Saw it this morning, kicked ass. Anything is better than the first, but this FAR exceeded my expectations. Definitely a must buy on Blu for me.

:rock

I was wondering too why Hulk was underpowered but I just figured they are saving the meaner, madder, more powerful Hulk for I Hulk 2 or Avengers. I see I Hulk 2 as having Hulk get really mad, then grow up twice as big and start tearing down buildings.

I also thought he seemed a little underpowered, but I have a feeling your right about saving the stronger hulk for later movies. If I had to guess I would say the last Banner scene will allow for an Avengers hulk....

And I dont think its giving anything away, but I was curious if anyone caught a name for the Betty's "head shrinking guy friend"? If I had to guess his hair might be turning green before too long if you know what I mean? Though the "Mr. Blue" was pretty obvious (Fqrizzo had to point it out to me though....):banghead

Also, in terms of Blonskies character and desire for power...I think that could easily be chalked up to the super soldier serum. In the captain america story lines later attempts at recreating the serum lead to a second captain america and second bucky, but the serum caused different levels of insanity. I guess that would be making excuses, but its a plausable explanation IMO. Thoughts?

You'd be right :naughty

Re: I've seen The Incredible Hulk Thread... *Spoiler *

Blonsky was a good character, but I didn't really get his motivation. We needed another beat or something about him to understand why he craved power so much.

It was pretty well explained I thought. He is a solder and craves the action/excitement of what he does but as he said in the movie he is past his prime after his initial run in with the Hulk. He said he would have loved to face the Hulk in his prime which is why Ross offered him the Super Soldier serum. After his second run in with the Hulk which didn't end so well, he realized he needed more to be able to take him down and then wanted the Gamma Serum to become as powerful as the Hulk so he could take him out. When the Hulk wasn't there, he was looking for anything to challenge him in a fight.

The "Head Shrinking Guy" was already confirmed for months as Doc Samson. He is even credited that way in the end titles.

Also Blonsky was thirsty for power. After being defeated twice even with the assistance of the SS Serum (the last time out of sheer pride and arrogance) he knew he had to become like Banner to "beat Banner" and in the end it was that same arrogance that left open the window for The Hulk.

Also, remember this is the Origin Hulk who is more savage than anything else, hence the Caveman dialogue. Banner has to focus and control it and allow the anger to channel to become stronger. The Hulk was played perfectly sticking to the original silver age source material.

IMDB pulls from the studio credit listings and has it as "Dr. Samson". I believe the film has it the same way.

I guess I'll have to go see it again to check. My wife will understand. :D

Eh, I never liked the Leader myself. I'd rather have some other villains.

It wasn't really explained, but eluded to. It all goes back to Blonsky's psyche even before he's exposed to the SSS. Remember this dialogue between Blonsky and Ross: Ross tells Blonsky he should have been a Colonel by now. And Blonsky is still just a Captain, 3 grades below a Colonel. Agreeing to take the SSS is Blonsky's way of gaining the power he feels he should have already had by now.

My take was that Blonsky wanted to be at the position he was. He wanted to be the arrow not the crossbow. And he loved being the best at what he did. It became a matter of pride when he lost to the hulk. In other word's Blonsky is Ahab and the hulk is his whale. Pride is most definately one of the best motivators for stupidity!
