Hmmmmm..where have I seen this pose before.:D

I was getting pumped during the trailer... until the very end. Then with the flying around/War Machine fighting a bunch of robots, it started to look a little over the top. That combined with all of the additional supporting characters (Black Widow, Nick Fury, War Machine, and at least two villains) makes me hope they're not cramming too much stuff into a single film.

I'll definitely be there midnight, I just hope Favreau doesn't go overboard and turn this into a completely mindless fanboy-type sequel. The first one was too good to deserve one of those.

Re: Iron Man 2

That was a great trailer - maybe a little too fanboyish - notice the way he lands at the Stark Expo? Nothing about the story - but seeing Whiplash in action was pretty cool.

Re: Iron Man 2

I'm getting from the trailer that Tony won't give the US Government the Iron Man tech, then another nation (maybe Russia, The Mandarin?) hires the Black Widow to steal the tech (or they get it from Whiplash?) and Build the Titanium Men seen at the end. So Tony builds the War Machine to help fight the new baddies.

May 7th can't come soon enough, I'm really looking forward to this!

Re: Iron Man 2

It looked to me in one shot of Black Widow that the same leader from Iron Man 1's middle eastern group was following her, it was quick shot and I could be wrong, but he was left to live I believe, just his men were executed.

Re: Iron Man 2

I'm sure this is covered in the Marvel forum, but for those of us who don't tread there, here's the trailer: https://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/

Doesn't give off that epic feel that the first one did, but there is plenty of fan-wank going one. Still looks pretty solid though.

I missed that trailer, but man it looks awesome!!!! :rock :rock :rock

I just got these awesome double sided posters from my theater:

I thought the beginning was over the top with a flippant Tony mouthing off to Garry Shandling as a senator. The end with Iron man and War Machine blowing the hell out of an army of robots got me back in.

What do you think is wrong with the CGI exactly, if I may ask?

I'm not sure, it just doesn't seem to be at the level of the prior sequences in that trailer. I've always thought that the CGI in Iron Man was at it's most realistic when combined with physical props/sets or if it's a close-up of the armor simple actions that, while simple, an actor/stuntman inside the actual suit could not perform without looking awkward. In full-action sequences, the CGI just can't retain that realism. Granted, it's a shortcoming of many films, but I just seemed like with films such as Avatar or Where the Wild Things Are the combination of what is CGI and what is physical has become much more seamless.

That final shot in the IM2 trailer looked a bit like a CG cutscene in a video game. I'm thinking it was a full CGI sequence, environment and all.

It's not really fair though (for me to say all that), because the film is far away and it's a half-second shot in a short trailer I'm judging all this on, but hey, you asked.

Actually, I just watched it in 1080p and I have to say that you're right. It doesn't look bad at all, but it seems as though it could be better, especially the animations. Plus have you noticed how when Tony/IM lifts his arms up to salute the crowd right after dropping in his famous kneeling pose it looks, well, weird...? I guess we'll have to wait. Hopefully IM will count in the 0.1% of the CGI that gets worked on until release.
