For comparison, here's a recent WWII military figure from DiD, Red Army Rurik, who lists for $77.99 (and I believe hit the market about six months ago). Two headsculpts and more equipment....

It's a slightly apples-to-oranges comparison (it's not licensed, but DiD's tailoring tends to kick the crap out of Sideshow's), but it's about the closest we have.

I'm just wondering if the seemingly outlandish price on this figure is part of some wider inflationary trend amongst plastic collectibles.

(This is not, btw, trying to excuse the perceived poor price-to-value of this figure, which I agree with, just trying to make sense of why this has happened.)

Based on this pic posted earlier, doesn't it appear that the proportions of Sideshow's RPG need revision?

You don't even need to compare it to a DiD or non licensed item.

REGULAR INDY was the SAME PRICE, so is TOHT! Both of those come with WAY more accessories, WAY more detailed clothing etc.

That's the question, isn't it? Why the apparent sudden price increase, and is it a trend due to rapidly rising production costs, or what?

There've been a number of (in my opinion) WTF-level price jumps in toys and collectibles in the last quarter or so.

The price increase is a trend that has been going on a lot longer than just a quarter or two.

This is true. While the 3 3/4" Joes and Star Wars have remained about $6 and DC's Infinite Heroes line priced the same, Hasbro's Marvel line is $8-$9 a figure now and I've seen them as high as $12.99. :horror

Every line needs their "Yavin Luke"... :D

Or Pamela Voorhees...

Or Willow...

Welcome German Indy. Takes some heat off Belloq.

Yavin Luke really isn't bad. He does need some work with the paint, Pam/Willow are pretty awful figures. This Indy however is way above any of these figures.

Well, if this is an indicator that all other upcoming SSC figures are going receive another $10-$20 price hike, I'm out...seriously. I'll wait for my Vader, cancel everything else on preorder and use my reward points for something in stock and say goodbye to buying 12" figures from SSC. Just not enough bang for the buck in $90 BAREBONES SSC figures to justify it. Can't imagine what better figures will cost.

I noticed it. Normally its not the biggest deal breaker, but considering its the ONLY accessory he comes with.......
