just being a good samaritan here:

I think you SW guys need to log off and vent this whole thing off in other way before it gets any ugli-er.

Personally, I think flaws are in the eyes of the beholder. Some got Anakin and didn't have an issue with the lips.... but most did. It all comes down to what matters to each of us and what we feel is most important... No one is right and no one is wrong.

That's the whole point right there!

I strive to be as Jedi-esque in life as I can.... short of wearing a robe and waving my hands around at people... :lol

I have enough FX sabers to do the job, for whatever that's worth lol.

I agree with you Pickard.... I mean, if every SSC product was perfect and Flaw free... I would have no job here! :lol

Well, Josh, even on that one, has anyone ever said they prefer the production lips to the prototype?

If everyone were to agree that the prototype's paint job is better, then couldn't we safely call the paint on the production piece a flaw?

When I got it, I thought the lips were a flaw, but not one that I minded terribly. It didn't bother me enough to have you repaint it, and I still really like the piece.

I think people are putting too much into someone identifying a flaw. It doesn't mean the product sucks. It just means it isn't perfect.

I'll admit that the production Obi-Wan isn't the same as the proto, but I don't consider it to be a flawed figure, it's my favorite of the group, I judge it as it is not by what it could have been because nothing is going to magically change that and I don't sit around wishing something was different on it, I love it for what it is. And again, you keep talking about OBVIOUS FLAWS, there is NO SUCH THING, what you see as flaws are obvious to you and that's how flaws are, but for someone that doesn't see them as flaws, they aren't obvious, they're not even flaws, you have to open your mind to the idea that people can be happy with what they see, and others will find faults, that's the way it is and as long as both sides can see that and be open to DISCUSSION, there can be balanced, civil discussion about these things.

You have to open your mind to the fact that people can see flaws and be happy with what the product. It's not an either-or situation.

You are certainly right there Pickard... I've never heard anyone ever ever say they preferred the Production lips of Anakin to his Proto... and if I did I would probably ask if they were perhaps...insane... :lol

And you are also correct on the word...flaw... It is indeed flawed and not as it should be. And that does not mean it sucks, as you said as well. We all see different things about something that we like or don't like.

Hell, I remember when Les came over to my house and we talked about how he hadn't bought the SSC Obi due to the fact that he thought the head was too big and his ears stuck out more than Ewan's did. I never noticed before he said it, but I laugh now everytime I look at my Obi-Wan and think of that moment.

One man's flaw may not be another's, but it's always interesting to share with each other.... what we thought about something... without getting upset about it.

I respect everyone of you guys, and I think you all have points.... But I think we all have to sit back and look at this situation and let it all go... It's not a big deal, just a silly debate. We are all friends, here for the same thing...:duff

I'm gonna go have a beer... Why don't you all join me? :chug

Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder but perfection is not.
There are no degrees of perfection, it's an absolute. There is no 10% perfect, like there is no 10% pregnant.

I love SSC figures and I think they are the best. The list of things that are wonderful is much longer than the list of flaws, however:

Anakin's arm falling off of any figure is a flaw.
Han's resemblance, while not that far off, is a flaw.
Luke's arm length is a flaw.
The lack of resemblance on the Buffy Faith, and Willow figures are flaws.
The fabric texture on Qui Gon and his poncho length are flaws.
The resemblance on Mace to SLJ is a flaw.
The fact that Ray Park has on eye higher than the other is nature, the fact that sideshow made the wrong eye lower is a flaw.

One can say that these things do no change your affection towards it, one can choose to ignore these points, but you cannot call them perfect.

This arguement is more over the innaccuracy of the words being used more than it is over the actual quality. You guys need to speak the same language.

Pardon the intrusion, but, if I may make a suggestion, perhaps the word "objective" may be more a more appropriate appellative than "ignorant."

I'm not saying it's either or, I haven't said anything like that. You keep insisting that a flaw is there like it's a fact of law, like human beings all have eyes (barring a birth defect or tragic accident), I'm not saying you can't like something and see a flaw, I'm not saying that at all, I'm just saying you can't label someone who doesn't see the ""flaws"" you see as ignorant, we will all see these figures differently and the only way we can maturely discuss them when there is a negative topic is if both sides open their mind to understanding the point of view of the other.

If SS had given Obi brown eyes, would you agree that it was a flaw? Or would it still be an opinion?

Nice. Let's just all agree that the Hulk Sideshow produced and released was "flawless".

"I" would have found flaw in it, but I would not say that the figure is flawed as thought it were concrete fact, that's my opinion that it's flawed not having the correct color eye, but someone else could also have the opinion that it makes no difference to them because of how small the eyes are and would say you could hardly tell anyway and still see it as a flawless figure, that's the point of been trying to make, flaws lay in the eyes of the person viewing them, not the object itself.

I think the Hulk statue isn't the best pose to have done him in and consider that a design flaw, but I also acknowledge that Andy's sculpting of the pose that was done was very well executed and the paint job well done, it's just not the pose for me.
