I wonder WHY Sideshow did this? Seriously, why?

As has been said, the 1st Indy came with a ton for $90.

Toht regular was $90 but has a complicated outfit and extra HEAD!

And Belloq regular -- the closest to this offering -- was offered at $70.

So why $90 for this very simple "bash" Indy with a plastic bazooka?

Seriously, the only rational conclusion I can think of is that they want the line to die. Now they can probably go to Lucasfilm and say, "See... even the limited edition direct-market INDY figures won't sell!" and get a monkey off their back. Clearly, they'd rather churn out basic SW figures that will pretty much sell no matter what.

That is total speculation on my part, of course. But you have to admit it makes a ton more sense than anyone there actually thinking this figure... at this price... was at all a good idea.

If anything, this should have been the SDCC Exclusive at $15-$20 less.

Horrible.

If you ask me, we now have more than enough evidence to presume that their hearts really weren't completely into the INDY license in the first place.

I agree 100%...I don't get the price with this one...it's a basic, no frills offering here...unless the edition size is going to be really low but still...$70 seems more like it....

As a $70 Con Exclusive, this makes perfect sense.

As a $90 "Standard" Figure? Go pound sand.

That, or they think the only figure worth bilking is INDY himself.

Either way, it's a great disappointment that the line is going out this way. I can't imagine after this release, and lack of sales, that they'll want to continue with it.

So no Marion....

No Mola Ram...

No nothing.

Let the bashes begin.

I don't expect any more announcements. Maybe, maybe something at SDCC, something left over in the pipeline... but I really doubt it.

They already said they have SEVERAL more figures and PF's in the works. My guess is that they are contractually committed to produce X number of figures per their licensing agreement with LFL.

Huh.....still trying to figure out what makes this the price it is....huh.....

I guess one mystery will always remain about this license...how could every major company blow this one so bad? First Hasbro (by treating it like SW..which as a toy line it would never be), then Gentle Giant (it was heartbreaking seeing Indiana Jones turned into Hummel figures...soft, featureless sculpts with gooey paint jobs) and now Sideshow (by having the big announcement, than a long wait til the first (really great) figure arrives and having only three other figures offered since they've had the line),,,what is it? An "approval process" thing? A development thing? Don't know, but the interest in anything Indy has waned in the marketplace and it looks like this could be it...we'll see how the response is to this offering...

Of course, I'm wanting to be proven wrong by the next figure announcement...

Wow. I decided that Indy wasn't going to be a line I collected but it was fun seeing you guys get so excited over things like Toht and the Ark and the possibility of Mola Ram, Henry Sr., etc. I feel bad for you guys. Hopefully this is just a minor "WTH" and the line starts kicking butt again.

For all we know Mola Ram and a bunch of TOD figures will all hit SDCC at once and some momentum will return. Things could change. It aint' LOTR just yet....

Thank God I got Sovereign Studios Mola Ram on the way. :joy

I'm sure they do. And I'm sure we'll get another PF. But I think they're done with 1/6th...even though they do have some others "in the works". Again, this is just my opinion and I'd be happy to be wrong.

On the flip side, if this isn't the end...

Perhaps this is one of those figures that they couldn't start the line with and they can't end the line with so maybe we've just hit that middle ground where SS had to unload it at some point. Of course that doesn't explain the price.

This is.. beyond sad.

Everyone told me "no, they won't charge 90 dollars for a bare bones figure"..
yeah.. right.

what a joke.

SSC should be ashamed of themselves. Here in this time where enterbay, and hot toys are putting out such great quality figures, for just a fraction more..
do they really think i'm gonna pay 90 for a hunk of crap?!

I know my standards are low for the sideshow star wars line.. but really.. come on! They are just taking steps backwards now..
first indy is STILL available, with ALL those neat add ons for that price.
why the hell would you buy a bare bones bazooka figure?!
WHAT A JOKE!

*throws tomatoes at them* BOOO!

I just don't see what about this is worth $90 considering he's basically the same headsculpt, pro and hands, while Lando's only $80, is a completely original figure and comes with a lot more stuff! :huh

The Indiana Jones in German Disguise 12 inch Figure features:

* 12-inch Prometheus male body with 30+ points of articulation
* Authentic likeness of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones
* Shirt
* Pants
* Boots
* Cap
* Detailed belt with Y-strap harness
* KAR 98 pouches
* RPG
* Two sets of interchangeable hands
* Display base with Indiana Jones logo

Best thing is, when all the collectors go away, disappointed by this release and hence boycotting the purchase of it (which is $104 U.S. by checkout), they'll wait and wait and wait, with no mention of another figure, and then come Spooktacular, during chat, we'll be told the line is "on hold" as a result of collector interest in the Indy 1:6 line just not being there. :banghead :banghead :banghead

BTW Jedibear, told ya so! :moon :lol

This is just stupid. I really want someone from SS to come here and explain themselves to us. This just feels like a kick in the pants to those of us who looked forward to this line. And make no mistake, they probably want the 1/6 line to end. That's the only reason I can see charging $90 for this bare bones release. It won't sell then we'll get the "on hold/lack of interest" line they so famously use. SS need to wake up and realize they are not HT. They don't have the quality to back up the price. I like my SS stuff, but they are worth at most $70.
