I realized a long time ago that no company makes a complete line of anything. With the exception of SW, no company wants to put any long-term investments into any one license, because over time, for whatever reason, interest wanes. Collectors and companies move on to the next greatest and newest thing. We are all about "in the moment."

Sideshow bit off more than they can chew with their announcement of producing figures to cover all four films. We probably won't even see all films represented let alone get a collection of all the necessary characters that folks deem important for a complete collection. It isn't right, but it is what it is. So just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Also, Sideshow is apparently operating under the delusion that their customer base is somehow sheltered from the current economic situation. Who the hell can justify a figure like this at $90 right now? :huh

It's not about whether you can afford it or not... it's about the value. This thing is overpriced to the point of insult... especially at a time when there are some people struggling to put gas in their car in order to get to work.

And if the decision was made because this crazy price (instead of, say, $70) is what would make the item profitable then the solution was simpler: just don't make it. People don't want this damn figure, much less for $100 after shipping.

This is baffling.

Can't say I was too excited about this one to begin with, but definite pass due mostly to the price.

How is this the same price as the first ROTLA Indy???? We got two HS and a ton of accessories for the same price as this? Nuts!

He's definitely a $70 figure at best. I keep going back to look at him to see if I like him more but I really don't.

I think the outfit looks a little better with a full view of it but the more I look at the sculpt the goofyer his expression looks. It totally doesn't fit that scene or most of the scenes that he was in disguise. He needs a much sterner look.

The paint just keeps throwing it off, looks nothing like Ford in that scene. The RPG looks CHEAP.

If you're buying these figures though you can probably afford to put gas in your car. If you're buying these and struggling might want to put your crap in better order.

You missed the whole point of Irish's post. Nothing about affording, but the VALUE, if the figure is worth it. And this figure isn't worth 90 dollars.

No, I got the point of the post thanks. I get that he/others think the value isn't justified in this economic climate. Then he gave examples of which I'm saying that if those are issues for people they're probably not buying already or shouldn't be.

Carl- As far as people not wanting this damn figure I did and know others did as well. As a matter of fact people wanted it enough to go making their own so folks must want it.

I'm finding that the value of most collectibles these days doesn't justify their price. Quality is not keeping pace with the increased prices. Either that, or I'm just getting pickier about what I want to spend my money on.

Plus, look at all the people who are hunting down the Hasbro one and are prepared to pay around the same price.

I ordered him. I can't argue that $90 is a bit much for what we're getting, but it's a version of Indy I wanted, and I think he looks good.

One strange thing I noticed is that this is slated for a 4th quarter release, which means there is no Indy figure for the 3rd quarter.

I love Sideshow. I love Indiana Jones. In the past, I've mentioned I'd buy anything they made pertaining to Raiders. Not this time around. This figure is cool but ultimately way overpriced for what it is. I wish SS would have lowered the price to ease the financial burdens a lot of us are suffering. The lack of accessories, and simplicity of the figure doesn't warrant a $90 price tag. Listing the belt cartridges as accessories is silly. I don't remember them listing all the pouches on Luke's belt to add perceived value to the figure. The lack of accessories, and no exclusive will make this gift card and contest fodder later. I will pick this one up down the road.

The drastic increase in Sideshow's "basic" figure price from around $40-45 a few years ago to $80 today is pretty insane. Inflation and the cost of plastic/materials can't account for it, so it seems to be a simple demand issue. As long as we keep demonstrating a willingness to shell out $90-150, they are gonna keep raising prices. Can't fault them for being a business and trying to make money, but I also can't help but question the wisdom of releasing something like this Indy without dropping the price $20-30, at least.

I'm guessing that once released, he'll pop up on the "giftcard" list pretty fast, and maybe they will be able to get rid of him that way.
