I wonder if anyone would be complaining about the price if the hatless head that came with the first Indy came with German Indy instead at the same cost they are now.

Basically:

Adventuring Indy (same accessories minus the second head): $89.99

German Indy (including second head): $89.99

If you're okay with the above pricing and already own Adventuring Indy then just get German Indy and let it all come out in the wash.

I see what you're saying and yes, I agree that if they'd done it that way, there's probably be less griping. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and the bar has already been set. They tacked on a low ES to justify the price of this bare bones offering, when the original version is still available with all the accessories. It's like trying to justify a fixed game. Taking a look at Belloq, he's not much different, a figure who comes with an MP40, extra set of Pro hands, a liquor bottle and a fedora, but he's $80.

Given that he's Wait Listed (I won't say sold out because we all know he'll pop back up on 2nd Chance when he's released), I wonder how many of the orders placed were genuine interest orders vs. worry orders that with the lower ES, if this figure doesn't sell out, Sideshow will deem the 1:6 Indy line unsellable.

We did not know for sure the figure would be a ES so low at the time of ordering... though I saw it as likely due to the price and attitude of us at the time.

I think there are people who have jumped on the waitlist now seeing that the es is small because they like that.

IMO, by buying this, were justifying them charging this price and continuing to do less work and include one or no accessories, or them raising the price to justify the inclusion of more, or in other words what we were already getting before.

I'm buying it cause I want this figure. What that justifies to them is what it is. I think Indy is about $15 too high with what he comes with. He really needed to come with both versions of that sculpt I think to balance things out.

A second head sculpt without hat would have gone a long way, especially if it sported a paint job similar to the custom one recently posted.

I've posted a comment on the production blog page-- If every Freak that wants this representation of Indy BUT screen accurate posted as well (in a civilized and mature fashion) maybe we'll get a response or wonderfully a change.

Please post Freaks.

Has everyone here posted comments about the hatless sculpt, etc? Who knows, even if it doesn't help this figure, it will let Sideshow know how disappointed we are and maybe help with the next offering.

'cause that worked with the LOTR line. :lol Though someone should post it in the Reviews portion of the figure, "Indy's great, but about $15 overpriced and bare-boned accessory-wise." That way others are more likely to see it than having comments all but lost on a now hidden product announcement page. Though, TBH, I highly doubt and would honestly be completely surprised if they actually approved and posted a realistic and honest review like that. :lol

Proof is in the pudding. Those of us horror fans who picked up Pamela Voorhees know all to well. Check out Pamela's reviews:

There's no point looking at the reviews on their site. Those are probably the only people who actually like it out of everyone who bought the figure.

It's like with movies. They're not going to advertise with negative quotes.

Though there was one movie's (The Covenant? can't find the news article) DVD cover which had a quote from a bad review, though skewed a bit. :lol

You're right but I've never quite understood that. We print derogatory letters in the letter column of our magazine because I think everyone deserves an equal say. That said, I don't see the benefit of posting on an obscure product announcement page. The reps are here from time to time, likely read this thread and know how we feel. If they want to add something to the piece and lessen the blow of the price, which I highly doubt, they will.

Sideshow's comments on this figure (Not sure if they've been posted)

Indiana in German Disguise was chosen for a few reasons:
1) The first Indiana Jones figure was very, very popular.
2) The figure design is relatively simple, allowing us to produce the figure more quickly than some others in the planning stages.
3) It combines two great tastes - Indiana Jones and real-world military, definitely a project that our design and development teams enjoyed.

We would love for the line to continue on for a long, long time. Marion, Sallah and Marcus are on our wish list of characters for 1:6 scale figures, but fall behind others in terms of popularity and for what we believe will translate best into 1:6 scale form.

Sounds like if this line continues Sallah, Marion and Marcus are longshots....:(

I think if the first Indy figure was very, very popular than ToD Indy would have made more sense. I assume we will at least see ToD Indy and Henry Senior.

Ironically, I wouldn't mind paying the $90 price for bare boned versions of the "longshots." And at least then, I'd understand the lower ES. You'd think they would've learned from past characters like Q that the oddballs can be the gems in a line. Their answer in the Q&A had LOTR written all over it. :lol

Also odd that the eventual Mrs. Jones is considered not as popular as who? Mola Ram? More Indys? Sr? Mutt? :lol

I want a Mola Ram, I want a Henry Sr but I can't imagine a Raiders line being done without a Marion.

Clearly Marion is as silly as Goldfinger, Gimli or the Medieval Kurgan.

I think making female characters might be too hard for them. Seems like for every hit they have a miss. Leia was fine but Padme...:google. Pamela Voorhees looked like a prescription drug addict but Laura Croft was good. Just look at the melon-headed Slave Leia PF.

As for Sallah, I still think they have something personal against John Ryes-Davies. He was overlooked in Bond, abandoned in the LOTR line and now (indefinitely) postponed as "hard to sell" in the Indy line as well. Hell, if they'd given us a General Pushkin from Bond, we could've done our own versions, but nada.

I'm holding out hope for Marion... Sallah would be great, but I am not holding my breath for that.. same as for Marcus... but dang those would be fantastic to have in my workshop shelves !

well the sad thing is besides multiple indies how many characters are there before you get to marion, sallah and marcus.

Henry Sr.
Mola Ram
Vogel (maybe?)
If not Marion then could Elsa be on the list?
Short Round?
Mutt?

There are not that many until those they listed as hard sells are the only ones left.

Marion is in 2 films, she is the perfect Indy girl, and his wife. The Mother of his child.

If Marion is a longshot, I dont think they plan on making females whatsoever.

I'm not holding my breath for anyone other then Mutt, Henry Sr., and Variants of Indy at this point.
