Here's my first cast of Tessek's hands! There's some minor defects which I'm working on correcting for the second cast but all in all I'm pretty proud. Once I hammer out the defects I'll be ready to paint them for whomever wants a set! 0-2.jpeg0-3.jpeg

I'm no expert at all, but what I usually do when I cast fine/thin stuff is after the pour I take a thin stir stick of some kind and scrape the inside of the mold to dislodge any tiny bubbles and also fill in any areas where the resin hasn't reached due to a little bubble gap. There are also products you can dust or add to the inside of the mold to minimize bubbles.

There's a number of areas in those hands where you can see it'll be tricky to get the resin all the way into, and that thin webbing also - I'm amazed you got that to read.

Thanks man! There’s definitely some small spots but in between poking bubbles out and manipulating the mold for the resin to get in all cracks, the second cast is a lot better! So now I can start making these bad boys for anyone who wants them. It is currently really humid though so it’s slowing down my ability to produce lol

First set of hands painted! Going to try to tackle making the mold for Amanaman tonight and still need to get the Tessek head mold done. 0-5.jpeg0-4.jpeg

Very nice! I'm interested to see how the Tessek head mold works out in terms of the tentacles (or maybe you're planning on doing those separately?). I hope everything goes smoothly for you; both the Tessek and Amanaman look sweet. :clap

Those are looking great. Are you ready for an order for just hands?

will you be making a clasp holding hands so he can maybe hold a drink ? that would be awesome

Yeah, not sure how much work it was for Cagoda, but I would also love an open left hand that has slightly curved fingers that could be used as an open hand but double as a drinks holding hand. Kind of like the kenner figure's open left hand that could hold a cup:

I'm also still thinking I might be able to adapt that pointing hand to hold a pistol too - like the Kenner figure.

These two existing hands work well for those promo shots of Squidhead where he has his left hand on his hip and pointing hand raised - and he seems to be pointing for some of his screen time in the movie.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the support!

I'm kicking myself that I didn't even think of a hand for holding a glass! That's a great idea! Maybe after I get some of my backlog cleared up I can make a drink holding hand. The current pointed finger hand might be able to be modified by drilling a hole to hold the blaster, or there is a pretty good gap on his left hand that might be better suited for holding a blaster, just no trigger ginger lol.

Talibane I'll PM you!

Update! I'm making casts of Tessek so I can get everything prepped for anyone who wants one.

Amanaman update- I'm going to try to pour the mold for the main body tonight, just finished the proof of concept for an articulation plan. The arms will be cast as a statue but can be modified for the articulation!

I'm blown away by what you're doing there but I'm still not convinced the elbow articulation is necessary, esp. with that amazing shoulder joint you've created that alone will provide a ton of poseability.

The double elbow joint mechanics just seem a bit too visible, and it could start to get into SSC Bossk territory where for the sake of making somewhat extreme poses (that very few collectors would ever need) they made pretty visible joints that to me were too much of a distraction from how the arms should look.

I really think that for most people, they just want a bit of play in the arms to get the arm positioning right on the floor (let's face it, it'll be hard to get the huge arms to stay upright in "across the chest" types poses) and the shoulder joint provides more than enough play for that. I'm actually amazed you pulled off the shoulder joint so perfectly.:clap

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback and constructive criticism! I was actually thinking the same thing as you where it is too visible, and I figured most wouldn't want the added articulation. I mainly just wanted to see how it looked and operated, it was really fun putting it together!
I'll definitely be casting the arm as one solid piece but also including the joints separate for anyone that wants to take a stab at it themselves. That would be the best of both worlds- optional articulation but the default being "statue" type (or the default having just the shoulder articulation). I 3D printed all the pieces for the joints (shoulder and elbow) and made casts of them so it's not too crazy to include, just an extra pour of resin!
