For me the only real shot where it was completely evident that I was looking at CGI was the flying shot after the "You Complete Me" joke where he is flying around...it looks like animation from a game. Favreau and team though are still cutting and editing these things together (some of the shots may not even make it into the film, a pet peeve of mine when talking about trailers) so I have faith it'll all work out.

Because you think they will re-work what you've seen in the trailer? Riiight. What you see now is what you'll get, unless it's totally crappy, in which case they wouldn't have shown it in the first place. Trailers and videogame demos are 99.9% of the time what you get in the end.

That's not always true. All of the WATCHMEN trailers, for example, featured FX shots that were much more detailed, robust and photo-real in the final release.

Also, the first IRON MAN film had a Super Bowl trailer with the shot of him shooting the tank with the rocket then walking away... that looked much better in the final film. I distinctly remember a lot of people hating that shot in the Superbowl trailer and saying it looked like a "videogame cut-scene" (because it did). But then the movie came out 3 months later and it was one of the coolest bits in the flick.

And there were a couple of shots in this new IM2 trailer that already look better than they did at SDCC. So, the FX shots here are not necessarily final at all. We're still some 4 months away from picture lock.

Once again...hence the 0.1%.

Okay, so the first IRON MAN (with the same director and crew) that had initial trailers with unfinished FX would be in that same "0.1%" then??

My point stands. You can't assume any of the FX shots in this trailer are completely finished.

That's bull. Movie trailers ALWAYS show outdated CGI, sometimes significantly so.

And a lot of films of this magnitude are often still being edited and adding effects and music and all that right up until weeks before it premiers. I haven't watched it in awhile but it seemed like IM1 was worked on until pretty close to premier time. It's just the way things are these days, especially the heavy FX films. They shoot it one way, go to render the effects and then realize the filmed part isn't quite right, so they do reshoots which means gathering actors again. Trailers are good for getting a feel for the film, but rarely are they a look at finished product, as far as FX shots go. I remember last year's Hulk movie, his big intro shot for the final battle was just him yelling, then the final rendering had some of his shirt still on him and he had to throw it off, pretty different from the original look. Also, the marketing of the movie can't sit and wait for the film to be done, I'm sure some FX were rushed just to assemble this trailer and the full work continues.

True. The shot with him and Pepper in the back of the plane, in particular, certainly looks unfinished to me. Pay attention to the background and rotoscoping. It almost looks like pre-viz. I'm sure a few of the FX shots in this trailer aren't finalized yet.

loved the trailer. Finally something that looks entertaining..not like cacavatar and clash of the cacas.

yeah, I have no worries it'll look amazing once the film's released. They played that War Machine part at SDCC and it was just him in that scene, so I'm sure they'll polish up the CGI alot more.

can anybody put a direct link for the full 1080 p vers of the teaser please ?
