Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

One thing people seem to haven't noticed; It's the same as "Raiders" Indy with a new head and a few new accessories. Production costs will be lower than most of the other figures in the line. They more than likely won't cancel it, because they might be able to recoup the loss from some of the sales duds in the line.

I noticed, which is why I ended up cancelling my order. Not worth it to me to drop $100 on a figure just for a new head sculpt (nothing against Tevor as he's an incredible sculpter), especially since Sideshow doesn't seem interested in continuing on with the 1:6 line.

Differant colored pants and web belt, differant gun belt, differant holster, differant headsculpt, better paint apps by a mile, and the fridge.

People can talk as much ???? as they like on this figure, I think Crystal Skull the movie is an utter abomination, maybe one of the worst movies ever made, but this will be a far better figure then their inaccurate Raiders version with his Paris Hilton orange spray tan and limp puppet body.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

I wouldn't care. I just want ONE definitive ROTLA Indy figure. And the floppy body and crap production paint prevents the SSC figure from achieving that label.

Buy a Saturday Toys body or a Narrow Shouldered TrueType and pay for a repaint. By the time you're done, you'll have a HT quality Indy and still have saved about $20. :dunno

And everyone was saying the SS Indy was going to be better than the Toys McCoy Indy. Not saying that TM is perfect, just doesn't have the issues the SS one does.

It did. Sideshow's Indy spanked the TMC Indy like an abused, freckle-faced, readheaded step child. The TMC was great for what it was back in the day, but still being 3x the price of Sideshow's Indy (WHEN IT CAME OUT!) makes it all the more lackluster. Nostalgia is great, but don't get blinded by it.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

I disagree partner. Price aside, sculpt is better on the SS one, 2 heads, boots, bag, gloves, lack of a giant zipper. The SS one does have a lot more potential once customized, but outta the box the clothing, paint, idol and body are lame. Side by side, I give it to TM which speaks more to SS's flaws than TM's strengths. I'm with IJ that a great Raiders fig has yet to be produced.

I don't know. SS had a floppy body and shoddy paints. The jacket wasn't leather but the way it fell, looks near perfect. But you'd give it to a figure that had a s**tty likeness, a ripped off G.I. Joe body and a price tag 3x as high?! For $55 I can make a HT-quality Indy from Sideshow's and still be at less than half the price of the MCT. :duh

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Ok. It's a wash then. :p Expectations got me. I was let down by SS Indy and not by TMC. Still, it came with a ???? load of stuff compared to some of the $90 figs now. The silver lining is, with some clever customization, SS Indy can be a really stellar figure. I generally look at the SS figs as "kits" anyway.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

this line still on "pause"? i only ever picked up Indy (awesome figure) and Belloq (awesome "accessory"). For a while I felt like I could keep Belloq on display waiting for more figures like Sallah and Marion and Map room Indy but now I'm realizing with this line halted that Belloq is an absolute waste of space. I'm actually considering turning him into a "victim" figure for a GI Joedisplay...LOL. What a waste of space. I'd feel so embarrased to own him had he not come with the relic dio.

The MCT Indy came out at a time when there was NOTHING Indy really on the market save for crappy scraps here and there you could snag at Disney parks, so nostalgia does play a great deal into it. You had nothing to be let down by as that was it. Sideshow's Indy came out amidst MANY Indy offerings, including Hasbro's (which I think for the price, was a great figure!) so the bar was set unfairly high. Still though, even looking at it as a kit it's the best Indy out there in 1:6 scale.

You need to turn him into an "Adventure Gear" Belloq. It's an easy bash, parts can be had for less than $30 :)naughty) through TA and it makes him look 100x better.

That's debatable. But what isn't is that I would indeed have to pay for a repaint of the head and probably wait 2-12 months to get it back in order to have something that looks as good as it would have from Hot Toys right out of the box. I'd eat the extra $20 for that in a heartbeat, but I guess that's just me.

Sideshow can produce some great stuff in 1:6 (Henry, G.I. JOE, some SW), but too often they are stuck in a no-man's land where they lose the Quality vs Value tug-of-war. For that to happen to ROTLA is a disgrace.

ToyAnxiety. Best thing to do is just go to the 1:6 parts area, don't click on a brand, and just go shopping as you scroll through all the various pages. :lol Each time you find an item that fits, open it in a new window/tab and add it to your cart. That way you don't have to start over.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

thank you Nam :)

No prob bud! :D Just be warned... I always do a lot of "Oh, I can use this for this guy!" or "Oh, that's cool, I'll use that on something!" which are completely unrelated to the custom I'm actually shopping for. Before I know it, my shopping cart has hit 3 digits. :lol

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

Sorry if resurrecting this thread gave anyone false hope. :(

Just wanted to point out the current quantities of the in-stock Indy 1:6 figures.

KOTC Indy Ex is at ~100

Indy in German disguise is at ~40

Toht Ex is at ~70

Belloq Reg is at ~10

They're all taking their sweet time to sell out, which does not bode well for the line. There's been movement on KOTC Indy ex and Toht ex, which is promising. But the other two have not changed in a while. Their sales make perfect sense. The two most expensive ones have the most quantity, and the two most bare-bones figures are next.

After seeing Calvcade's brilliant TOD Indy and the rest of his fantastic customs, it made me really sad to know that Sideshow will most likely not produce the last 2 Indys, much less any of the supporting characters and villains.

Let's hope that SS was serious when they mentioned releasing Indy 12" figures in 'batches' from here on, starting with TOD (possibly in collaboration with HT)...Perhaps in sets of 3 figures and an environment released over the course of a year...

TOD:
1. Adventure Indy
2. Shorty
3. Mola-Ram

Could be wishful thinking, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

If Sideshow is indeed collaborating with Hot Toys (as they have stated), is it just a matter of paying royalties for the existing Wolverine body, or would they have to develop a whole new body like they did the armor body? The Wolverine body seems to be just about perfect for Indy. It's not overly buff like the rubber body ones and it has better articulation.

Our development team is in the midst of evaluating TOD characters (including Indy) for production, including considerations like collaboration with Hot Toys for muscle bodies.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

"Are we getting any more Indiana Jones 1/6th figures anytime soon?

SideshowBrock: More will come, but not in the next few months..."

This quote is from the Fantacular chat log that I got in Sideshow's email today.
I guess there's a better chance that we'll see more 1/6 figures now. Hopefully this line is back from the dead.

Re: Indy 12'' line on ''pause.''

I'd say if there's nothing by SDCC you can go ahead and quit staring down at the casket and start throwing dirt on top. :lol
