Is another classic Predator figure from Hot Toys coming?

The most they will do is the classic Predator from Predators with some battle damage and maybe a new body.

And some cardboard backgrounds.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a Pred 1 done at proper height. Not sure I'd pay $250 for it but still.

Maybe, if it had a light up gauntlet as well as laser sight.

Then again, after seeing Indy, DX does not mean improved.

All this talk about a new body. Won't giving P1 a new body make him out of scale with Berserker and Falconer? I remember seeing the HT proto pics of Berserker standing next to P1 to brag about the "accurate height differential." Releasing "Classic" on that new body would make that entirely irrelevant.

I hope they do, and with a sculpt that actually looks like it. P1 was the worst Pred to date, imo. The thing just looked silly.

If they released the normal predator from the new movie with the smashed mask i would definently buy it

Hopefully HT can see what can be done with a little love and time by looking at NECAs P1 sculpt.

Saying that though, HT's Berserker and Falconer aren't 100% screen accurate so Classic probably won't be either.

Predator 1 didn't really turn out in scale with the Berserker anyhow because the Berserker's height ended up being quite a bit smaller than what it was originally advertised as. The Predator 1 figure is slightly shorter than Berserker, but not nearly as much as was advertised when they first revealed Berserker. It bothered a lot of people, but I didn't mind it to be honest.

I would think that if they wanted to make a Classic Predator from Predators, it might possibly be made on a muscle body similar to the one that Berserker came on, but smaller to fit in with the Super Predators. I'm fine with my two Predator 1 figures, but wouldn't really mind if they did one from Predators with the new techniques that they developed for this Predators line. Then again they could just re-release Predator 1 with no trophy necklace, some battle damage, and a broken mask and call it a day as well.

The sculpt! Nothing to do with the overall quality, materials, paint apps or pricepoint. I don't see anything laughable about what he said. And its not absurd to think of Hot Toys looking at Neca stuff either since theres a pic somewhere of the guy sculpting the HT alien with a McFarlane one in the background.

Unfortunately they also see twats like selektiv who pretty much has made a total mockery of Neca and its fans in this forum so I can't entirely blame people for anti-neca sentiment around here. But in any case this is a HT thread so....

Shhhhhhhhh. :wink1: :lol

But they won't look at the sculpt, all they see for some reason is... Paint :dunno

If NECA wants to be taken more seriously, then they need to make sure the end result looks as good as it should. The minute you guys bring up NECA, the first thing that comes to mind are the cheap figures I see in TRU that looked like they were painted by a blind kid, chained to a milk crate who lives in a dilapidated sweatshop and fed on cockroaches. In the eyes of any serious collector, it's all about that END result. Because if I can't justify the end product, I can't really defend aspects of it, because that's what you get. :huh

This is the reason I'm waiting to see in-hand shots of the 1:4. Guys can talk up tankman's stuff night and day but at the end of the day, if the finished piece looks like an 18" turd in fishnets, it'll be an easy pass and most laughable.

lol, the description of a blind kid chained made me laugh. I know if that was the real case, it would be no laughing matter...

but yah...hopefully this comes out nice.

Just like the Berserker Predator looked exactly like how Hot Toys advertised him to be...

I can't remember anyone on the boards complaining about the height issues or light feature not working properly...:lol

I love my Berserker by the way. He's a great figure. Just making the point that cheap figres have their issues, as do high end figures. Nothing will ever be perfect.

Yeah, nothing objectionable here. I'll allow. I was going to put a winky smiley here but they don't seem to be working. Neither can I italicise or underline words. Whats with that?

The 1/4 Predator will probably still have paint flaws, my alien does, they're just not as many or as bad as the 8" figures - plus the size really does impress. I hate to concede any points to Selektiv but I think he was right about that....not that 1/6th suddenly sucks...just that 1/4 is pretty good based on my Neca Alien.

I'm hoping it's an older Sly though, either a Rocky Balboa or Rambo IV figure.
If you want an older Sly, just get Barney Ross. From all the pics, it looks to be a pretty sweet figure.

As far as whether or not the Original pred will go down in price because of a new classic pred....I think the original pred will just not go up in value as much or as fast, but I don't think it will decrease in value.

IF Classic still will be then it must be on a new more authentic body.
The main thing is that Mr Tsang must not engaged all these!!! >__<

...

Otherwise it will just another grinding of old rotten bones.

As much as I would like to see a new version of the Classic Predator, I don't think HT will release one, at least not in the near future. Yes, it would make them a bunch of money right away, but in the long run, it would destroy a habit they've been "injecting" into new and old collectors/customers: Buy figures as soon as released because you never know if another or better version of the same character will be made again (And buy them right away before they go up in price). I think keeping this habit in their customers purchase practice is much more valuable than a one time sell out.
Releasing another version of the P1 would get the message out that it's ok to wait and not buy right away since another version of the same character or an improved one (DX) might come in the future. I think they made this mistake with both the TDK Joker and Batman figures when they released DX versions for both, but I am under the impression that that was a self correction for delivering such a low quality on the first versions from a film that turned out to be a big success.
Also, Hot Toys doesn't care about secondary market prices of their product, whether the price goes above or below original retal. All that they care about (as any intelligent company should) is to sell out their new product as soon as possible to make their profit right away and move on with their next projects.
