Is it the Dark Side that makes SW fans so evil?

MF, you're continually rephrasing a single flaw into an assessment of the figure as "flawed", as if it's a thumbs-up or thumbs-down situation.

But what does that mean for those of us who are both?

And you are repeatedly missing my whole point which is that whether you see A flaw in a good figure or a FLAWED figure, either way, for someone to not see it that way does not make them ignorant, it is how YOU view the item and other people are capable of seeing no flaws at all, it can happen.

:google :google :google PLEASE SPEAK SLOWLY.

So we go into NBC and tell them we've got an idea for a show about nothing.

Right.

They say what's your show about, we say "nothing".

Exactly.

I think you may have something here.

Maulfan do you concede these points as being innacurate?

Anakin's arm falling off
Han's resemblance
Luke's arm length
The lack of resemblance on the Buffy Faith, and Willow figures
The fabric texture on Qui Gon and his poncho length
The resemblance on Mace to SLJ
The fact that Ray Park has on eye higher than the other is nature, but sideshow made the wrong eye lower.

The following statement are MY perspective on these points, but again, I stand by the possibility that others could not find issue with some things.

Anakin's Arm - a great idea, a poor excution of construction

Han's Resemblance - A great representation of that character that is off slightly due to sculpting creating a perception that his face is a few pounds heavier than should be (I think that the sculpt of the hair played this more than the face)

Qui-Gon's Clothing - I am fine with the material used, but I do know that the film outfit was more of a smooth cotton type material not the textured material most Jedi robes consists of, and understand where people take great issue with the difference

Buffy - Never watched the show and own none of the figures or follow the line.

Mace Windu Sculpt - I think it looks like Sam Jackson and that the issue lies in that when LFL had the sculpt altered, there became a mismatch of expression throughout his face which creates a perception of departure from the original actor

Darth Maul sculpt - I don't see the eye issue on my Maul, to me it looks like it was corrected from the prototype images

Now if the point of this exercise is to bring up value in mentioning issues with these items, then everyone is missing my point and I don't know how I could make it clearer.

Some people will find flaws with parts or the whole of a figure, and I respect that and I am fine with discussing it.

Some people will find no flaws with parts or the whole of a figure, and I respect that and I am fine with discussing it.

My point, is that people on both sides have to acknowledge that the other side can exist despite what they feel, and be able to talk about their opinions without using words and statements that imply that their side is the only correct one and that something must be wrong with the person on the other side to feel the way they do.

This is tiresome.

Seeing no flaws at all isn't a capability. You're not "differently-abled" because you don't see something.

I've never disputed that others are "capable" of seeing no flaws at all. :)

And I maintain that, if you never noticed that Obi-Wan's eye was the wrong color, you'd be ignorant of that flaw.

Anzik just listed a bunch of things including a flaw in Maul of which I was completely ignorant. (I'm assuming it's true. I'd need to do some research to verify. But it seems like a cut-and-dry thing.)

If Ray Park's left eye is higher and the doll's right eye is higher, that'd be a flaw, and it wouldn't be subjective.

Would the doll be flawed? Yup. Would it still be friggin' awesome? Yup.

The Star Wars fan's particular talent for nitpicking is one of the reasons I left the throngs of the zealous. Everyone is free to discuss the fact that Ray Park has a funky left eye while SSC Maul has a funky right eye to their heart's content, but don't expect me to take you seriously.

I've never bothered to pay attention to Ray's eyes like that, as long as my Maul figure doesn't look like he took a c**shot to the eye and looks like a normal human that's fine by me, in fact I'd rather SSC clean up nature's mishap.

Anakin's arm falling off

Mine stays on just fine and did nothing to make it that way thats how it came.

Han's resemblance
It looks like han to me.

Luke's arm length
Ok ill give that one to you but I would have not noticed as quick if not for the 1000s of people complaining about it like it was the end of the world.

The fabric texture on Qui Gon and his poncho length
What??? I don't even know what you are talking about.

The resemblance on Mace to SLJ
Look like Mace to me.

The fact that Ray Park has on eye higher than the other is nature, but sideshow made the wrong eye lower.
Wow didnt know that either.

Sorry I don't have every single detail about every SW character memorized and I am not going to go frame by frame through the movie to find problems with my figures. I have much better things to do with my time.

The problem is that there are to many Virgins living in Mom basement who can could tell you every little detail about a character/actor so when the figures come out they go ape-s**t when the Anakin figure has 50 pores in his forehead when he clearly had 51 pores in the movie.

:rock :rock :rock :rock :rock :bow Couldnt have said it better myself. Some people are TOO anal about tiny, minute details.

Sorry to butt in... interesting, useful thread, and I've always loved communicaion and philosophy discussions (if I were a psychology or communications PhD candidate, I would totally do my thesis on the interplay between members on discussion boards)...

But another good hypothetical situation, to further demonstrate why it's not the greatest thing to call someone on the other side 'ignorant':

If you were, say, a supporter of a certain politician, and someone came up to you and said, "How can you ignore all of his many flaws and mistakes and still support this man! You are so IGNORANT!!" Wouldn't that chafe you?

Ignorant is just not a very nice word to call someone, no matter what and no matter WHICH side you are on (cheerleaders VS negative nancies... etc). No one is ignorant *simply* because their worldviews differ from my own, whether it's in regards to politics, religion, movies, or action figures. It's taken me a few years, and countless internet and interpersonal discussions/arguments, to come to terms with this... (WHY doesn't he see it the way I do? It's so OBVIOUS!!!)... but if *I* can, I have high hopes for all of my Freaks out there :) :duff

Finally someone else agrees with me!

Ignorance is bliss.

Agreed, I think ignorance is a strong word to use, I'd like to think that, in people's opinions, the good they do far outweighs the bad. I think tolerant is a better word to measure opinions as it judges how much of the bad you are willing to accept to get the good
