Re: iron spider-man from bbts

just got an e-mail from bbts.....

Hi - we recently listed this item using information Sideshow emailed to all their wholesale accounts over the weekend. We have just discovered that the information they sent us was incorrect. Their pricing showed a $199.99 MSRP on the email, The actual MSRP is $289.99. I apologize that we did not check thier website against the offer that was sent out, but this sort of error has not happened with them before. We will need to adjust our sale price from $189.99 to $279.99. If you need to cancel your preorder, feel free to do so, and sorry again for Sideshow's error.

ooooppppssss! :lol

I'm going to go ahead and keep the preorder discussion in one thread.

:peace

I new that was coming. Every other retailer has it for around $260. Figured there was an error in there somewhere.

I gotta say that I was very impressed with this piece in person. I think the exclusive will really take off with the shield and helmet. It really adds so much more to the piece as it looks rather bland without it.

Knew it was too good to be true.

WIZARDUNIVERSE has it for sale for $199. A great price, but Wizard is very shady and known for switching prices

If true ($199 wholesale price), I'm curious as to what the actual cost to produce the statue is?

1/2 or 2/3 the wholesale price after all the costs (labor, license, tooling, artists, etc, etc) are factored in?

It's a fantastic piece and I'm getting one regardless the cost !

i'm new to this but do you guys think this piece might be the next grail? sorry for the stupid question.

It has a great exclusive and is a nice looking statue, but it's not a major version of a character and most people will have no idea what the hell it is. Will most likely depend on the ES.

No, there will be a large ES and I don't see this piece being that in demand.

Quoted for Truth. Nothing will reach grail status in modern times unless they do a really tiny EX Edition Size. Even 300 ES in other lines don't reach grail statuses so that is pretty much out the window for anything done now.

Famous last words on future grail status. Didn't a lot of people doubt the current grails would ever become grails? lol

It's like predicting stocks. Good luck!

Everything is a grail. That crumpled up piece of paper. That's a grail. That dirty sock with holes. Yep, you guessed it! It's a grail! One of Bodie's leavings in a toilet... GRAIL!!!

I haven't been collecting for very long.
Would you consider a grail something that you just couldn't absolutely part with?
Or is it more along the lines of something with a low edition number?

Everyone says Grail this or that. The day of instant grails are gone. You gotta wait at least a year to see if a piece pays dividends.

Either that or be a repaint of Iron Man...

Oh I don't care if this piece becomes a grail. I do have it on order because I like it. I'm just "kinda" new to this and I keep hearing about "grails" and wanted to get kinda a definition on it. Sorry, don't know if you were responding to me or not...

I think the term "grail" used to carry some sort of sentimental value, with a grail piece being the most coveted for personal reasons--the most desired and special piece desired in one's collection.

Now it seems to have more of a financial connotation to it, referring to scarcity and high value on the secondary market.

For me, the Boba Fett PF was a grail piece because it was my favorite character in my favorite format, and it remains my favorite collectible. Is it worth even its original value on eBay? No. (The last exclusive sold for $75 below retail.) But I love it more than any other piece in my collection, it's the one thing I always wanted Sideshow to make, and they did make it and I was able to get one for myself.

So I think that a "grail" can mean different things to different people.
