Ive always said that the majority of people in this hobby are self entitled crybabies. everyone is looking for a good deal and wants people to sell to them for cheap. hence the, "help out a fellow freak..." bull____.

Why the ____ should I help you out? Other than the fact that we are members on the same forum aside from the thousands of other people here, i dont know you one bit.

They probably have never helped out a single person before yet they EXPECT others to do them favors because they are a 'fellow freak'. then when you dont want to sell them for a loss, they call you out on it and all of a sudden youre the bad guy. give me a ____in break you damn crybaby _____es.

I found this to be hilarious......because its so ____ing true! :exactly:

Yeah there were spoiled rich kids in the 80's. There has been and always will be spoiled rich kids. There is a difference. Now there are lazy, self-centered, want everything/do nothing kids across all economic classes. And they get away with being like this because we as parents are limited to what we can do about it. Past generations didn't get away with it because we were afraid we would get our ***** whipped. Kids these days have no fear of any sort of punishment. It is the parents who have that fear.

There are plenty of ways to punish without ass whipping. All of those things that kids have these days that encourage their laziness can be taken away. My motto is "All I have to do is feed you, clothe you, and shelter you. The rest are privileges that can be revoked."

I think they don't have the same appreciation that older collectors have. For these kids - I think they just can ask and they get it. So no appreciation.

Like HT releasing three versions of Cap isn't enough :gah:

For Figures it's all about the next version of the same character they already have. For example instead of being happy they are getting four Avengers in a row & three more coming, all that matters is getting another and another :dunno

One thing i've noticed about figures is there is very litle value to them for their owners, its all about the updated version, when does enough Batman / Iron Mans become enough?

The proper way to deal with this kind of behavior is to gently suggest alternate ways of expressing their feelings, in a manner that shows moderators how helpful and understanding you are of their obvious brain damage. We must be helpful and understanding.

devilof76 out.

I approve this message.

It's not generational - there are jerks of every age and as the hobby grows it will attract individuals of every stripe. I'd be curious as to who they are though - so we can get rid of them here at least. Nothing I can do about Facebook.

I have FB friends who don't know anything about the hobby. They see my pics of figures and are honestly interested. So I send them to the HT Community/Collectors page and they see all this childish behavior.

Makes me look bad  And gives the hobby a bad rap.

Direct them to onesixthwarriors. It's a much more mature and older audience in general compared to here.

OMG! I actually have to agree with nash for once.

Love it when someone posts they're in a financial bind, and don't want to but have to sell off most of their collection to pay for a loved ones operation (just an example) and some _______ posts "help a freak out ...." and proceeds to ask this person to sale it to them ridiculously cheaper than they're asking (which may be cheaper than evilBay). It's like ____ you _______, you see I need money for a dire reason. You help me out and give me twice what I'm asking, you self entitled little prick!

Like when they suck at sports and still get a trophy because of the "everyone wins" new age kahkah!

Kids need to lose, get told no, suck at things, get made fun and above all else learn how to EARN somthing!

:gah:

:lecture:lecture:lecture

Somehow entitlement has been confused for self esteem and now every kid gets a trophy at the end of the season. Makes no sense.

Not sure kids are dropping $200 on figures...unfortunately you are dealing with adults.

I don't know about that. There are a lot of spoiled kid's whos parents wouldn't even blink an eye at spending 200. bucks on an action figure for their kids. Case in point: One of my friends was selling magic cards at costa mesa about 10 years back. A ten year old kid came in and wanted to spend over $100 on some magic cards. At first my friend wasn't going to sell him the cards unless he asked permission from his parents. He brought his mom over and she didn't in blink an eye. She said it was fine.

Well I helped out a fellow board member when I was at SF because he wanted some Tron stuff that you could only get here in Canada. Without hestitation, I did. Looking for that Damn hoody was a pain. I didn't ask for any favors or compensation in return.

6 months later he dropped me an email and ask if i wanted anything from SDCC and I took his offer.

I think sometimes helping out someone isn't so bad. Now with statues and $$ that might be a little different.....but I'll still give them a little discount :)

Someone asking you to pick something up for them is cool. That's truley helping out a fellow collector. People messaging you asking "help a freak out, bro" and wanting you to significantly drop your asking price for them, is not.

Vern was right??

Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."

I tend to want to help people if possible. But my policy is that if I they burn me just once - they're dead to me.

There's an opposite to this issue. There's always spoiler brat and poor ghetto kiddies; wheather the IT thing is a simple toy(stupid stringy manaquen or yoyo) or a advanced modern toy/statue/etc. If I am a kid, again, and I am somehow blessed with parents who can pay, why not. Better this than a malnurious kid who have to eat or be eaten. To some extent, these items can be a confidence booster or status symbol among other kids. Or a development tools.

Only different now a days is there's more toys/gadget/etc. Rich or not, these youngster will inherite a more populated, poluted, bad economy, and expensive education. Grab whatever and enjoy while you still can. The grown up world is so full of bull too.

I guess either situation offers it's own lessons to be learned; having too much money - as well as having too little money. In either case - you still have responsibilities to keep up. Just because you have money or access to wealth; it doesn't excuse you from making responsible decisions and behaving in a responsible manner. And conversely - having little money or access to wealth doesn't give you license to expect handouts.

I personally went out of the way to help one particular member and boy did it blow up in my face. I'm over it - but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I think most members are decent. It's just the bad apples that stink up the cart.

:exactly: I approve of this thread, I've been a collector for 10+ years and into 1/6 scale for around 5 years. I've been a member here for about the same time and I've noticed a change in the type of people who come here.

It's disappointing and frustrating when every thread you read is filled with "I WANT, I WANT" or stupid comments. Constructive posts seem almost none existent nowadays :dunno

One guy was even miffed that I posted the pics and didn't offer pricing information. This was on the Hot Toys Company FB page - so if I had posted pricing - I would have looked like a douche and probably get banned.

Plus - I didn't post the pics to get business :lol

Brilliant. I would have to check, but given his fate for 'corrupting the youth of Athens', I assume Socrates is mocking the complaints of others.
