Does anyone here actually know who is in charge of choosing the figures, set pieces or exclusives that come with the figures? Anyone?
I would so love to speak directly to whoever is responsible for making these decisions and see exactly what goes through their mind to make them in the first place. Like, who thought it was a brilliant idea to put the Idol environment with Belloq even though his character had nothing to do with it in the film...ever.

Overall I'm pleased with the new Indy figure from the one pic even though the launcher is a bit off. The sculpt is not bad but not as good as the first. Still, I am a bit perplexed as to why they're already doing other Indy figures already as most of you are. Maybe sales of belloq were so poor that they were scared of losing the line over a Marion figure that may or may not sell? In any case, all they have to do is put maximum effort into it which should produce a good figure which the fans will WANT to buy because it looks so good. If they keep on half-assing some things (like the exclusive Ark) then some fans who would have purchased any of the Indy line in a heartbeat, will just pass on it.

I predict your company not only fails, but loses more money than Merrill Lynch.

I Love Indiana Jones :gun, but this is an easy pass ... Since my normal SS Indy started to fall apart. The Arm gets undone when I move it.

I think I will stop buying SS Figs till SS gets that mess sorted. I don´t like the Pro body anymore. Compared to Hot Toys TT the Pro sucks so much.

I am not speaking about how stupid I think the choice is to bring us this Indy ...

In the meantime i will buy more nude TTs to upgrade all my SS figs. Sideshow should just sell the clothes and accessories without a body. Thats just my 2 cents. Over and Out :whip

Indiana Jones = a buy for me :gun

Sure there's other figures I'd prefer, but it's still a new figure in the Indiana Jones line. People are griping but yet I've seen several customs using the 1st SS Indy of the figure sideshow is now going to be releasing.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you don't like the figure don't buy it, no need to justify why you don't want it. Frankly those who may want it, don't care. :whip

Not sure what proportion of customers we forum members represent, but in the wider world, main characters are the most popular. That's why there are so many Lukes and Obi-Wans in the Star Wars line. And in the current economic climate, and with the future of the line in doubt, Indy himself is a safe bet.

I'll be getting one (or two).

Well, I like the look of it, we've all seen what a repaint can do for a sculpt, and I know many people have been after this fig for a while...

And I'd totally go for a LC German Indy...

I agree with Irish on this.

SW has real strong legs. It can afford the Lorne's, the Faramir's, and the variants without getting in the way of potential future (and more critical) characters.

Indy can't support that kind of character choice. I hope I am wrong though. I really want a robed Belloq and a good Marian.

Can you imagine the heat they'd get for releasing another Belloq? Even one that actually makes sense with the accessories they're selling?

So I'll ask again. If some feel they're not getting any better why do you keep buying. I say put your money where your mouth is and stop. My bet is those that say things aren't getting better can't.

I've stopped buying. At under $60.00 bucks, there's less room for complaints. At $90.00 it's painting a bullseye on the figure...

I passed on Indy and only picked up some loose items to update my custom Indy. Cancelled Belloq and the idol pedestal. Not worth it, even though I REALLY wanted the pedestal. Depending on how Toht comes out, he may get the ax as well, even though I REALLY want the ark. Not even going to bring up the Star Wars line...

On the other hand, I will be getting the Hot Toys Vito, Terminators, John Connor, Predator, Dutch...

I think I've put my money where my mouth is since the get-go.

I always laugh whenever this lame strawman defense pops up, from time to time. Ironically, you and the other 4 guys actually excited about this figure just aren't enough to justify the choice of character being done.
I'm not in the toy figure manufacturing business. I'm in the toy figure purchasing side. By letting Sideshow (and other manufacturers) know what we want (Marian and Sallah, for example) and would like improved, we're providing positive feedback that hopefully will be taken under consideration. To post in a dedicated figure thread on a dedicated collectibles forum that we should "like it or leave it" is ridiculous.

I've never understood that supposed marketing strategy: "Let's push the WEAKER choices on these idiots in order to keep the line going." The days of "completists" are long gone. People are becoming even more "picky" with their purchases. I predict that if we don't start seeing more of what the paying customers want, this line (and several others) will end up going down.

How many of you out there hope they make an Indiana Jones disguised as a German Last Crusade version????????

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl Now THAT was funny!

Someone may have already said so, but I didn't think the first Indy looked like Indy until I saw the customisations thread. So maybe this one is a good likeness, but might need a little work to show it.
