If they release a new classic predator it would still be "different" from the P1, i would hope. If they are absolutely the same that would make me look like a fool for trying so hard to get a P1 so late in the game.

The classic in the Predators movie, did it actually look that similar to the 1987 P1? I can't remember...

:exactly: tell me about it.
ive just this second bought one from ebay :yess:
cant believe i was stupid enough to cancel my pre-orders though before it was released...it wouldve save me a lot of money :(
oh well, ive finaly got it! my 1st(and maybe only) predator! im SUPER PUMPED to say the least!

If memory serves, an HT article said that they were planning to release all 4 Predators from the film. If true, that would have to include the classic version. But I take anything HT says with a grain of salt until we actually see it.

yeah, i'm not convinced they'll actually sculpt a whole new figure just for a secondary character. i still think the're gonna reuse the P1 sculpt... again. a totally new figure sounds too good to be true considering their past behavior.

I recall the HT article shown here a while back was supposed to say they'd do a Classic with a new body. However, the "Classic Predator" in the Berserker publicity is just their P1.

Personally, I'd expect a "battle damaged" P1 - missing arm plate, broken helmet, no trophies - so it matches the film and doesn't completely &^%* off those who paid secondary market prices for the original.

A new, better fitting biomask would be nice too!

And it would be way better than the berserker :lecture

I have this dilema. Theres a guy who is offering me a new classic predator for $450, but i am afraid HT re-releases a new and probably improved version. What would you do?

Definitely take it, if they release a Classic version from Predators it will be different.

Do you think the price of the original Predator would decrease if they release a classic version from Predators?

if the classic is exactly the same as the P1 , the P1 will drop in price , but since i dont think it will be excatly the same it wont

Might even increase the price if the Classic doesn't turn out as people hope. Also might increase the P1's price if the Classic is on a bigger body. Some might seek out the P1 to convert the classic to it for the ultimate P1. Of course that'll go both ways, increasing the demand for the Classic as well.

ok..but if it resulted to be much better than the old version, then the P1 may decrease in value isnt it? I mean people may stop tracking it and just buy the new one.

not gonna happen, man. if you're that worried about HT prices, you could always get the NECA figures instead.

The P1 would totally go down in value if HT Brought out something essentially the same but with a $200 cheaper price tag.

You know everybody selling the P1 on ebay would fear the new arrival and lower asking prices for it. People also wouldnt bid as high knowing the alternative. It happens ALL the time. And you know what happens if they dont lower the prices? People going to think im not paying $400 for a figure that i can buy now for $150. And maybe splash out on a loose jungle base if needed for an extra $40. And the P1 would plumet right back down. And depending on the quality of Classic it would Kill the P1 where it stands. Youd still get people cherishing it in their collection and people listing it on ebay for an insane price. But they wont be selling.

But you, you already know that.

It's funny how contradictory this opinion is to what actually happens on the HotToys secondary market. Keep wishing. :wink1:

I would say now. I don't think HT's going to release a classic. Potentially a Tracker and then maybe another human or another Lost predator. Given that, I'd say now is the best time. The economy's improving and the older he gets, the higher the price will get.

You talk as though ive not spent about $20,000 on 1:6 figures duirng my time as a collector. And as though im not on the net morning afternoon and day for the last 10 or so years.

Its common sense that what i said will happen. People arent dumb. They wont spend over the odds if there is a close enough alternative half the price.

P1's will still be on ebay for high prices. They will also get about 1/3 the attention.

Rambo, The Terminator (T1-T800) and RoboCop are just a few examples to the contrary. While that may be the case with over saturated licenses like Batman and IM, it's not gonna happen with the smaller licenses.

...and $20k? Psh, that's chump change. :lol:nana:
