That looks ****!

Yeah, I don't really know what to say, you all know more about this than I do. If #124 looks like that...

You all were talking about XM's version, here's side-by-side comparison:

XM Studio and Sideshow Ironman Side by Side Comparison - YouTube

They delayed the MKII Maquette 3 months.Though one color, that statue relies heavily on the black lining they use to bring out detail in things like the rivets. It'll be interesting to see if they can turn things around.

Another unboxing/review. Not good guys.

OMG SS. Even a 5 yr old with a crayon can paint this piece better. I feel very bad for this guy whos doing the video review. :(

A good, high detail, 13 minute review. More of the same unfortunately. He gave his Maquette 7/10. Generous, but I'm glad he's happy enough to keep his. I just thought the quality would be much higher on these statues. Still freaking out about the Mark 2. The silver paint on this statue, in particular, is very globby and uneven.

These lines do look bad. I'm officially worried about IM pieces now. The iron patriot was the first bad iron man I witnessed.

"This cost me over 500 bucks. I don't want a paint job that looks like it's been done by a 10 year old."

:lol

What I don't get is how can SSC put out a product as flawless as Allied Captain, and yet put out a product like this.

I have to agree. This looks bad. : /

The collector's expressions and words say it all.

This is a miss.

Not a miss, forum consists of prob less than 20% of sideshow buyers. There's always more negative posts being entered than those who received good ones.
Most my buds who received their mark 42 loves them with barely any paint bleeds. Even XM has paint bleeds on their mark 42.
XM 42 wins obviously but SS one isn't bad either for half the price.

I should clarify: The SSC 42 in that video was a miss. I know that may not represent the whole, but that paint app is ridiculous.

And the other pics that I've seen so far have been sub-par, IMO.

I do agree with you about the price, but at some point, I'll have to argue why purchase at all. If paint apps are horrible, I don't care how great the price is - it's not worth it at all.

I'm not bashing this piece. The sculpt looks excellent and I love the pose (better than XM, IMO).

Has any photos of a great paint app been posted? I'm sure I'm missed some because the thread is huge, but I'm honestly asking.

Lou liked his statue, and I'm happy that people are getting good copies, I would hope that the worst examples aren't the norm, but these guys got a good sculpture that's very poorly painted, and that should be discussed too. Even if 95% of these statues come out with a good paint job (doubtful) it means 150 out of 3,000 will be **** and that's not right. They shouldn't have let these ship from China. 3,000 is not a huge production run, they can inspect them and have consistent standards, that's not too much to ask for, IMO.

But no, I haven't seen HD closeups of a good paint job, I've just been catching the video reviews on youtube as they come out. If someone has a good copy I'd love to see the back/spine area on their statue to see if they can pull off fine detail at all these days. That seems to be a big problem area.

Saw that video you posted a link too. Funny enough, I found it right before you posted. :lol

I'm glad some people are happy, but yeah, QC needs to be consistent. And as you said, still have yet to see people who are happy post close ups of 'famous' problem areas. Definitely interested to see what others are willing to accept.

Beautiful piece with lots of potential, especially with the right paint app.

This. I have yet to see any reviewer of this statue post any close-ups of their own while claiming it has an excellent or very good paint app. A few have done it on this board, but not youtube. Lou does his reviews from a mile away. Yeah, like I'm supposed to take his word that his piece was the only one with an excellent paint app. Show me close, Lou. Show me closelier...

I enjoyed Vic's review on this, because he showed integrity and no bias toward Sideshow. He also proved his points with close-ups of both statue makes. I agreed with him too when he gave props to the pose on Sideshow's. The pose is the only kudos this statue deserves.

Yeah, I liked that guy and his reviews a lot. Very unbiased, IMO and tells it like it is. I need to follow this guy for future reviews.

I got a 3-5 week email almost 4 weeks ago so I'd expect anytime now.

What's with all of this multiple batches thing lately from Sideshow??

I know the ES of this one is a bit higher, but it seems like they're practicing this a bit more.

Plays on your emotions when you're waiting for a piece, and others already have it. :lol
