Re: Iron Man Mark 42 1/4 Maquette by Sideshow Collectibles & Legacy Effects

Great repaint Andy! :clap

;)
:lol

Good pics and breakdown on your thoughts for all the Mk 42 pieces you had/have.

Do you have the bust as well? I would like to see that and thr maquette together. The 42 and IP displayed together with their respective busts would look great I think.

I love the ring of LEDs around the base. Where did you get those?

Got mine today, number 68. Looks good, not amazing. Still better than IP (which, BTW, I got a decent one) but out of the 3, the XM wins for me. Yes, I hate there are no lights but the paint is immaculate. And when collecting statues, the paint application is really one of, if not the most, important factors to me.

Still, I'm very happy to add to my collection and am excited to see how both WM Mk. II and IM Mk. II turn out (I have them both on PO). Any yes, I know that WM is just the IP repaint, which should be a good thing, lol!

Glad you are happy with your purchase.

By the way...no need to justify any of your future purchases. Buy what you like, and to hell what anyone else thinks. :wink1:

Great pics and I agree with your points :rock
Really pleased you are happy with it :hi5:

Hey buddy, thanks for the kind words :) Yea, totally loving this MK42...finally i'm after going through statue after statue, i'm finally at piece with the MK42 :yess:

Pics look great Andy! I have to admit, you make any piece look better with ur photos. I think whichever one you get, XM or SSC, mark 42 looks great. If I can get a good discount coupon on the SSC one, I will strongly consider taking the plunge at some point. Turned out great and gives me hope for future IM pieces by SSC. Now they need to do a 1/4 Hulkbuster:rock:rock:rock

Hey Satosh, thanks for the kind words buddy, although most of the work was done my Iphone 6 Plus :lol :) Yea, i think if you do decide to get this then you' be happy with it...however, here's my advice. I think the Sideshow MK42 Maquette is at it's most effective when posed with the Iron Patriot Maquette and so i'd probably hold out for one of the other Iron Man Maquettes to be released in the future....those of course are the MKII, III, V and the MKVII. The upcoming MKII is gonna be massive but i still can't get my head round on the pose :dunno

I love the iron studios/ssc comiquette pose though to.

totally agree...its definately my favourite of the three :)

I was looking at the proto base yesterday because i had the same thought when i saw Laudel's pic. Other than that though he's looking good so congrats guys. :hi5:

Yea, it's pretty bland mate. Gonna get the base shipped out next week for some extra added detail i think. Was also surprised at just how light the base was...

That actually looks good. Over all though, I like this and that ring of lights on the base really sets it off...

Hey Matt, thanks for the kind words buddy :) Possible purchase or just waiting for the War Machine Variant?

Congratulations on the paint coming out well. Like I said before, I've got the MKII POed, & was pretty worried about the paint application after lurking on the forums for awhile. I don't think it will be perfect, but I love the Prototype, anything 85-90% close to that and I'll be happy.

If anyone can explain that, or send me a link I'd appreciate it.

Something interesting I just noticed looking at the new pics... I never liked this pose (no offence - I know most people hate the MKII pose) because it wasn't apparent what action IM is doing. Is he running? Readying a repulsor blast? Or mid-uppercut? Again, glad things came out well with the paint application. :rock

Thanks my friend :) It's funny cos the way you feel about the MK42 in regards to 'what the heck is the pose about?' is exactly how i feel about the MKII Maquette :lol Who knows what sideshow was thinking :dunno In an ideal world i'd have loved for the MK42 and Iron Patriot Maquettes to have had the same bases (like we got for the MKVI and War Machine Maquettes a few years ago) would've made more sense. The MKII is just a mystery to me....but i still have it on PO! ;)

Great pictures, I love it! And I agree totally :clap

Thanks my friend :hi5:

:lol :lol you funny guy Eric ;)

Hey my friend, thank you for your kind words :) Unfortunately, i cancelled my pre order with Sideshow for the MK42 Lifesize bust...i just think the prices for the busts have become rediculous since the release of their Iron Patriot bust (which was appalling in my opinion and totally overpriced at $1000) I've now sold a number of my Iron Man busts and only have the MKIII and my custom MKVII busts left in my collection which are two of my favourites although it was very difficult selling my War Machine Bust as that one was one of the best :(

Damn. Now I am tempted to pick this up.

It'sa very cool piece buddy...i can certainly recommend it :)

Thanks my friend :) They are called LED ropes and are easily found on ebay ;)

I had not seen the new War Machine mark II ( IP repaint ). I really like it. Might have to order that one too.

I would have to, but I don't really like the idea of having two statues the same, but just with different paint to be honest. But thats just me. If I didn't have IP i would :)

Yea I'm not a fan of repaints either. Unless they are sitting in completely different areas in my display, it would bug me that I paid twice for the same mold:lol Andy, I hear ya...having IP and Mark 42 together solidifies both but I could never bring myself to buy the IP PF unless later batches matched the quality on this Mark 42 paintwise. In the end, I have too much on PO so I will pass on these...I'm still very happy with my Mark VI and WM maquettes.

I didn't get IP....just the Mark 42 IM so this War Machine would be a good addition for me.

Yeah, if I had mk VI and WM that would do me. But unfortunately I passed on them at the time :lol and I am not paying the piper the price for them now :lol

That looks awesome :hi5:
:monkey2 and I sold him my comiquette to :lol
To be fair I was out of collecting at the time.

I think id look out for the WM maybe. Then im gonna go for mk3 and that will maybe do it for IM... Maybe ;)

Someone needs to video review this thing.

Basically, gimme more to look at while I contemplate ordering this guy.
