The problem with doing "filler" figures like this to pad out a line is that the 1/6 market doesn't work that way anymore. Outside of Star Wars, lines don't run for years at a time anymore. With higher prices and more variety, people want the most popular characters and then they move on to the next big thing. After Buffy, Angel, LOTR and several other lines that SSC tried unsuccessfully to string along for years at a stretch, you'd think they would've learned this lesson by now.

If you make all your tops right off the bat where does that leave you in the long run. It leaves you with making characters not as popular by the masses for the rest of the line. That does not lead to long term success of lines nor of the company.

Yeah, making your customers happy by producing the products that are most popular is a terrible way to run a business. :lol

What's popular sells better. I don't see how making what is most popular causes your company to lose money and not last very long. Lackluster sales do not lead to long term success as the LotR line and others show. Make the big names first, if they sell well, then secondary characters if you can. When the sales slow, whether that is while you are making 1st tier characters or 2nd tier, then you move on to another property that is more popular. At least you have main characters in collections.

There's nothing wrong with having Faramir in our collections. His importance to the story makes having him worth having in his collection. So I think just saying they should never have made Faramir is stupid and shows a lack of fandom to LOTR.

sheesh. I'm not attacking Faramir as a crappy character, just that they should've made someone more popular instead. He's B list at best. Save the Faramirs for later, if there even is a later. There are no guarantees that there will be.

And Faramir was 4th.

Hot Toys sticks to variants of popular characters that sell. Instead of getting characters like Barbossa or Jim Gordon they give us Cannibal Jack and Cop Joker.

SS aint Hot Toys. People know to expect quality with one, with the other its hit or miss.

And lets face it the Joker is hotter then God at the moment, and Indy, well his movie tanked and people hated it.

The differance here is, go try to find Joker V.1.

The Bank Robber second Sculpt goes for $90 on ebay.

Meanwhile as I pointed out, SS has failed to sell Indy in his most Iconic outfit. So a variant is sure not to sell.

Now lets pretend we run SS. You have 3 of 4 figures still in stock not selling. Sooner or later its cheaper to end the line.

You act as if were just crazy for being worried, this company just ^^^^ canned another popular 1/6 line. Plus I watched it happen to 3 compaines with the same license not even 6 months ago. It happened with Hasbro, it happened with Noble, it happened with Gentle Giant, and it's going to happen here if they don't produce more interesting choices.

Club Obi wan Indy is easy really? No. Not at all.

You need a Legacy Connery James Bond which goes for anywhere from $120-$200 if you can find one on ebay. Then you still need a black vest, and the Nur Hacci goes for around $20 again IF one is on ebay.

On the other hand I can bash the entire German Soldier version for $17 shipped from any one of 3 etailers, thanks to Dragon, BBI, 21st Century Toys, and DID who produce WWII German figures.

You act like the world has ended. It hasn't. The line hasn't ended yet. I don't understand all of the hostility because of 1 figure. Who says they are making this line just for YOU? Seems to me Sideshow is having some fun with this line because they can afford to since most of their revenue is generated from Star Wars. I wouldn't be surprised if they are contractual bound to LFL to produce X number of characters and I'm sure LFL has some say over what characters get made.

Hot Toys is just like their name says "Hot Toys." They are a trend company. They get in on the hype and then they are out. Sideshow has never really produced 1:6 lines that are big other than Star Wars. I give G.I. Joe 10 figures at the most before the hype fizzles out.

Bank Robber Joker is superior to v1 but it sold out because it was the first and most iconic version. Variants always linger. I'm sure Sideshow is well aware of that fact and will set the edition size accordingly. They aren't as stupid as you try to make them out to be.

I don't and never said that. However, you don't shoot your wad all at the start either.

Actually..
when it comes down to it..
i'd rather billy-bob manhandled me and shot his wad. Premature? Sure. But i could have got the money shot. Instead, It was more like Billy-Bob just plain raped me for hours until i was bleeding to death and then went limp and beat me in the face over the humiliation.

which is what the LOTR's line was, to me.

I hope this visual has been better for all of you! Excuse me while i grab the bars, and sideshow drops their pants.

I need a shower after reading that.
(I just wont drop the soap any where near Husker)

I'm certainly disappointed and upset about Sideshow leaving the LotR Fellowship incomplete yet again, but rape and beatings? A tad overboard, mate. People may not take your points too seriously if you resort to such hyperbole. Though I guess Josh did start with the creepy wad shooting talk. Surely there are more mature and classier ways to make a point.

Anyway, German Indy is what it is. It'll be interesting to see the ed size and how well/poorly it sells. Hopefully the next Indy fig, if there is one, will be more exciting.

Club Obi-Wan Indy is another easy custom bash. There's a few that have been posted here already. And if you really need to have the urn of Nurhachi you can pick up a loose Medicom one on ebay like I did for $6. The Peacock's Eye crystal can be found at just about any hobby and craft store. Let's face it, it's just Indy in another outfit.

Perhaps SS SHOULD release clothing sets for a pre-existing doll kind of like some other 12" guy...

Actually, for just this once, I'll agree with you. Additionally, it'd help sell out the remaining Indy's rotting on their website. But I wouldn't go overboard on the outfits. Then, perhaps, they would consider a nude non-hatted indy on the pro ala Barbie?

HotToys....HotToys...HotToys... HotToys is an ADD company. Rarely, and I believe I can count on one hand, the times they delved any deeper into a license than the few main characters. That said, again, they really don't produce near the amount of lines Sideshow does so why even bring them up? If they had the Indy license, likely they would've utilized Medicom's formula and we'd be suffering Mutt and KOTCS Indy.

Yes, I believe I JUST stated that on the previous page...

You act as though your in the majority of people on this one, to me it seems far more people are disspointed. So no its not a line "just for me." But I would still like to buy some of them providing the figures aren't the same thing over and over again.

I'm not acting like its the end of the world, I'd be naked and drunk. I'm acting like its the end of the line because it probably is. Again I'm going based on whats happened to this license with other companies and what happened when SS mishandled other 1/6 lines by not putting out the right characters and killed the line.

That upsets me as an Indy fan, or am I not allowed to question anything they do or give us?

I'm willing to put money on it, shall we say a friendly $25 bet if your so sure? I'd love to be wrong and pay you after the latest Mola Ram or Marion announcement but I don't see it happening after this.

I'm waiting for the day they say the lines on hold due to the lack of our consumer interest and try to blame it on us like Hasbro did, and like SS did with LOTR.

No, They don't have to make any specific figures or certain amounts of Indy. They simply have to show w.e figure they do to LFL and get approval that it looks like it supposed to.

This is what it is, the easy way out. As you pointed out, SW is there Cash Cow, and this line is being neglected.

Mola Ram would have required alot of R&D, multilayered robes, removable headress, more then one simple acessory.

Oh and Edition Size will help but just yesterday your arguing edition size doesn't matter. Its getting desperate.

How do you know this figure isn't just a filler like Ep II Obi-Wan or Praji while they develop a more complicated figure like Mola Ram? Something tells me we'll be getting some Kali Ma. I'll take that bet.

I'm sorry. I was just making a joke! No offense intended to anyone! And yeah, i was simply playing off of what Josh said..

I am sooo.. not classy. But i'll try my best to be better, i promise! :)

I really hope thats the case, You'll get Mola Ram for a cool $25 less and I'll be a very happy man.

But again, even then it may depend on this figure's sales, and it isn't the same as the Star Wars fanbase, and 3 Indy lines died this year, one because they tryed to give us filler figures instead of the ones we wanted, which makes me nervous.

I don't know why this argument is still going strong...but I'll bite one more time.
What three lines just "died"? I know Hasbro is no longer producing, but what are the others? And what line provided "fillers"? Did they call them that?

I dont believe that Sideshow is done with Indy after this figure. To much money to be made. The people that make up this forum arnt the only ones buying this figure. I would def like to see other shots of it however.

Won't some people buy this figure just because he's wearing a Nazi outfit? If so, then maybe it will do good enough business for this not to be the last figure.

I'd feel more confident if any of the 3 SS figures had actually sold out. They're all still in stock.
