Great movie! My kind of fast moving movie with action! Great job! Now jj and Disney will make star wars better then the last 3 star wars for sure! :)

saw the movie today for the second time.

this is by far the best star trek series ever made. I hope J.J keeps making more movies and I am just pumped to see what he will do with star wars.

best movie of the summer right now hands down.

I can't wait to see it again later in the week. I have a lot of fond memories of Star Trek from when I was young, but I agree that this is the best incarnation. As it should be, after all. It's standing on the backs of everything that's gone before it and it's got the budget to equal its aspirations, something Star Trek never had before.

Wow...just wow. This sums up the movie perfectly.

Yeah, I skipped through that review last week. Bad *** Digest reviews by Devin Faraci are usually honest and don't praise crap movies.

Wow, movie sounds like a complete cluster ****.

Oh well, still have to make up my own mind.

But they gave SW to this guy.

EESH.

They gave Star Wars to Abrams because he would bring in the most money and the really creative types passed. Probably for good reasons. I realized this morning for the first time how little interest I have in future Star Wars movies and products. Sure there is the occasional statue like Shaak Ti. But I used to really like Star Wars and the idea of three more potentially bad movies is a downer. I know Abrams is only directing one. And he claims to like Star Wars over Star Trek. But I really want to know what he thinks about the prequels. If he understands why most fans of the originals think they suck. And if he's crazy enough to even consider remaking Empire Strikes Back.

Movies create such intimate experiences and the reactions they invoke in people are so personal that people can forget that other people have their own interaction with the film. And that it's okay that they do.

I can't tell if any of the haters in this thread have even seen the film.

I thought the only things wrong with this movie were the enemies race, the uniforms (can't stand the Old Navy shirts) and the cameo of the old man. Otherwise the movie was great. I honestly haven't heard anyone that has seen it and not enjoyed it.

EDIT: After brisking through that review above I must say that I really hate the internet some times. People just want to ruin things for everyone by tearing apart every ****ing thing. I like to believe people like that live with their parents in a basement somewhere and die alone while choking on their own filth.

Yep. I don't think people realize that some writers do this because it gets them hits and attention. The worst thing you can do is make a decision to see or not see movies based on these kinds of reviews.

Why would you read a spoiler review if you plan to see the movie?

Saw this one yesterday...

It was ok. it only confirms that Lindleoff, Orci, and Kurtzman are talentless hacks. The best moments in this film were directly lifted from a far better Star Trek film. it had some interesting ideas, and I thought they were going to do something really interesting.

But no. They decided to rehash an older plot, and their use of elements show that they have no clue why those moments are so fondly looked upon. This film did not earn those moments.

Like I said, it's ok, but if I want to see Khan, I'll watch WoK, not this. But it is better than Nemesis, so there is that...

I'm glad I haven't ever watched Star Trek - it meant I went into this film knowing nothing about Khan or any older storylines.

I thought Into Darkness was incredible.

I'm glad you liked it, but that does kind of prove the point. I shouldn't have to jettison all knowledge of the previous films in order to enjoy it. This is basically frat boy Star Trek. Lose all the science so things can go boom.

Been a fan of trek forever, right back since the original cast and TV show.:lecture saw this last night and imo if you can't enjoy this film then you need to get the stick out of your arse.......:gah::lol:lol

I would direct CelticP's ''God. You people'' post at this^

Bit of an extreme reaction to some negative reviews of a film don't you think? Christ.

People are allowed not like something and give their reasons why. They're talking about a film, not your mother. Calm the **** down everyone.

Bingo!

Faraci is a fat piece of grease that writes **** that appeals to mindless masses that need to be told an opinion so that they can hold one. The only respect I give him is that he does in fact put name and face to his rants, which takes alot of ***** since he fights like an 8 year old girl. (bad analogy, I think most 8 year old girls would kick the crap out of him) :lol
Not saying he couldn't be a good reviewer, but I think he definitely plays up the **** to attract the lowbrow crowd.

Look, this is a movie forum, in a toy forum. Think of it more like....your mind pouring itself out.

If someone you knew ranted in your face about a film you loved in real life , you'd take it, nod your head, and say I disagree. Despite you getting frustrated, because most people hate when someone dislikes something you don't. It's just a weird little tick i'd assume most humans have. But I could be wrong.

That being said, people aren't hating the film based on it's merits. Only the merits of being a Trek film, and the nitpicks, and all that nerdy crap.

You haven't seen the film yet, please, go watch it. And if you don't like it, fine. But dislike it because of it's story, character, plot, acting, cinematography, directing and effects. Not "It doesn't match up to Trek, therefore is pooy!"

Why would anyone's opinion hold up to that nerdy crap? My problems with Evil Dead have nothing to do with comparing the two. It has to do with the filmmaking and writing. Which I thought was quite lackluster.

basically it opened a kids (my) imagination about the future and sci-fi, I still enjoy it, as it reminds me of simpler times of childhood. where playing outside with a stick in the mud was fun.

yup and when cheesy special effects and crap props looked good...A show that was truly ahead of its time, A show with Humanity(not too many IMHO can say that)...I remember fondly watching them 40something years ago...My father didnt like it so much...In fact If I remember all of the parents/older generation didnt care for it...I dont remember a soul over 30 yrs old back then that cared for it...To me Star Trek represented what Americans should truly become...even a hope was represented in the TOS IMHO
