I'd say LFL's probably a big factor in where this line goes. The Star Wars line had the benefit of, what appeared, to be a big launching point for Sideshow, compared to the years before, it seems like around the time the Star Wars 1/6 license started off, things really boomed for them, so getting it off the ground against the LFL big wigs was doable.

Now you've got Indy, with Star Wars product and Indy product going out for approval. It's got to slow things down considerably to go through that.

Not that GI Joe doesn't, but being that the designs are basically SSC concepts based on sources, the approval's more ok your design isn't unfaithful to the character or whatever, rather than getting specific details correctly matched to a source like Indy and Star Wars.

Couple that with the other companie's who've jaded Indy collector's and you've got a mix that makes getting an Indy line really going an uphill battle.

I'm not sure the line's dying, but surely it's a fight to get it up to a Star Wars line pace.

Alright.. i know we can't REALLY know what the future holds just yet..

but we have a pretty good idea.

What i DON'T get.. is how some people.. *cough* come on here and basically tell all of us we are crazy. that the figure isn't crap. and that 100+ for it isn't INSANE.

because i'm sorry. That isn't up for debate.

If the line is over or not? Sure. Debate that.

But this figure was a mistake. A joke, and a ripoff to put it LIGHTLY.

And as time goes by, i'm getting pretty fed up with this crap.

I guess I should be thankful though. At least my wallet wont be screaming at me.
You know.. a year from now, when this turd gets into the few hands that paid for it. :/

Didn't we all say that about LOTR? :)

We went months between the hobbits and GTG and then month, month, months after GTG before it was known. If we get to SDCC with no new figure and especially past that. Then yeah I'll agree.

I do think that there's another PF coming. But this figure might just kill the 1/6th Indy line. None of these have sold well, and this is expected to be the worst yet. SS can't justify staying onboard with sales like this. So, granted, there may be other figures in development... I can't see them spending the cash to make 3,000 of yet another figure for a lackluster line.

I'd just about be willing to bet the house this isn't the end. I love how though every line is considered lack luster if it doesn't sell like SW. Maybe if everyone including companies quit worrying about using SW as a threshold things would flow better.

Would a figure at SDCC surprise me? Yes and no. If there's any chance of one more figure -- and that's one more -- it's at SDCC. But I'm kind of feeling that SS will expend its energies elsewhere than toss another Indy figure into the fire here.

Again, I hope I'm wrong.

Again, I would just about bet the house we'll see one and that you will be wrong.

I think that first part is up for debate as well.

I'll be happy to have mine. I collect to enjoy collecting. Something I think many of you have forgotten. Far too many here get riled up at some of the most senseless things. Calling stuff turds and other things I've seen in this thread. I mean for god sakes this is a hobby. If you feel the need to get this riled up then you may need to take up knitting.

OMG, I've been multi-quoted! :) I never have been before, this is a treat.

I do hope I'm wrong and just overeacting. I said that before in other line's final demise though.

And I don't mean to use SW as a model for this line. Never said that. "Lack luster" meaning little interest. Figures still available. Like Bond or LOTR or X-Files or so many other lines. Most lines really. SW is unique of course. But if stock piles up, then no line is safe.

If you pay over a hundred for that, and you are happy, i'll be happy for you.

But it doesn't change the fact that you overpaid for something of poor quality.

If someone is happy with this figure, good for them. But that just doesn't make it a good figure! There is a point where opinions and facts just don't add up, and there is nothing i have seen that makes this figure worth the money they are charging.

I LOVE collecting. But i know when i'm getting screwed over. And when other companies pour amazing quality into sculpts and extras, and charge a fraction more than this.. it is pretty apparent that as a collector, sideshow is not treating me with respect.

I'm not riled up. Just because i may throw in one or two CAPITALIZED words.. because really, i'm too lazy to italicize.. lol.. doesn't mean i'm screaming in my chair at the monitor! But it gets annoying to see some of the stuff people use as defense for sideshow nowadays. I love them, but they are being a bit abusive lately. I feel like Rihanna! (too soon? :p)

I'm sorry i call this a turd, but that is what i think of it. It is lazy, and rehashed, and bare bones for what they are charging.

Its just the way I break posts down to make my thoughts more clear. Its not any big deal. Well, not from my pov. :lol

If we go months without another figure then I'll agree but until then I think people need to take a deep breath.

I didn't say you did specifically but I think many of "you" do.

This would have been a better choice for a SDCC exclusive.

What would've been interesting to see would have been Sallah in suit and fez announced instead of German Indy and then, add robes and turbans + a staff of Ra, and have Map Room Indy and Sallah as SDCC exclusives.

Should just buy a Dragon German Soldier and put Indy's extra head on it. Bamn a better figure for prolly $50 less.

Why is it that you seem to have more marketing brains than anyone running the indy line? :)

I think that would have been great!:whip

I didn't but even if I hadn't used any points I'd still be happy with it. So thanks. :)

I think overpaying is in the eye of the beholder really. As far as the quality I don't agree at all. It looks great in both the regular and HR pics. So I think the quality is really a matter of opinion

Well, the same can be said that just because some of you aren't doesn't make it a bad figure either!! (I can put exclamation points in too. :)) I haven't seen anything that changes that I think the figure is cool enough to not warranting me buying it.

I LOVE collecting. But i know when i'm getting screwed over. And when other companies pour amazing quality into sculpts and extras, and charge a fraction more than this.. it is pretty apparent that as a collector, sideshow is not treating me with respect.

I think we're all pretty aware of when we are getting the shaft. I don't think SS is or has been doing that to us. I have had more issues with how I like my non SS figures.

I'm not riled up. Just because i may throw in one or two CAPITALIZED words.. because really, i'm too lazy to italicize.. lol.. doesn't mean i'm screaming in my chair at the monitor! I'm not saying you're getting pissed at your monitor but I think yours (even this quoted part) and others show you guys get way too wrapped up. I mean SS is being abusive? I mean really? I'm sorry but thats just absurd at best.

I'm sorry i call this a turd, but that is what i think of it. It is lazy, and rehashed, and bare bones for what they are charging.

No need to apologize. I think calling it a turd is a bit much but it is what it is. No matter when they would have done this, Map Room, or any of the other non regular Indy gear figures folks would be saying the same.

this is bittersweet man. i love the fact were getting more indy. but im not digging the execution. hes not a bad figure. but not great. in a world of collecting where 1/6 is at all new heights. they really need to go all out. i see more work and effort in the gi joe line. same company, so we should see the same equal effort.

I agree with folks this figure should be starting at around $70 (Belloq's price??). Thats my main issue really. If they want to charge this price it should have come with a few other items.

I buy what I like for however long things last. I don't worry about it but I guess that goes for being in this game long enough.

I don't know why this really struck me funny....it feels almost like a quote about war. :lol

For me I've gotten really into a line Highlander, LOTR, Pirates of the Carribbean with companies putting the breaks on them before what I consider essentials were done.

For me Belloq and Toht are only useful as parts of complete lines even if its just ROTLA. Without Marion and Sallah at minimum that line will never be complete. Is the line over? We don't know but LOTR was practically given a death sentence. James Bond ended without as much as a swan song. History has shown that a "line on hold" either means death to the line or eventual property to Hot Toys (POTA).

I don't want to start a line to be disappointed to have half a set up. With GI Joe for example if they produce Duke, Scarlett, Destro and Baroness I would never need any others but of what has been offered Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes and CC with his troops to flank (like Vader and the Stormies) still gives the feel of a line that doesn't have any holes.

Couple that with the other companie's who've jaded Indy collector's and you've got a mix that makes getting an Indy line really going an uphill battle. I'm not sure the line's dying, but surely it's a fight to get it up to a Star Wars line pace.

For this is what makes it unique. We've seen a couple of other licensees bail on Indy when with figure prototypes shown. SSC hasn't really shown me anything different by offering a figure variant that feels like a Con Exclusive as a standard release for the price of a standard figure with more accessories....It isn't so much chicken little as street prophet predicting the End is Near.

We went months between the hobbits and GTG and then month, month, months after GTG before it was known. If we get to SDCC with no new figure and especially past that. Then yeah I'll agree.

True but I think the difference is that with LOTR you'd have expected all four hobbits quick, The Ringwraths wouldn't have been as complex (or at least don't feel as complex) and could have been done. With LOTR you've got figures that could have been done that weren't when a lot of R&D wasn't needed and the line dropped. With Indy there are still standard characters that could go on the Pro or Buck that need some R&D and we got a character variant? If they make the German for him to fight then I'll admit this is a good release but until then it just feels like the beginning of the end....like the Bond Legacy line....

I agree with folks this figure should be starting at around $70 (Belloq's price??). Thats my main issue really. If they want to charge this price it should have come with a few other items.

I agree and that is what has me worried, that the rest of the figures aren't moving as enough pace to not charge higher for future figures to recoup costs which makes me think that we have either to hit really A tier character that will sell well or we are nearing the end and they are trying break even before heading out the door.

Although I have a feeling it'll be an LOTR thing where the 1/6 line stops but we'll still get PFs.

I could have seen this at 70, and it wouldn't have been as big a deal to me. Just a poor choice, in my opinion. But even at 70, it needs more.

By the way, the abuse thing.. it was a joke! My sarcasm doesn't work as well online at times! :)

What? Whatever

If you want to consider yourself that. Fine by me. I could care less.

I was joking Josh. You know that. You said "you" -- I know what you meant -- but the quotes struck me funny, like an 'us vs. them' thing.

I certainly don't want to ever be a 'them', no matter what side I take. :D
