Someone may have already said so, but I didn't think the first Indy looked like Indy until I saw the customisations thread. So maybe this one is a good likeness, but might need a little work to show it.

No your totally wrong, it's a great likeness without a repaint.
It just that the artists are so amazing at Sideshow Freaks that the repaints make the Indy figure look even better than the premium format.

I've stopped buying. At under $60.00 bucks, there's less room for complaints. At $90.00 it's painting a bullseye on the figure...

I passed on Indy and only picked up some loose items to update my custom Indy. Cancelled Belloq and the idol pedestal. Not worth it, even though I REALLY wanted the pedestal. Depending on how Toht comes out, he may get the ax as well, even though I REALLY want the ark. Not even going to bring up the Star Wars line...

On the other hand, I will be getting the Hot Toys Vito, Terminators, John Connor, Predator, Dutch...

I think I've put my money where my mouth is since the get-go.

Good for you then.

As one of the "4 " that like this figure I'm excited by it as I really like Indiana Jones. There are several outfits he wears over the course of the 4 films I'd like to see made. This is one. I don't think it was a bad choice to make.

Ironically, you and the other 4 guys actually excited about this figure just aren't enough to justify the choice of character being done.

I think I'll go with Sideshow's market research on this one, rather than a few rantings on a messageboard. As I said above, in an Indiana Jones line, Indy variants are always a safe bet.

To move this thread into a different direction: do you guys think the hat will be removable and if yes, do you think he'll have a second, cloth hat like the imperials in SW 1/6?

True that. Plus, if they make two other characters between Indy's (Belloq and Toht) we may see Marion and Sallah (or whoever) before the Map Room Indy or any other variant.

It's interesting that they're favoring Raiders. It's my favorite of the four (and the only version of Indy that I collect) but I wonder how far they'll go before delving into the other films?

I'd say Marion,Sallah and map room Indy and they can move to ToD.

Also, will they bother doing Indy from Last Crusade or even KOTCS, given that the costumes are so similar?

In a perfect world they would :) No telling though... I am still hopeful that we could possibly see more Indy variants over time.. ( Map Room Indy and TOD tux Indy would be great !) we'll see....

Indy's traveling/bureaucratic fools suit not to mention his scottish lord disguise.

I would buy the travel suit, the Blue double breasted one w/ red tie and Grey hat that he wears on the plane in Raiders. I'ts differant and not something I can easily make.

They really ought to make a Pat Roach figure. He was the boxer who played the German Mechanic from the Flying Wing fight and the Thuggee Chief from the Rock Crusher fight.

Yep, that would be cool. They'd need to bulk up the prometheus body for that though.

Pat Roach was actually in LC as well... as Col Vogel is running up to the Zeppelin prior to take off, Roach s the burly guy running with him...

not sure why they didn't have him and Indy Duke it out once again .. would have made a cool Zeppelin fight scene..

Well there is the deleted scene or w/e you know what I'm talking about? I can't remeber if he fights or what but there is a funny bit with a 2nd plane that trys to go after Indy and Henry.

I didn't say any of them would be nor do I think this is. I said there are several I'd like to see this was one of them.

I'm asking is this the absolute bottom of the barrel of possible Indy variants or do you think there is another that is less desirable or less popular?

The costume of KotCS Indy might be similar but he would require a completely new head sculpt of old Harrison Ford, whereas TLC and ToD could get away with reusing adventure Indy hs (not saying that they should). From all the possible variants I think I would be most interested in this one even though I didn't like the movie. They don't need to bother with the jacket, I would display him without it anyway, like in the opening warehouse scene.
I also think it would be cool to have different sculptors doing each variant instead of having Trevor Grove sculpt all of them.
