The scene worked in Wrath of Khan because of the history between the two characters. It didn't have quite the impact here because these alternate versions of the characters don't have that history yet. It made a bit of sense in the context of the film with Kirk demonstrating the willingness to take responsibility for his ship and crew, fulfilling his little character arc. But the impact of that doesn't compare to the original version.

I wanted a new story...yes...if you were talking to me.

I had fun. But was let down that I had to watch the climatic Wrath of Khan scene again. Zero emotional impact.

and the fact that khan and the 72 were put back in stasis makes me think we may see an entire movie of khan again showing his wrath. don't get me wrong, i loved the story remake and them keeping it under wraps, but i also would like to see something different than a rehash of old stories. i agree the first movie took us to another storyline that was fresh but i feel the second just plopped us in front of the screen to keep us company. it was still a great theater experience in 3D!

^ Science fiction is more then just ships and lasers. It's SCIENCE Fiction. You need actual plausable science to have Science Fiction. Star Wars isn't science fiction. It's Science Fantasy.

I took me a SciFi class back in high school. :yess

Also, awesome review. Despite me enjoying it more then they did, I do agree with mostly what they said. The writers suck. JJ Abrams is awesome.

I have a feeling I'll agree with absolutely everything they said. Wow, they raised a few points I hadn't read anywhere else about the silliness of some of the writing -
like how Admiral Marcus woke Khan to get him to build new ships...yet Khan has been frozen for something like 300 years so how the **** is he supposed to know how to build advanced 23rd century spaceships.

I thought that particular point was explained well, though. It wasn't just about smarts. It was about a certain brutal mentality combined with intelligence.

I agreed with everything they said too. I just enjoyed the film due to J.J's great directing.

But see...very few nerdy nitpicks. That's all I meant A-Dev. That's all I meant.

There wasn't many nerdy nitpicks to begin with. The only ones I can think of are Benedict Cabbagepatch's not having any kind of resemblance to the original actor and the shrunken distance between Earth and Kronos (yeah I don't know how its supposed to be spelt either)

Answer me one question. Can Nasa build a starship?.....Now if you freeze those Scientists for 300 years and thaw them out in the future will they still be able to?

Maybe if you plug them into the Matrix.....?

Im not really a star trek fan but I did like this one but the first one is still better to me

Khan was supposed to to be a mentally and physical superman. Intellectually far superior to humans. And genetically engineered to be a war/battle genius. With that in mind it's not a stretch to imagine why he would be useful in any century. There were plot holes, but I didn't have a problem with that. Awesome movie.

Star Trek 2 > Iron Man 3 ....No question after seeing it again last night

Agree with this review 100% As I said many pages ago I thought the characters should be farther along. It was basically the first film again. Only not as good.

I also don't like New Spock. I did in the first film but "Emotional/Action packed" Spock is starting to get old and suck.

This was my first IMAX 3D movie, and WOW!! It was amazing. Loved it. I normally avoid 3D as much as possible, it gives me terrible headaches, but this was so worth it. Beautifully done!

:clap:clap:clap

The 3D was remarkable- the IMAX filmed scenes were beautiful too.
